[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117651] AutoCorrect will not change preexisting text inside /slashes/ to italics.
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117651 --- Comment #5 from V Stuart Foote--- (In reply to SNORT from comment #4) > ... > > Tools/AutoCorrect/Apply. Right there. Clicking that works with bold and > underline, but NOT italics. If it DIDN'T replace asterisks with bolding and > underscores with underlining, I would say that maybe it just couldn't do > that at all. But it is doing HALF ITS JOB. Why!? > Hmm, my bad. I'd mistakenly made a target text selection and then applied the autocorrect. Seems when applying the autocorrect to existing text, a selection is not needed nor helpful--as the autocorrect simply runs through the whole document. So confirming that the Tools -> Autocorrect -> Apply autocorrect does render the * Bold or _ Underline markup, but not the / Italic nor the - Strikethrough. So there is an implementation error--something more needed to be connected to get the same behavior. > And yes, I could go through the entire text and manually delete+replace > every / to trigger AutoCorrect normally. That would take an entire days' > worth of monotonous work. This is a NOVEL. > > No need, just do the * bold or _ underline Find & Replace with "Whole words only" checked, apply the Autocorrect for those to have distinct formatting to work against. Then change the direct formatting with Find & Replace with Find using Other Options -> Attributes--probably with the Including Styles checkbox. Pick an Attribute and use the Format button's dialog to configure first the Find field, and then the Replace field. It is a little bit fussy to get the right mix for desired result, but seems to work. It is a shame that doing it directly for / italic or - strike through with an autocorrect is not 100% yet. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117651 V Stuart Footechanged: What|Removed |Added CC||vstuart.fo...@utsa.edu --- Comment #2 from V Stuart Foote --- Not sure this is incorrect behavior. The two "modes" of autocorrect are while modifying [M] and while typing initial text [T] The correction for typing new text occurs when the closing *, _, -, or / is entered. Likewise with existing text, modifying makes the autocorrection for each enclosing *, _, -, or / Performing a Find & Replace will make the substitution, but I don't believe it is expected to pass the text back through the edit shell to then perform an autocorrect. Should it? Not as implemented. And, revisiting the strings just replaced, backspacing over the closing mark and replacing it triggers the [M] autocorrect for each of the formats--Bold, Underline, Strikethrough, and Italic. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117653 Bug ID: 117653 Summary: AutoCorrect does not work with contractions Product: LibreOffice Version: 5.4.0.3 release Hardware: All OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ahutso...@hotmail.com Description: When I use a contraction as the first word of a sentence, it is not automatically corrected. For example: i'll do it tomorrow. [should correct to --->] I'll do it tomorrow. Even in mid-sentence, proper noun contractions (like I'm, I'll, I'd, etc) do not automatically capitalize. When I noticed this for the first time, I added the words in the Replace list, with no change. The box for "capitalize first word of sentence" is checked. I have had this problem since downloading and using LibreOffice three years ago and throughout all LO updates. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Begin a new sentence by typing a contraction (such as i'm or haven't) 2. Press space bar. AND 1. In the middle of a sentence, type a proper-noun contraction, such as i'll or i've. 2. Press spacebar. Actual Results: The word does not auto-capitalize as instructed in AutoCorrect. Expected Results: The first word of every sentence should auto-capitalize, since the box is checked. Also, proper noun contractions should auto-capitalize. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes OpenGL enabled: Yes Additional Info: User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/66.0.3359.139 Safari/537.36 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117102] picture scaling not fine enough
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117102 --- Comment #17 from Dr. Matthias Weisser--- (In reply to Dr. Matthias Weisser from comment #13) > its not possible using the percent values as has been shown clearly. > its possible using the cm values. "I don't see a reason to enter a _precise_ value in percent." whats the reason for giving this field then? clearly one can change size using this percent field. using your logic here this field would have not be changeable. but it is. So why then not enable users to change it to a really useful value? "You can do that with the exact units." thats true. But normally I do not like using those value. The percent value I like much more. "But what reason do anyone have to think about 52.31 percent?" I still think that 52.3% could be good enough. "That's bug 44267, isn't it?" Bug 44267 means: "Two decimal digits are insufficient for specifying object position and size" this is not what I think is so useful instead of percentage. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117009] In Impress UI scroll bars are active beyond the extent of the slide

If we change the default setting, would users of existing/old profiles see the new default or would they stick in their old setting? If it doesn't change, your argument against it is obsolete in my POV. Just for the record, regardless what the default will be: It should be possible to move/extend any object outside of paper/slide size but no scrollbars bars should be shown with this option enabled and page down/up keys should not change the canvas view if the paper/slide size fits in the canvas completely. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 116511] Calc crashes when opening Function Wizard through Cmd-F2 shortcut
