python-texttable has:

python-texttable
Reverse Depends:
  Depends: elastalert
  Depends: elastalert
  Depends: python-igraph

which means I shouldn't remove it right now. Based on a quick
investigation, python-igraph reverse-depends on taskcoach, which,
according to:

  https://sourceforge.net/p/taskcoach/bugs/1674/

will probably stay Python 2-only for a while...

The good news is that elastalert has recently been converted to Python
3.

OK, I am doing the proper "affects" with this message. I am also
considering this message as proper "documentation", but please let me
know if I should do something else.

Thanks,

I looked at plastex the other day and found:

* there is a new python3-compatible upstream release 2.0

https://github.com/tiarno/plastex/commit/ac3b2c6090e7871f0f966339f6d65b499ad0afaf

* the new upstream release is not compatible with Python 3.7 or later, there
is some work towards this in https://github.com/tiarno/plastex/issues/109
 and https://github.com/tiarno/plastex/pull/118

I have (sort-of-tested) packaging for 2.0.0-1 carrying the relevant patches
from PR#118 and will upload something soonish (or at least push that work
to salsa).

[Python-modules-team] Bug#937704: python-django: Python2 removal in sid/bullseye

Hi Matthias,

Package: src:python-django
Version: 2:2.2.4-1

This appears to be a false-positive:

 python-django (2:2.2.3-2) unstable; urgency=medium

   * Upload (Python 3.x-only) branch to unstable after the release of
Debian "buster".
   * Update debian/gbp.conf to refer to debian/sid after merge.

  -- Chris Lamb Sun, 07 Jul 2019 11:59:04 -0300

 [..]

 python-django (1:2.0~alpha1-2) experimental; urgency=medium

New upstream alpha release of Django 2.0.

   * Drop Python 2.x support:
- Remove python-django and python-django-common binary packages and
  splitting logic.

   [..]

  -- Chris Lamb Tue, 26 Sep 2017 18:01:30 +0100

Can you point out what I'm missing here?

1:1.11.22-1 can still be seen as cruft(?) in unstable. The transition tracker
still sees it.

Python2 becomes end-of-live upstream, and Debian aims to remove
Python2 from the distribution, as discussed in
https://lists.debian.org/debian-python/2019/07/msg00080.html

Your package either build-depends, depends on Python2, or uses Python2
in the autopkg tests. Please stop using Python2, and fix this issue
by one of the following actions.

- Convert your Package to Python3. This is the preferred option. In
case you are providing a Python module foo, please consider dropping
the python-foo package, and only build a python3-foo package. Please
don't drop Python2 modules, which still have reverse dependencies,
  just document them.

  This is the preferred option.

- If the package is dead upstream, cannot be converted or maintained
in Debian, it should be removed from the distribution. If the
package still has reverse dependencies, raise the severity to
"serious" and document the reverse dependencies with the BTS affects
command. If the package has no reverse dependencies, confirm that
the package can be removed, reassign this issue to ftp.debian.org,
make sure that the bug priority is set to normal and retitle the
issue to "RM: PKG -- removal triggered by the Python2 removal".

- If the package has still many users (popcon >= 300), or is needed to
build another package which cannot be removed, document that by
adding the "py2keep" user tag (not replacing the py2remove tag),
using the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org user. Also any
dependencies on an unversioned python package (python, python-dev)
must not be used, same with the python shebang. These have to be
replaced by python2/python2.7 dependencies and shebang.

This is the least preferred option.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:django-tables

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:python-tzlocal

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC

issue to "RM: PKG -- removal triggered by the Python2 removal".

- If the package has still many users (popcon >= 300), or is needed to

2019-08-30 Thread Joseph Herlant
Hi Matthias,

I was surprised to receive this mail as I thought that migration had
already been done but it turns out that the doc package was still
depending on python-doc instead of python3-doc.

I'll upload the new version shortly.

Thanks,
Joseph

[Python-modules-team] Bug#938965: Alsaseq constants are wrong

2019-08-30 Thread François Mazen
Package: python3-pyalsa
Version: 1.1.6-2

Dear Maintainer,

upgrading python3-pyalsa from version 1.0.29-1 (python2) to version
1.1.6-2 (python3) changes the values of the alsaseq constants like
SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT.
Then alsaseq.Sequencer call with theses constants fails with message:
OverflowError: signed integer is greater than maximum

If I replace the constant by their integer values, like 1 for
SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT, no error raised.

