[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129200] New: UI: Page sidebar: "Same Content" on header/footer sections is absolutely illogical
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129200 Bug ID: 129200 Summary: UI: Page sidebar: "Same Content" on header/footer sections is absolutely illogical Product: LibreOffice Version: unspecified Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Keywords: needsUXEval, topicUI Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: mikekagan...@hotmail.com Page sidebar in Writer has "Same Content" dropdown, with the following elements: "All Pages"; "First Page"; "Left and Right Pages"; "First, Left and Right Pages". These are expected to mean that e.g. "First Page" is first page is *different*. But how could one possibly read "Same Content: First Page" as "Different content on first page"?! Or how could one read "Same Content: First, Left and Right Pages", and see the difference with "Same Content: All" - and again, understand that the former means "different content on the listed categories"? The wording of the control needs to be changed. Simple proposal: change "Same Content" to "Different Content", and "All" to "None". But possibly better not try to over-simplify the UI (that dreaded "by all means, try to squeeze everything into one line!!!") and just make a checkbox group with possibility to choose what has own content. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87720] Default insert image anchor, wrapping, and spacing
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87720 --- Comment #34 from DM --- ...looking a bit more closely it wouldn't be so bad if a 'Wrap Through' item could be successfully placed as an inset over an As Character picture (other wraps seem to push the picture away), but if you do so you then you can't select it afterward to adjust it by clicking on it. Sometimes you manage to use the pointer select tool to catch it in a rectangle if it happens to be in the right position, but one I'm looking at I can't even do that as it selects the As Character picture it's lying over. If I want to select the inset picture that's over it I have to change the As Character one under it to To Paragraph, do adjustments (which might simply be a case of wanting to move its position) and change back again the Character As picture, which is all crazy... z-indexes don't help. d -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 128553] Shouldn't it be possible to apply multiple styles simultaneously?
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=128553 Regina Henschel changed: What|Removed |Added CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de --- Comment #3 from Regina Henschel --- When making any changes, it is important to consider how this can be written in file format. The file format is based on XML and this fact will certainly not be changed. An XML file is a sequence of elements. Each element can have a sequence of child elements. But it is not possible to have overlapping elements. You can have Start A...Start B ... End B ... End A But you cannot have Start A ... Start B ... EndA ... End B A style is an attribute of an element and therefore overlapping styles are not possible. For runs (text inside a paragraph) and the situation Start A...Start B ... End B ... End A, you can have 'italic' for A and 'bold' for B, and because B is inside A the text of B will be bold+italic. That is already possible as span-elements can be nested. Paragraphs and headings cannot be nested and nesting of them would make no sense. It is possible in ODF to have a list of styles applied to an element. That is attribute "text:class-names" for headings, paragraphs and runs and attributes "draw:class-names" and "presentation:class-names" for graphical objects. For pages such "class-names" concept does not exist. The concept "class-names" is not implemented in LibreOffice, but LibreOffice uses only the "style-name" attributes. @mrodent33: Does the concept "class-names" reflect your proposal? To read more about it in the standard, you can get the standard from http://docs.oasis-open.org/office/v1.2/os/ -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 87720] Default insert image anchor, wrapping, and spacing
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=87720 --- Comment #33 from DM --- I've come across this old discussion (with recent additions) because it seems in 6.4 beta insertion has been changed to "As Character" when before it was to paragraph. But there doesn't seem to be a default in the Graphics style to alter this anchoring default back to paragraph. Naturally I would like to be able to chose, and the old To Paragraph worked well for me where I had to overlap small inset images over other images, whereas this new As Character is a pain as I'm now having to be altering many images I'm putting in which I didn't have to do before. In terms of working procedure, a person might want to choose one default and set in all the pictures in place (eg into Table cells) and then switch to a different default in order to do many insets over them etc. d Version: 6.4.0.0.beta1 (x64) Build ID: 4d7e5b0c40ed843384704eca3ce21981d4e98920 CPU threads: 2; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 18362; UI render: default; VCL: win; Locale: en-GB (en_GB); UI-Language: en-GB Calc: threaded -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129199 Bug ID: 129199 Summary: AutoCalculate silent, deceptive fail. Indicative pattern of one edit step lag in AC update noticed. Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.3.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: rdbing...