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=116511 --- Comment #10 from Tor Lillqvist--- The problem is the lovely "optimisation" in FormulaDlg_Impl::CalcStruct(), "Only calculate the value when there isn't any more keyboard input". For some reason, on macOS, when being invoked through the shortcut, that Application::AnyInput( VclInputFlags::KEYBOARD ) returns true, so the code thinks that "there is more keyboard input" and won't call UpdateTokenArray(), which sets m_pTokenArray. I wonder if this means that one could possibly reproduce this on Linux, too, by just having the Ctrl-F2 auto-repeat long enough, or something? Anyway, I think that optmisation is questionable, especially as the exact semantics of our horrible event loop API, like Application::AnyInput(), is under-defined and probably can and will change in various minor ways when people work on improving it on the Mac (and perhaps other platforms, too). (The event loop etc certainly needs improvement on the Mac, the "WindowServer grows to tens of gigabytes when running make check" issue is related. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117645] Missing arrow tip modifiers for arrow shapes
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117645 Regina Henschelchanged: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de See Also||https://bugs.documentfounda ||tion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=77 ||125 Ever confirmed|0 |1 Severity|normal |enhancement --- Comment #2 from Regina Henschel --- The current collection is based on the set used in older Microsoft Office versions. Of cause we can improve our collection. But the missing handles are no bug, therefore I set this report to "enhancement". LibreOffice has no UI to define or alter custom shapes, but you can define and alter shapes outside of LibreOffice. There exists some tutorials in internet. I except this as enhancement request, because it would be nice to have handles for the corner arrow. In Microsoft Office you can alter the corresponding shape via handles, so it would be good for interoperability to have such handles too in LibreOffice. Comparing the number of handles e.g. for the simple arrow, you have to consider in addition, whether the handles can only be moved top-down and left-right (Microsoft), or whether they are freely moveable (LibreOffice). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87892 Regina Henschelchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de --- Comment #15 from Regina Henschel --- (In reply to Ahsan_F from comment #14) > Dear LibreOffice community, I want to add more shapes to LibreOffice. Can > any one tell me which part of code is responsible for it? Thanks. Some of the mentioned sets are very special, so in my opinion they should not go into the general set shown in the toolbar. But such shapes can be provides via Gallery, or added via an extension, or offered for copy via a document. For custom shapes in core read /core/oox/README. Rendering of arbitrary custom shapes is already implemented. You "only" need to define them. For other shapes you find a hierarchy in core/include/svx/svdobj.hxx#270. But there is only the shape "regular-polygon" missing {http://docs.oasis-open.org/office/v1.2/os/OpenDocument-v1.2-os-part1.html#element-draw_regular-polygon]. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117231] There is no way to suppress Writer inserting blank pages to make page No. 1 a right-hand page (Formatting)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117231 --- Comment #14 from A.Holtsmark--- Thank you for this informative post. I will give it a try later today, but it sounds like it might work. HOWEVER, it will probably not work well in my very specific case. I ported the whole document from Word to Writer due to the complex page numbering scheme I needed to use. -I have page styles for chapter levels 1 to 3. This results in 3 page styles -For each of these, I have page styles for whether this page contains information that is authority approved or not, making it 6 styles. -Then we had to change from national to European certification authority, making it 12 styles. -Finally, for each time the document is edited, there is a new date in the footer (a part of the page change tracking), adding another set of 12 styles each time. So far, we have managed to get away with 4 edits. This yields 48 page styles within the document. Now, If I must split each style into a left-hand and a right-hand style, I will have to manage 96 page styles within this single document. I fear that the cure will be worse than the disease. Therefore: While I accept that the solution mentioned above may be a/the correct solution to this issue, I fear that unless one of the two fixes I mentioned above is implemented, I will be stuck with my current workaround. PS: MS Word choked completely on this numbering scheme. Before porting I had to open the Word document in Writer and re-save as .doc in order to maker Word open the document without choking. It is definitely not a common type of document. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 117231] There is no way to suppress Writer inserting blank pages to make page No. 1 a right-hand page (Formatting)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=117231 Regina Henschelchanged: What|Removed |Added CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de --- Comment #13 from Regina Henschel --- (In reply to A.Holtsmark from comment #0) > Description: > When working in "book mode" (edit>view>zoom>"zoom and view layout"), libre > office writer will insert blank pages to make page No. 1 a right-hand page. > Documentation like operational manuals often have complex page numbering > like "CHAPTER.SUBCHAPTER-PAGENUMBER", where page number is reset to 1 with > every new sub-chapter (This allows for easy insertion or removal of pages > during the lifetime of the product without affecting the page numbering of > the whole document). In this type of document, having auto-inserted blank > pages every 4 or 5 pages overly inflates the document. If you do not want the automatic "odd pages right", you have to use different settings in the page styles. The settings "right and left" and "mirrored" have the automatic "odd pages right". But you can set "only left" and "only right". These put the content left and right respectively regardless of the page number. You will likely need a first page style (without footer), a left page style and a right page style. To get an automatic change between right and left, you set "Next style" reciprocally. Shortcoming of such left-right-alternating is, that when inserting a page break you need to know whether the new page will be a right or left one to choose the correct style in the dialog. And you will have to change page breaks, if you later on notice, that you have to add a further page in between.
