I forgot to mention: You can, of course, create a javascript macro

I've converted the standard mysamplemacro from tiddlywiki.com to
JavaScript. You can view it on http://tw5magick.tiddlyspot.com/ in the
tiddler "Javascript Macros in WikiText".

Have fun…

Although the focus of Jeremy's hangout is the new TiddlyWiki, all questions
are always welcome. For TWC, I also host a separate "TiddlyWiki Classic
Clinic". This was originally scheduled for Thursday's 3pm-5pm (California
time), and was then moved to Saturday, noon-2pm, to accomodate people who
have more time on the weekend, as well as a bit earlier to allow UK and EU
people to participate. The "Clinic" sessions have been on temporary hiatus
for December, but I plan to resume regular clinic sessions next week.

[tw] TW5 - copying tiddler as html?

2014-01-09 Thread Andrew Lister
Hi,

I've been away from TW for a while, but am excited by the looks of TW5. My
question is how best to get my lecture outlines from TW5 (including basic
formatting, bullets and tables and such) into my university's Moodle wiki
module. Outside of TW, I've been using a text editor (NValt) to write in
Markdown, then copying and pasting the previewed html, which is fairly
simple and painless. What's the easiest way to do the same thing with TW,
if I'm doing it on a regular basis, and if I'm constantly tinkering,
revising, etc., not just doing a once and for all export?

Thanks for any help and advice,

Andrew

Basically all the plugins listed at http://tiddlywiki.squize.org/ have

[tw] TW5 - Making a "global" macro

Hi

I wrote a simple macro for a ToDo list and I plan to use it in a number of
tiddlers. So far I was able to make it work by defining the same macro in
every tiddler, but I'm wondering if there is a way of defining the macro
just once and making it available in every tiddler.

Thanks

Re: [tw] using TW5 for study

2014-01-09 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Pedro

You've pretty much got it.

* Fields are not currently searchable (but the plan is that they will be)
* Fields are useful for adding a named value to a tiddler; your examples
make sense
* Fields can be transcluded as you infer: {{!!color}} or <$transclude
field="color"/>

Tags are incredibly powerful on their own, and you may well find that they
meet most of your needs, but fields do make database-like applications a
lot easier.

Best wishes

Jeremy

OK, I've now had a two or three reports of what sounds like the same

Re: [tw] [TW5] http://tiddlywiki.com/ shows a blank screen in IE9 with TW 5.0.6-beta?

2014-01-09 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Jens

I'm not hopeful that TW5 will ever run properly on IE9; even though it's
better than previous versions, it's still pretty eccentric by HTML5
standards. But static HTML generated by HTML5 should work on anything, even
back to Netscape 4.

Are you able to open developer tools with F12 and look for any JavaScript
errors?

Many thanks,

Jeremy.

be the transitionEnd event used to remove the notification. I've changed it

The markdown plugin is implemented as a parser in TW5. There's no general
mechanism currently that would enable the highlight plugin to post process
the HTML that it generates. I think we'd have to modify the markdown plugin
to explicitly convert HTML code blocks into highlight widget invocations.

[tw] [TWC] SharedTiddlerPlugin, Firefox, and "This plugin has not been executed because it was added since startup"

2014-01-09 Thread David Bakin
Hi! I have been using TWC in IE in a setup where all my plugins are in a
tw called "base.html" and I include them into my "real" tiddlywiki files.
I just switched to Firefox and noticed this isn't working anymore. When I
load base.html directly into Firefox the plugins are all loaded (and
work). But in the other tws all of the included plugins fail to load with
the same error "This plugin has not been executed because it was added
since startup". What can I do to fix this?

More details:

a) In Base.html all my plugins are tagged with both systemConfig and
includePlugin.

b) In Base.html I have a tiddler called "IncludeHub" which contains this:

> <>
> <>
> <>
> < [[ToolbarCommands]]" substituteShadows>>

c) (note that I can't display or edit the tiddler IncludeHub from within
the browser! I've got to modify it in a text editor ...)

d) In each of the "derived" TiddlyWikis I have a copy of
SharedTiddlersPlugin (tagged sysConfig).

e) Then, in each of the "derived" TiddlyWikis I have a tiddler
"IncludeList" which looks like this:

> <>

The result has been, in IE, that all the plugins from Base.html get loaded
properly in all my derived TiddlyWikis. But now, though they're all
visible in my derived tiddlywikis, and IncludeList shows no error, in fact
none of the plugins are "loaded", they all get the error.

Thanks! -- David

Re: [tw] TW5: links and Markdown plugin

2014-01-09 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Chris

Wiki links in markdown text are not supported yet, and there's no
straightforward way to create them.