@verizon.net Created attachment 156318 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=156318&action=edit Example .ods for AutoCalc deceptive fail LO Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64) Build ID: a64200df03143b798afd1ec74a12ab50359878ed CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: default; VCL: win; Locale: en-US (en_US); UI-Language: en-US Calc: OpenCL OFF Multi-thread OFF AutoCalculate ON First noticed by accident in a multi-tab, complex, power-user spreadsheet. The attaced example .ods is an C/P extract of key rows for this demo in a multi-row table with formulas otherwise unchanged in case exact formulas or their complexity is an underlying indicator. Only SOME cells in the orginal table exhibit the AutoCalculate failure and not others. This behavior also shows and is annotated in the attached example. The failure is silent for no Err: or message box indications. The failure is decpetive because, as shown in this demo, + AutoCalulate DOES update when there is a change to a formula predecessor but it updates with a STALE value, and + The update fail affects some cells but not others, so to the user's eye the failures are spot fails buried in the visual clutter of the entire spreadsheet. In any but the simplest spreadsheet, to the user's eye the user does an input value cell change and the dependent formula cells change value so it all looks good unless by happenstance other parts of the spreadsheet obviously fail a smell test or calc hand check. Instructions with annotated, observed vs. expected results in the example file. Observed results were captured via copy the paste unformatted character. Cell comment annotations to the right. Notes on patterns noticed at the bottom. I have marked this bug as MAJOR since it undermines the entire concept of depending on LO Calc for even the simplest business or personal calculations. WORAROUNDS: RECALCULATE (F9 on a selection) and HARD RECALCULATE (all cells) do work. But this depends on humans consistently remembering to do this. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

The problem is that users are used to just inserting an image and being able to drag it to its final location, which is broken with as-char anchoring. So default to at-char anchoring, this is still something that is fully interoperable to Word (unlike the old to-para anchoring), but allows the easier image move again. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129198] Change tracking information is a bit of a mess in the Android app
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129198 --- Comment #2 from Nicolas Christener --- Thw Android as well as the iOS app should have an app setting where the user can insert some basic information which can then be accessed by the app. Much like how it's done in the desktop version where one can insert things like Name, Address, etc. in the settings dialog of LibreOffice itself. Maybe it can be done in the app itself or using the system provided app settings functionality. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 129191] New: FORMATTING: Default font for headers/footers in CSV-like file changed from 6.3.3 and up
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=129191 Bug ID: 129191 Summary: FORMATTING: Default font for headers/footers in CSV-like file changed from 6.3.3 and up Product: LibreOffice Version: 6.3.3.1 rc Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: cyberb...@cyberbotx.com Description: I typically open up extensionless files that are in a CSV-like format (specifically tab delimited) in LibreOffice Calc. The fonts for headers/footers in Calc since 6.3.3 (specifically 6.3.3.1) are no longer respecting the Default style font. The default font on the Default style is Liberation Sans, Regular style at 10 pt, as seen when I click on Styles in the Sidebar, right-click on Default, choose Modify, then go to the Font tab. When I go to Insert > Headers and Footers, the header of the dialog box says "Page Style: Default". I can see what font is being used by clicking on the Text Attributes button next to Custom header. In 6.3.2 (specifically 6.3.2.2), it says Liberation Sans, Regular style, 10 pt. But in 6.3.3, it says Liberation Serif, Regular style, 12pt. However, in both cases, if I go to Print Preview, it shows the header in Liberation Sans at 10 pt, even in 6.3.3. This holds true for both the pre-existing header that shows the sheet name by default as well as a custom header added to the left area. If I select the custom header added to the left area and click on Text Attributes and only change the style and/or size, it shows the updated style and/or size with the existing font, but still is Liberation Sans in the preview. The only way in 6.3.3 to get Liberation Serif to be the actual header font is to change the font itself to something else then back to Liberation Serif. I experience this problem with 6.4 Beta1 as well, so it is not a single version issue. It seems to be some sort of regression that happened between 6.3.2.2 and 6.3.3.1. I have only tested this under Windows 10 64-bit. I am unsure if it happens with other OSes or architectures. Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open an extensionless tab delimited file in Calc. 2. Go to Insert > Headers and Footers. 3. Click on the Text Attributes button next to Custom header. 4. Look at the font selection. Actual Results: Dialog box says Liberation Serif, Regular style at 12pt. Expected Results: Dialog box says Liberation Sans, Regular style at 10pt. Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: Yes Additional Info: Version: 6.3.3.2 (x64) Build ID: a64200df03143b798afd1ec74a12ab50359878ed CPU threads: 16; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL; VCL: win; Locale: en-US (en_US); UI-Language: en-US Calc: CL NOTE: I did not check the box below for OpenGL as it was disabled on one of the computers I was testing this bug on even though it was enabled on the computer I copied the about text above from. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Most odd though. One would think the last position information would be stored with "recent" file list information. It shouldn't care about the file type.
