[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130413] New: File Save: Calc uses wrong file extension when copying the name from a file with a different extension

2020-02-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130413

Bug ID: 130413
Summary: File Save: Calc uses wrong file extension when copying
the name from a file with a different extension
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.0.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: fors...@mailbox.org

Description:
LibreOffice Calc uses the wrong file extension in this case:

1. Make sure there is an .ods file on your desktop like "target.ods". The
content doesn't matter. It can be an empty file.
2. Open a file like source.csv form your download directory. The content
doesn't matter
3. Open the file
4. Click file - save as and choose Excel 97-2003 .xls as file type.
5. Enter the character * into the file name and press enter to make the Windows
save as dialogue display all files in this folder.
6. Click on the file "target.ods" to fill the field "file name" with the value
"target.ods"
7. Now change the field "file name" to "target 2" (without extension)
8. Confirm that you want to save the file as an excel file.

Expected result:

LibreOffice should append the proper file extension ".xls" so the file will
have the name "target 2.xls"

Actual result:

The file is named "target 2.ods" but it is actually an .xls file.
Modern Microsoft Office applications like Excel 2019 will refuse to open this
file because to the wrong file extension.

This bug happened with LibreOffice Calc but other programs may be affected as
well. This may be an Windows only bug.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make sure there is an .ods file on your desktop like "target.ods". The
content doesn't matter. It can be an empty file.
2. Open a file like source.csv form your download directory. The content
doesn't matter.

Actual Results:
The file is named "target 2.ods" but it is actually an .xls file.
Modern Microsoft Office applications like Excel 2019 will refuse to open this
file because to the wrong file extension.

Expected Results:
LibreOffice should append the proper file extension ".xls" so the file will
have the name "target 2.xls"

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130320] LibO 6: Windows 10 content indexing does not work

2020-02-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130320

The thing is: if renaming an ODT to SXW makes the file to be indexed, that
means that LibreOffice code works OK: no other filter (except OOo/AOO, which
are hopefully outside of the scope here, to simplify things) will ever try to
look inside that file type, and so LibreOffice shell extension will necessarily
handle it.

Then, if at the same time, ODTs fail to be indexed, that means that those files
*don't* reach LibreOffice code (which would otherwise handle them fine). And so
it's the question of why. If the registration for the two file types looks
identical, then ... ?

My idea (about differences between 64/32 registry) should be irrelevant here.
The indexing should be not dual: one system service should handle all files on
system, and that service should presumably use the system's architecture. Of
course, when showing the search results, the displaying modules would be
different for 64- and 32-bit applications, but that shouldn't matter, since
both would look into the same already-gathered index DB.

I suppose that the only possible way is to compare everything regarding the two
extensions - ODT and SXW. And that could also not help, if e.g. MS decided to
handle ODT (an ISO format) specifically...

I did try, but it still does not index content.

Just a "plain" user here. What makes the difference in my case is not the
number of bits but whether we are the system is joined to an AD or not.

That's exactly why we want an .odt file :-). We want to have a file that is
"working properly". All we have to do is save that example as a .docx and then
we will see the problem you are mentioning. So it gives us both a "good" and a
"bad" reference point.

> Is it feasible for LibreOffice to check .docx documents to see if 'Keep with
> Next' has been selected for a table, and, if so, to retain the 'Keep with
> Next' setting when the table reopens?
Microsoft formats simply do not have a "keep with next" setting for tables.
That's what I was explaining in comment 7.

Dear sviatoslav,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:
https://kiwiirc.com/nextclient/irc.freenode.net/#libreoffice-qa

Thank you for helping us make LibreOffice even better for everyone!

Warm Regards,
QA Team

When I save my table as an .odt document the bug goes away. The bug appears
when saving the document as a .docx document. So I don't see how sending you an
.odt table would help.

Is it feasible for LibreOffice to check .docx documents to see if 'Keep with
Next' has been selected for a table, and, if so, to retain the 'Keep with Next'
setting when the table reopens? The bug is that LibreOffice does not retain the
'Keep with Next' setting after the document is closed.

Thanks for your help.

I'm no developer, just a power user and system administrator who can do some
advanced scripting on PowerShell, but I could see at
https://harfbuzz.github.io/what-harfbuzz-doesnt-do.html that:

"HarfBuzz won't help you with line breaking, hyphenation, or justification. As
mentioned above, HarfBuzz lays out the string along a single line of,
notionally, infinite length. If you want to find out where the potential word,
sentence and line break points are in your text, you could use the ICU
library's break iterator functions."

I will do and I will report back with a link.

