*JOB DESCRIPTION:*
Responsible for analysis, design, coding and testing of new applications or
enhancements to existing applications using Java-based technologies,
including Java, J2EE, JSP, XML, JDBC, and Servlets. Must be able to apply
SDLC concept and have a proven track record of delivering solid, robust
applications. Must have a solid understanding of Object Oriented
Programming. Strong communication skills are required as position will
interact with business owners. 6+ years of prior Java development experience
required.
Job Summary: * Technical expertise in web development, as well as ability to
define and document technology system scope, objectives, and requirements.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities: * Create system designs to
facilitate the inter-operability of large-scale business systems for new web
applications that provide functionality supporting railroad activities. *
Research, analyze, and define business solutions of large systems scope and
complexity. Prepare detailed specifications for large complex projects and
design solutions for complex business problems. * Document test cases,
expected test results, test data requirements, and collaborate with testing
teams and business partners to resolve testing problems. * Code, debug, test
and support utilities, tools, and frameworks to support the application
development process. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelors degree required in
Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems/Technology *
5 or more years experience required in Software Applications Design and
Development Equivalent Minimum Qualifications: * High School diploma/GED or
Associates degree required * 7 or more years experience required in Software
Applications Design and Development Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelors
degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information
Systems/Technology AND 7 or more years of experience in Software
Applications Design and Development Required Knowledge and Skills: *
Knowledge of J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) methodology * Knowledge of
Java 1.5+ * JavaScript\AJAX * Knowledge of HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language)
and XML (extensible Markup Language) * Knowledge of Web Sphere 6.1+ *
Knowledge of RAD 7.0+ (Rational Application Developer) application
development skills or other eclipse based tool * Knowledge of software
development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts* Programming skills Preferred
Knowledge and Skills: * Ability to use multiple tools and techniques to
facilitate the design, development, and integration of business systems in a
web environment * Ability to develop contingency plans, analyze systems for
efficiencies, and develop test case scenarios * Ability to communicate
effectively (both written and orally) with all levels of audiences *
Knowledge of Oracle database management system (DBMS) and PL/SQL* Knowledge
of Agile Scrum methodologies and their application * Knowledge of Rational
Version control tools (ClearCase/ClearQuest) * Knowledge of change
management processes * Experience with EXT JS helpful * Experience with JSF
* Experience in developing web applications in both IE and Firebox .
