Yes. A great place would be https://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/ListNetiquette#replying . I'll of course run it by all of you before modifying this wiki, but I think references to old-timers and senile old buggers should be removed. It's not old vs young, it's clarity vs ambiguity. Also, bottom posting is just a special case of interleave posting. Bottom posting is compatible with interleave posting, whereas top posting destroys interleave posting. I'll try to have the text, for the project's approval, in a month. Thanks! I probably can if given some time. It's not a hard job, but right now my personal and computer life is in a state of upheaval, with each messing up the other. If one does not like tikz question there is nothing easier than to ignore it and move to the next thread. > (Unlike, say, that bottom posting is preferable.) Good point, it maybe worth of repeating once in a while that our list netiquette nicely asks for a) bottom posting and b) not quoting irrelevant parts of the messages in the reply. Advantages of both points become very clear once there is some need to discuss some issue at depth. Alas, even some developers are lazy to respect others time and ignore it ;) What our netiquette indeed does not cover is kindness and I find it impossible to impose it from outside. Many times I've found here important support, often I've learned about some deep mystics of LyX & LateX, and sometimes I've could help some other people with a little advice. And not totally off topic :-) theoretical physicist Carlo Rovelli has just published a nice book with short essays with the title: "There Are Places in the World Where Rules Are Less Important Than Kindness And Other Thoughts on Physics, Philosophy and the World". If I understand your problem, this will also not solve it, as the arc key draw an arc that starts at the point you mention, and not centered around it. If you want to draw an arc for the angle, I recommend using the angles and quotes (for the node) libraries (for more information see https://tikz.dev/library-angle). I attached a file with what I think is the desired output. Drawing an arc
Hello! I'm having troubles with drawing an arc. The rest of the diagram works fine and the code seems to parse but nothing shows up on the picture. Here's the code: \begin{tikzpicture}[domain=3:10] \draw (0,0) rectangle (3,5); \draw (0,0) -- (10, 0); \draw [<->] (2,0) -- (2,5); \coordinate [label=left:{$h$}] (h) at (2,2.5); \draw [<->] (3,-0.5) -- (10,-0.5); \coordinate [label=below:{$R$}] (R) at(6.5,-0.5); \draw (3,5) -- (5,5); \draw[->] (3,5) -- (5,7); \path (3,5) to node [above] {$v_0$} (5,8); \path (3,5) arc [start angle=0, end angle=45, radius=3mm]; \coordinate [label={$\theta$}] (t) at (4, 5.1); \draw [dashed] plot (\x,{5+tan(45)*((\x)-3)-4.9*(((\x)-3)/(6.33*cos(45)))^2}); \end{tikzpicture} The problem is the path line 4 lines above the bottom. This is practically a copy of a line I got out of a manual but I can't seem to make it work. The arc is supposed to appear in the corner next to the symbol theta. See the attachment.
