update a port
I just mailed a update diff for a package, now how does the diff get accepted, does the project maintainer look into it? Is there a maintainer for all packages? I have never tried this before, but I hope to get into some serious porting. Also can anyone guide me on how to get diff format with the INDEX,RCS,Version, etc.

Check out the man page for bsd.port.mk(5): $ man 5 bsd.port.mk and search for 'reinstall'. Obviously you need to get yourself an updated ports tree. Normally you update your entire system as well with either the install media (a new release; binary upgrade), snapshots (binary upgrade), or building world (source code upgrade). /juan
