[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 150635] Numbers larger than 15 digits cannot be FORMATED as TEXT
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150635 --- Comment #4 from Mike Kaganski --- CSVs typically contain data in columns - i.e., any given column contains a single data type. A column named "password" is likely to contain passwords, and a column named "sum" in likely to contain numbers. In the CSV import dialog, right-clicking on any column header in the preview area allows you to choose the data type there in the respective column. So right-click on the "Password" column header, and select "Text" in import. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150637 Bug ID: 150637 Summary: Cut cells *within* a conditional formatting range, breaks the range; undo fails to restore Product: LibreOffice Version: 7.2.7.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: ddascalescu+freedesk...@gmail.com Created attachment 182049 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=182049=edit Screencast I have a sheet with medical data spanning thousands of records (days). Each column is a conditional formatting range (percentile color scale). Say B3:B9 is a such a CF range. Cutting B8 and pasting it over B6 will break the range into B3:B5, B6, B7, B9. Also, formatting will be lost on B6. The narrated screencast illustrates this. I understand this might have been WAI per #57486, in order to not risk losing formatting, but, * in practice formatting is actually lost * undo is broken * it would be a *really* useful and semantically correct to keep the original range intact, as the user intention was. This would also nicely result in not losing formatting. In practice, with hundreds of rows and numerous edits, the CF ranges constantly become a broken mess, and I have to fix them to the original START:END points every other day. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150635 --- Comment #3 from Tamas --- Thanks for you answer but I am missing something. Are you suggesting that to open a .csv file in Calc, I should first format numbers to TEXT for the entire spreadsheet and then open the .csv file? Since I don't know ahead of time which cells are going to contain larger than 15 digits, that's the only way I can prevent large numbers turning into scientific notation. A .CSV file, however, can contain numbers as well (e.g. population figures) which then would have to be found and converted back to numbers? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150635 Mike Kaganski changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |NOTABUG Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED --- Comment #2 from Mike Kaganski --- This is not a bug; and this is exactly why passwords, telephone numbers, card ids, and any other sequences of characters that are not numbers (i.e., are not representing a value, and are not used for calculations) should be entered as text. See this FAQ: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Calc/Accuracy It explains that Calc uses 64-bit binary numbers internally; and that format only guarantees 15 decimals stored accurately. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 150635] Numbers larger than 15 digits cannot be FORMATED as TEXT
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150635 --- Comment #1 from Tamas --- 1. Open a spreadsheet and enter a 14 digit number in a cell. Since the default column-width is probably less than 0.9-inch, the number format will automatically switch to scientific notation. 2. Enlarge the column-width to twice its default size and enter three more numbers under the previously entered number, 15, 16, and 17 digits long. The 17 digit number will automatically switch to scientific notation no matter how wide your column is and the 16 digit number will change as soon as you format it to “text”. 3. If the 16 or 17 digit numbers are now copied to a text file, it will copy in the scientific format which is not the same as the original number that was typed in the spreadsheet. As a matter of fact, the original number is lost (unless you happen to remember it) because the scientific notation cannot be converted back to long form beyond 16 digits. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 150635] New: Numbers larger than 15 digits cannot be FORMATED as TEXT
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150635 Bug ID: 150635 Summary: Numbers larger than 15 digits cannot be FORMATED as TEXT Product: LibreOffice Version: 3.5.2 release Hardware: All OS: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Calc Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: tsf...@gmail.com It is impossible enter numbers larger than 15 digits on a spread sheet, unless the cell or row or column was pre-formatted to be text (Format cells>Numbers>Text). Any number, larger than 15 digits is automatically converted to scientific notation which is all right for calculations but not for text value. Furthermore, such numbers converted to scientific notation and saved as text, are irretrievably lost. For example: 12345678901234567 entered as text, is not the same as its scientific equivalent 1.234567890123456E+16 and yet the long form number will be lost and cannot be retrieved. That means, the spread sheet cannot be used for storing long numerical passwords or open a .csv file containing such passwords or data. Pre-formatting the spreadsheet to “text” is not a solution because when opening a .csv file (or any data file) you cannot know which cells will require such formatting and the value in those cells will be lost. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

If KDE's global scaling is turned to 175% or less, the issue does not occur. At 200% or more it is always a problem. (Unfortunately, on a 14" 4K laptop screen 175% UI elements and text are really too small to be usable!) The problem is reproducible on non-HiDPI screens. On my old T420s laptop with a 1600x900 screen, if the scaling is set to 200% or more the cursor bug appears. I also tested all this in X11 and Wayland sessions: the issue is consistent in both. Finally, the issue is not just confined to Writer, as it occurs in Draw, Impress, and Calc as well. I have no found the issue in any non-LibreOffice programs (e.g., office suites, text editors, web browsers). Hopefully someone else can test and confirm this issue. I do want to test it on a Gnome system too and external monitors, but I don't have a usb drive at the moment (so I don't know if this is a LibreOffice issue in KDE only). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 139518] Unwanted scroll deleting an image
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=139518 --- Comment #5 from stragu --- To test more consistently, I recommend using the following steps: 1. Open attachment 168800 2. Click on the picture with gold border 4. Press Delete on keyboard Actual Results: Viewport jumps up to show most of the first large picture. [Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 150620] Paste Special - Format Only doesn't stick
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150620 --- Comment #2 from ayla.alhollandi...@gmail.com --- I am sorry, I made a mistake in my steps to reproduce. I said at step 2 to press OK, but that works as expected, like the other comment said. The problem is actually when you press enter instead of OK. In the old version that had the exact same effect as OK, but in this version if you press ctrl-shift-C again it preselects "Values Only" with a blue border, and if you then press enter it takes that button for input instead of the OK button with the settings from before. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 85493] VIEWING: In diagrams, tooltips shown over curve points show information about the wrong point when "Range for Name" cell values are not sorted in ascending order
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=85493 --- Comment #20 from Olivier DESCOUT --- I can still reproduce this with LibreOffice 7.4. The pop-up tip over any point of the graph still gives wrong data information, namely data information on a wrong point of the graph, as soon as X-axis-graph data are sorted in any order different from the ascending one. The bug description includes a small Calc sheet, which reproduces the bug. Please find below detailed LO version information: Version: 7.4.0.3 (x64) / LibreOffice Community Build ID: f85e47c08ddd19c015c0114a68350214f7066f5a CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19043; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win Locale: fr-FR (fr_FR); UI: fr-FR Calc: threaded -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