The rough idea I had was to postprocess the HTML generated by the markdown
plugin to convert links #links into wiki links, which would mean that you'd
use exactly the syntax you guessed.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

[tw] TW5: links and Markdown plugin

2014-01-09 Thread Chris Lott
I'm using the Markdown plugin from here:
http://tiddlywiki.com/markdowndemo.html

Text formatting works fine...but how can I link to other Tiddlers?

CamelCase links don't appear to work.

I thought a syntax like:
[Music to Look For](#Music to Look For)

would work, but while it looks and is (copies) exactly the same as if I
right-click on the navigation link to that Tiddler:

file:///Users/chris/Dropbox/tmp/tid5/index.html#Music%20to%20Look%20For

in the sidebar, it doesn't work in the Tiddler, though it does from the
sidebar...

[tw] importing Delicious bookmarks into TiddlyWiki5

2014-01-09 Thread FND
Hello all,

While evaluating TW5, I've written a set of scripts to convert Delicious
bookmars into tiddler (*.tid) files:
https://gist.github.com/FND/8332337

After exporting the bookmarks (via Settings > Manage within Delicious):

$ ./delicious2json < delicious-2014-01-09.html | \
./create_tiddlers /path/to/tiddlers

(Of course this assumes building TW5 from individual tiddlers; I'm using
it via Node[1].)

Aside: I've been experiencing some wonky behavior with drafts and other
state being restored at unexpected times, but have yet to come up with a
reliable way to reproduce (or even just articulate) the issue, which of
course leaves me concerned. Is this a known issue perhaps? Otherwise
I'll investigate further and start a thread elsewhere.

[tw] Using Image Map in TW5 to link to certain tiddlers

2014-01-09 Thread Oliver Nick
Hello!

I'm new to TiddlyWiki5 and I'm looking for a way to use an image map within
my tiddlywiki.

I'd like to have an image wherein I can click on different parts of that
image to open certain tiddlers. So this is supposed to be a means of
navigation. Both the image map and the target tiddlers are within my
tiddlywiki.

I can insert images in a tiddler.
I can use html in a tiddler.
I know how to do an image map in html.
TiddlyWiki does recognize the link within the image.

If I fill in an external link, e.g.

   http://www.google.com"; alt="google" title="google">

it works fine.

But how can I make this open a desired tiddler?

[tw] [TW5] http://tiddlywiki.com/ shows a blank screen in IE9 with TW 5.0.6-beta?

2014-01-09 Thread Jens Ulrik Jacobsen
To be more precise it's IE9.0.8812.16421.

When I mark all, copy and paste the "content" into a text editor, I end up
with 270 newline-characters.

This happens at work and at home.

No problems with Firefox.

I'm almost certain, that TW 5.0.5-beta worked with IE9.

Jeremy did not mention my humble attempt in creating a table syntax
enhancement. I already implemented it by using my replacepragma.

You can view my propsal on tiddlystuff.tiddlyspot.com in the
"ReplacePragma" tiddler and the "Tables with ReplacePragma" tiddler.

If you copy the ReplacePragma to your own wiki, you can already use my
proposed syntax in your wiki by just adding the top 2 lines from "Tables
with ReplacePragma" to your tiddlers where you want the syntax.

The syntax simply is:

   1. Any table row starting with whitespace is joined with the previous
   table row.
This allows you to break one table row into multiple lines in the source
to improve readability of the source.
   2. Any table row ending with ">" and followed by a line starting with
whitespace followed by "<" is considered a multiline table cell.

Please post here as a reply, any links to the GitHub post of the table

both of those, which sound promising!

I just started using 5.0.6 and noticed that sometimes the notification when

At the moment I do not know how to reproduce, but maybe someone here also

[tw] using TW5 for study

2014-01-09 Thread Pedro Maia

I've been using tiddlywiki to study chinese medicine and I know it can be
much more powerful that I can make use of it right now.

Right now I'm using tags to do everything, but I suspect that I could use
"field" to accomplish more, but I couldn't search for fields. A example of
what I'm doing is tagging Liver with: fire, yang, viscera, etc. It makes
easy to find anything I want, I type yang, fire, viscera and it founds
liver. If I need to find a simpton or treatment I just need to type the
tags.

I think filters would made the job to enter information much easier since
it could have a default tiddler template for different needs. But, since I
couldn't manage to search for a field I'm not using them. Maybe I'm not
sure what is fields job. I think I can use them to substitute tags like
this:

- Wood Tiddler

- fields:

 - color: green

 - organ: liver

 - season: spring

 - emotion: rage

I would transclude this fields at the tiddler with: <$transclude
field="color"/>

What else I could do with TW5?

Yes, I saw that too. They've also made it open source, which had been a
barrier for me getting too excited about it. I've got rather too many
TiddlySideProjects already, but I'd certainly love to see someone explore a
TiddlyWiki plugin for LightTable.