In the meantime, I should note that I get exactly the same crash with the same
error (referring to the same symbol, that is) when selecting "save as" from the

Bug 130405 arose from being a naive user, trying to customize the Styles menu.
In relation to the discussion here, bug 130405 is a case where the same command
may be legitimate both in menu and toolbar, but in the cases described in that
bug, the labels were different. This comment is just to give a "heads up" that
there might be an issue with labels between toolbars and menus. Wiser persons
must say whether there should be consistency between menu/toolbar labels for
the same .uno commands, or if your patch can also handle (will show) difference
in labels.(was helpful to have "tooltips" on the commands in Customize -
from your other patch)

Continuing in "naive user" mode...

1. If the "toolbar" tab is used instead of "menu" tab -- then commands listed
before appear in the toolbar menu with the same command names.

2. Tables Styles (command) becomes "Autoformat Styles" in the menu, but "Table
Styles" in the toolbar.

No opinion about possible action -- but it is/was confusing to understand what
was going on.

.uno:CharmapControl is used for the toolbar dropdown control (can be found on
the Standard toolbar), and is not designed to work from a menu. So what we want
here is to not show such commands in the list of available commands of the
Menus tab. This is already tracked in Bug 112620.

1. Tools - Customize - Menus - (target) Styles
2. In "Search" field, type: style
3. Here is a list showing some commands and menu items.

(command) - (menu)
Update Update Selected Style
EditEdit Style
New New Style from Selection
Styles Manage Styles

Removing a menu item and then adding the command item will give the correct
menu item (e.g., remove "Update Selected Style", then add "Update" -- it will
appear as "Update Selected Style")

Question: Shouldn't the command name be the same as the "menu" name?
(it is confusing at first encounter)

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 130404] New: get-pip.py fails to import _queue with LibreOffice 6.4.0.3 and embedded python 3.7.6 on Windows 10

2020-02-03 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130404

Bug ID: 130404
Summary: get-pip.py fails to import _queue with LibreOffice
6.4.0.3 and embedded python 3.7.6 on Windows 10
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 6.4.0.3 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Installation
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: gaxonegax...@hotmail.com

Description:
History:
In LibreOffice 6.3 running on Windows 10, I had installed "pip" into
LibreOffice's embedded python without any problem. I recently upgraded to LO
6.4.0.3 and noticed the embedded python version is now 3.7.6. Thus, python
modules I had previously installed thus needed to be reinstalled, including
"pip". I began to do that, but ...

Problem:
Installing pip into the new embedded python version 3.7.6 fails with error
message:
   ModuleNotFoundError: No module named '_queue'
It appears that module "_queue.pyd" is missing from the python version 3.7.6
files that are embedded in the Windows LibreOffice 6.4.0.3 distribution?

While investigating, I located the _queue.pyd module at:
https://www.python.org/ftp/python/3.7.6/python-3.7.6-embed-amd64.zip . I
extracted it from the zip file and copied it into directory "C:\Program
Files\LibreOffice\program\python-core-3.7.6\lib\". I was then able to install
pip successfully.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install LibreOffice 6.4.0.3 (in my case, I upgraded from LO 6.3)
2. Install python "pip" utility into LibreOffice's embedded python (version
3.7.6) using instructions from https://pip.pypa.io/en/stable/installing/. I
did this by opening a Windows 10 (admin) powershell and entering following
commands:
  2a. cd C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\
  2b. curl https://bootstrap.pypa.io/get-pip.py -o get-pip.py
  2c. .\python.exe .\get-pip.py

Actual Results:

In this case the regression of 18d636063fd7be165e7888af49372a6e2b851776 was
fixed by
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/commit/?id=efbd217afc52390138195e06e96ef9c8f10bf37b

But, like the example in bug 123815, this example is of file format version 10
and the filter only handles file format > 11

(i.e.
https://cgit.freedesktop.org/libreoffice/core/tree/lotuswordpro/source/filter/lwp9reader.cxx#n87
where it says m_nFileRevision>=0x000B)

its just that at one stage the filter didn't report that the import failed
(giving bug 41702 that the document opened empty) and now it does so in that
sense this is just a duplicate of bug 41702 that the version isn't supported

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 41702 ***

  Reporter: bio...@posteo.de

Description:
In a new document in Libreoffice writer, I create a rounded square and type
text into it. Then I click on the align center (or right) button. All my open
documents instantly close and Libreoffice crashes.

The program is running on Gnome Wayland, Arch Linux.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open new document in Writer
2. create a rounded square
3. type text into it.
4. click on the align center button

Actual Results:
all my open documents instantly close and Libreoffice crashes

Expected Results:
center the text inside the shape

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
Version: 6.4.0.3
Build ID: 6.4.0-2
CPU threads: 4; OS: Linux 5.4; UI render: default; VCL: gtk3;
