Re: [Texascavers] 2018 NSS Convention
So this is the official start of the annual David Locklear Last Minute Road Trip to the NSS Convention Drama. I’ll take bets right now that you are going to go and that you will drive there. I’m looking forward to the next installment. Marvin From: Texascavers [mailto:texascavers-boun...@texascavers.com] On Behalf Of David Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2018 6:21 PM To: CaveTex Subject: [Texascavers] 2018 NSS Convention In case you have not heard, this year's NSS Convention is 1,697 mile drive each way from The Center of the Caving Universe. That is 3,394 miles for you Aggies, assuming no detours or driving after you get there. You might as well budget 3,500 miles if to hope to drive it. I drove to the historic conventions at: Porterville, Essex Junction, Huntsville ( twice ), Rio Rancho, and Lake City. I have also driven on several similar very long road trips to 3 Mexpeleos and other road-trips. In summary - been there done that. I do not ever plan on another long road-trip. If I can't fly, then I ain't going to any other far away places, especially Tasmania or Montana. Here is the link to the convention website: http://nss2018.caves.org/ Please note that it starts July 30th. That is 124 days away for you Aggies. So if you drive you need to leave early on July 28th If I save $ 10 every day, that is $ 1,240. That is probably not enough to go. So I need to plan on setting aside $ 20 per day for the next 124 days. Chances of that happening are about as likely as President Tr*mp caught in a p*rn video with former Mexican President Vicente F*x. [Texascavers] 2018 NSS Convention
>From David Locklear dlocklea...@gmail.com The link below supposedly updates several times per day offering a view of the town where the next NSS Convention will take place. ( They are expecting a big snow tomorrow - a storm named "Frankie." ) http://www.krtv.com/category/325608/helena-i-cam?clienttype=generic&smartdevicecgbypass Meanwhile, I had to cancel my idea to drive to the NSS Party, so I began to ponder how on Earth I could find a way to make it to the Convention in July. I imagine I will have to skip that. As far as New Year's Eve goes, I have to work Friday, so all the fuss that I made last week about a tentative road-trip was for nothing. However, I should have some gas money to at least leave town. ___ Texascavers mailing list | http://texascavers.com Texascavers@texascavers.com | Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/texascavers@texascavers.com/ http://lists.texascavers.com/listinfo/texascavers
