[PD] pdj, mxdublin and -schedlib on os x

2009-08-05 Thread Si Mills

Hi

For those that don't know what mxdublin is, its a java gui tracker
sequencer, check this out:
http://www.le-son666.com/software/mxdublin/index.html - its looks
pretty interesting.

I'm having a few teething troubles getting pdj and mxdublin to work. I
can get pdj to work the test examples, so I know the whole Java
connection is cool. The problem seems to be when instantiating [pdj
mxdublin]. Now it is clearly documented that to run a Swing OSC gui in
Pd on OS X, one has to reschedule the java gui thread through use of
the -schedlib startup flag. In the pdj docs, it says there is a bug in
PD that crashes it on startup, so there is a patch for Pd that the
author has distributed to remedy this.

Lo and behold, Pd is crashing on startup, so I need to fix this.

What I can't work out is:
a) how to use the *.patch file
a) Does the current latest stable version of Pd-extended 0.41.4 need
this patch?

Any help much appreciated. This will be way cool (i hope) if I can get
it working

cheers

Re: [PD] Finding zero crossing

2009-08-05 Thread Ed Kelly
Hi John,

I made an object to do just that. zeroxpos~
Have a look at the help file - it finds the 1st, 2nd or 3rd etc zero crossing
within a block of audio.
It's quite tricky to remove discontinuities though, and even when you start a
chunk on a zero-crossing point it does not guarantee there won't be a click.
Often there is anyway (because the signal goes from no activity to lots
instantaneously).

A a very short 5ms fade as Tim suggests might be better - but try it anyway.

Best,
Ed

 Hi Folks,

I have built a loop cutter that lets you rearrange a loop
using radio buttons. The main playback object is a phasor~.
Each radio button sends a number corresponding to a specific
16th to the phasor~ which then jumps to the correct part of
the loop. The main trouble I'm having is audio
discontinuities as I have no way of shifting the cuts to
land on zero crossings. Has anyone any idea how to fix this,
 either automatically or manually?

 Cheers,
 John

[PD] Mandriva Package

2009-08-05 Thread Thomas Holzmann

Hello,

I want to use pd on Mandriva 2009.1 and the included mandriva package
does not work. I'm getting this error:

sh: /usr/lib/pd/bin/pd-gui: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden (in
english: file or directory not found)

Does someone have a working mandriva package, preferably pd-extended?

Thanks!

Regards,
Thomas

[PD] puredata/gridflow/xp

2009-08-05 Thread sisil mehta
Hey,
i downloaded the gridflow-xp version. but none of the .pd progs from
gridflow are working. i installed ruby 1.8 and have added the gridflow files
in the respective directories. However puredata gives the following error:

we are using Ruby version 1.8.6
(done)
ERROR: Cannot load GridFlow-for-Ruby (gridflow.so)

How do i solve this?? even if i do get gridflow working on xp, will i be
able to use the motion detect.pd which will use a camera? if so how?