To reproduce, in python3 interactive console with python3-pyalsa 1.1.6-
2 (Debian Unstable):

-

Python 3.7.4 (default, Aug 21 2019, 16:01:23)
[GCC 9.2.1 20190813] on linux
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> from pyalsa import alsaseq
>>> sequencer = alsaseq.Sequencer(name='default',
... clientname="solfege-alsa.py",
... streams=alsaseq.SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT,
... mode=alsaseq.SEQ_NONBLOCK)
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "", line 4, in
OverflowError: signed integer is greater than maximum
>>> alsaseq.SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT
SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT(0x1)
>>> alsaseq.SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT.real
3495274726
>>> sequencer = alsaseq.Sequencer(name='default',
... clientname="solfege-alsa.py",
... streams=1,
... mode=1)
>>> sequencer

-

Same commands in python2 interactive console with python-pyalsa 1.0.29-
1 (Debian Stretch):

-

Python 2.7.13 (default, Sep 26 2018, 18:42:22)
[GCC 6.3.0 20170516] on linux2
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
>>> from pyalsa import alsaseq
>>> sequencer = alsaseq.Sequencer(name='default',
... clientname="solfege-alsa.py",
... streams=alsaseq.SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT,
... mode=alsaseq.SEQ_NONBLOCK)
>>> sequencer

>>> alsaseq.SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT
1
>>> alsaseq.SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT.real
1

-

It looks like the Constant class does not return the right value for
SEQ_OPEN_OUTPUT (3495274726 instead of 1) in 1.1.6-2 version. This
leads to the integer overflow because 3495274726 is greater than the
typical signed integer upper limit (2147483647).

I've found the behavior change while trying to fix the Bug#935535 [1]:
solfege: crashes with python3-pyalsa installed

Thanks,
François

Unfortunately it's hard to determine programmatically if it's cruft or not.
You might mark this bug as being blocked by the bugs for the other packages.
Also, getting them cleaned up may help with getting Django updates to migrate
to Testing (not sure).

python-tap is a build-dependency for dbus-python, which lots of packages
depend on, so we cannot remove dbus-python yet.

I would prefer to keep dbus-python's unit tests working (i.e. keep
python-tap) until we are in a position to remove the python-dbus binary
package.

Hi Matthias,

> Package: src:python-django

This appears to be a false-positive:

python-django (2:2.2.3-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Upload (Python 3.x-only) branch to unstable after the release of
Debian "buster".
  * Update debian/gbp.conf to refer to debian/sid after merge.

[..]

python-django (1:2.0~alpha1-2) experimental; urgency=medium

New upstream alpha release of Django 2.0.

  * Drop Python 2.x support:
- Remove python-django and python-django-common binary packages and
  splitting logic.

Can you point out what I'm missing here?

[Python-modules-team] Bug#938922: zsi: Python2 removal in sid/bullseye

2019-08-30 Thread Matthias Klose
Package: src:zsi
Version: 2.1~a1-4
Severity: normal
Tags: sid bullseye
User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: py2removal

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:zsi

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

[Python-modules-team] Bug#938814: websocket-client: Python2 removal in sid/bullseye

2019-08-30 Thread Matthias Klose
Package: src:websocket-client
Version: 0.53.0-1
Severity: normal
Tags: sid bullseye
User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: py2removal

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:testpath

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
a bug on this package (similar to this bug report).

If there are questions, please refer to the wiki page for the removal:
https://wiki.debian.org/Python/2Removal, or ask for help on IRC
#debian-python, or the debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org mailing list.

[Python-modules-team] Bug#938523: sparql-wrapper-python: Python2 removal in sid/bullseye

2019-08-30 Thread Matthias Klose
Package: src:sparql-wrapper-python
Version: 1.8.2-0.1
Severity: normal
Tags: sid bullseye
User: debian-pyt...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: py2removal

If the conversion or removal needs action on another package first,
please document the blocking by using the BTS affects command, like

  affects + src:sparql-wrapper-python

If there is no py2removal bug for that reverse-dependency, please file
