You can conveniently test with a daily master build - it installs separately
and will not mess with your stable one:

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157163] NotebookBar tabs' background color does not extend to the right, "looks" broken with a wide window

2023-09-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157163

--- Comment #7 from Jeff Fortin Tam ---
>From your screenshot I see that you are running Ubuntu 20.04's patched up
desktop environment, which is, strictly speaking, not really GNOME; as they
have their own unofficial customizations, theming (which apparently does not
use any background color for GTK notebook tab widgets), it does not represent
GNOME's official UX and styling. And yeah, 3.36 is 3½ years old at this point,
that's seven GNOME release cycles behind ;)

The "border" you see is the delimitations of where the tabs' background color
would normally be rendered, so you are seeing the same thing as me, just that
your theme doesn't render it properly... Workaround to reproduce: install the
"GNOME Tweaks" tool and switch your GTK theme to "Adwaita", GNOME's official
look.

especially noticeable wih diacritics
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.6.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Description:
characters italicized are chopped, clipped, amputated, truncated on the upper
right on the included .odt file

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Load into Writer the included file < the_J_hat.odt >
2.you will see upper left J circumflex characters, and the characters to the
right are truncated in the file as-is.
3. The characters can be cut and pasted in the line with variable results.
Spaces can be inserted between them and deleted and sometimes the truncation
will happen and then sometimes the truncation will disappear with added and
deleted spaces. sometimes a character with a space after will, when the
character is inserted after the space, will go from untruncated to truncated

Dear MarjaE,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

Sample ODT

Open the attached sample, and press enter at the beginning of the heading.

=> Apart from adding a line, an extra tab is added as well in front of the
heading.

This doesn't happen with the default Heading 1 style in a new document, and I'm
not exactly sure in what way this file's styles are different, but they're
slightly different.

Observed using LO 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (d8dbf35c48698e49c527d740853ce4edc4f1afa9) /
Ubuntu.

This change seems to be a regression, which came from the following commit.

Hm, I believe there is merit in the report.

This new feature was inspired from Word, and there it works a bit differently
than in Writer:
It is possible to select a caption category and a custom style (although their
UI is kinda counter-intuitive in this area, and selecting a custom style
instantly resets the category setting to none - but it can be set again).

See attachment 184747 from bug 153090 about this: the ToF is made from two
settings: the category "ábra" (figure) and the custom style
_CustomImageCaption. The small house images description has both these
conditions true, but only one entry is added in the ToF, even after updating it
in Word. Which makes sense, it's only one paragraph in the document body.

However in Writer it's also easy to reproduce the entry duplication with
attachment 184745 :
- Set the LO UI to German
- Open the attachment 184745
- Edit the ToF, set the Kategorie to Abb.
- OK the dialog -> ToF is updated, the first two entries are duplicated.
(the same happens in Hungarian UI and selecting the ábra Category - this
duplicates the third entry)

I think it would make sense to not duplicate ToF entries even if they match two
criteria.

Version: 24.2.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: beaea2e992912b4747d790070b26371f557b1f57
CPU threads: 15; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (hu_HU); UI: de-DE
Calc: threaded

Note that it's possible to set up a simple TOC with similarly duplicated
entries that have both an outline level set and their para style is also
assigned to a TOC level. That is also nonsense to show and does not match what
Word does, which only shows one entry even if a paragraph matches multiple
conditions.

(In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #41)

> And which shortcut is meant exactly? The direct one for Calc (also running

The one for Calc that was created by the installer in the apps menu. It is
located in:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\LibreOffice 7.5
and its target is:
"C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\program\scalc.exe"
with Start In set to "C:\Program Files\LibreOffice\"

For more info, please see my original report as Bug 156290 (now marked as a
duplicate... I looked for other reports but did not find one until later.)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156290

> Does a new shortcut created for the executable(s) manually show the same
> problem?

Yes. I also tried a different Start In location - still hangs on copy.
And I tried using the LibreOffice shortcut then selecting Create: Calc
Spreadsheet - still hangs on copy.

Also, the hang happens both with the PDF import filter and the Writer import

1. Open a Firefox web browser
2. Search for something on DuckDuckGo
3. Make sure the search results include an images section ("Images for
[your-search-term-here]")
3. On the Firefox menu, select File | Print
4. Save as a PDF, with the background (I chose A4 size, portrait, and fit width
to page)
5. Open the PDF in LO Draw
6. Look at the images in the image results section

Expected results:

Images are surrounded by the white background.

Actual results:

Each image is surrounded by a large black elliptic disc, longer on the

The About-dialog's version information blurb mentions whether Calc is threaded
or not. Now, that's fine - if I'm using Calc. But if I'm getting this
information from another module - it absolutely doesn't matter if Calc is
threaded or not. So, for non-Calc modules - don't say this, and don't copy it
to the clipboard with the copy button. It just makes people have to cut out
this spurious line after pasting it on bug pages.

hi Stéphane Guillou,

thanks for suggestion! I tried several different themes and using some (few)
of them solved the situation. Looking at the theme properties and playing with
them I found that the issue is related to the choice of the controls inside the
theme.
I have several themes coming from earlier distributions (Mint versions
exspecially), so now i'm using the Traditional theme and seems ok.
The bug is not solved in my poor opinion (is not clear why it happens), but if
you think is not the case of spending time on it do you vale to sign the issue
closed/solved ?
Have a nice evening,

Same issue, Using a touchscreen monitor, should be able to scroll using two
fingers but it only highlights text. Scrolling works fine in other apps,
chrome, word, etc. Just not in Libra. I love libra but really need to be able
to scroll.

Allow me to disagree. Even if the title may be misleading, this request regards
a feature which is very different from exporting the slides as raster images.
The request is to save the document as a presentation whose slides are raster
images.
Quote:
"The presentation contains all the slides and has the pptx extension (note the
difference with exporting your presentation as images!)."

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 157240] New: PRINTING text lines disappear (in fact become white) when printing in grayscale

2023-09-14 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=157240

Bug ID: 157240
Summary: PRINTING text lines disappear (in fact become white)
when printing in grayscale
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.5.5.2 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Draw
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mm.tsu...@gmail.com

Created attachment 189576
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=189576=edit
example to show grayscal bug that turn some text to white color

Since Libreoffice version between 7.3 and 7.5.5, when you want to **print in
grayscale, some text in text frames disappears.**
You can see on preview.
In fact, those texts become white.
Not all text are affected.

Colored and black & white show all text.

Libreoffice 7.3 doesn't show this problem.

Windows and linux versions 7.5.5, 7.5.6, 7.6 show this problem.
