I know this is a antique thread and device but the Touch may become more popular with the new CORE32 LMS that you can pre-order. I have two Touches and the remotes were in terrible condition. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch remote control
When my remote became unpleasantly sticky I opened up the unit and treated the top part with silicone remover (the stuff you use in bathrooms etc). Paint it on and leave overnight. It took a few applications, but exposed the shiny plastic surface underneath and did not remove the lettering. cbee's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=67517 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107639 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

Thanks for the pictures and instructions. My remote had not been used for a long time. When I opened it today the batteries was in a miserable shape. Sweat and ruined batteries. By open up and get rid of all battery "sweat" inside of the remote I finally made it work again. My good old Squeezbox Touch that have been working mainly as a clock for many years has reinvented itself to be the preferred Internet radio "box". Very nice sounding compared to DAB+. Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Remote Control Codes
@Seven: Thanks for the spreadsheet - that was very helpful! I cut-n-pasted all of the codes into ProntoEdit and they work. (Well, most of them: the code for '1' is actually '0', the one for '2' is '1', the one for '3' is '2'. I had the Pronto learn the code for '3' and now I have a full set.) You offered (to someone else?) an explanation of how you went from the SB Touch keycodes to those large strings: I'd like to understand the process. My SliMP3, Squeezebox 2, SB Boom and SB Touch now all use the same IR codes, _including_ the 'keys' that are not even on the remotes, but that I happened to use all the time (especially the discrete codes for pwr_on and pwr_off). With time, I'll post the CCF file to remotecentral.com, so anyone struggling with the same problem won't have to cut-n-paste all those codes. Thanks again, Seven! I used "learn" to program my SB3 remote to my AVR learning remote years ago. All of my learned buttons seem to work fine with Touch, but I did not bother programming every single SB3 remote button either. Which ones are you having trouble with? I'll try those on my end for comparison, if you want. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77401 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Remote Control Codes
Thanks for your reply but that is way over my head. I had some luck having the universal remote learn the codes from the SD remote but not 100%. -- paltomare paltomare's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2062 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77401 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch
Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch Remote Control Codes
paltomare;536725 Wrote: > Still struggling with the remote codes, can't get them to work on my URC > MX-950. Anyone with similar problems/solutions? I just tried a backward approach -- applying the ideas in 'this thread about Radio IR' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=69634) to update the /usr/share/jive/jive/irMap_default.lua file on my Touch so that it would be hard-coded to accept JVC codes instead of Slim (e.g. map arrow_down to the JVC code 0xf78b instead of the Slim code 0x7689b04f). I didn't have any luck, but I have a pre-release hardware build, I think at least two revisions older than the retail units. So you might have better luck. The basic idea is to SSH into Touch, cd to /usr/share/jive/jive and edit the irMap_default.lua file, changing the hex values. Once you do that, you'll need to reboot Touch for the changes to take effect (simply restarting the 'jive' user interface app does not suffice). If you're comfortable with Linux and vi, I'd suggest you try it. Save a copy of irMap_default.lua in case you have to revert, and give it a shot. I'm pretty skeptical -- I think it may be the case that the IR circuits on Touch have either been programmed to ignore JVC codes (which would make sense -- the Touch UI should be more responsive if the IR circuit doesn't bother it with every silly IR signal that comes its way), or perhaps are even physically incapable of recognizing both Squeezebox and JVC codes -- see 'this comment from Felix' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=518771&postcount=5) which isn't entirely clear about whether the IR limitation discussed in *that* thread is an intrinsic hardware issue or design choice. -- peterw http://www.tux.org/~peterw/ Free plugins: 'AllQuiet' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AllQuiet.html) 'Auto Dim/AutoDisplay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/AutoDisplay.html) 'BlankSaver' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/BlankSaver.html) 'ContextMenu' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/ContextMenu.html) 'DenonSerial' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/DenonSerial.html) 'FuzzyTime' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/FuzzyTime.html) 'KidsPlay' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KidsPlay.html) 'KitchenTimer' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/KitchenTimer.html) 'PlayLog' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PlayLog.html) 'PowerCenter/BottleRocket' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/PowerCenter.html) 'SaverSwitcher' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SaverSwitcher.html) 'SettingsManager' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SettingsManager.html) 'SleepFade' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SleepFade.html) 'StatusFirst' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/StatusFirst.html) 'SyncOptions' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/SyncOptions.html) 'VolumeLock' (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/VolumeLock.html) peterw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2107 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=77401 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

I've had no trouble with my remotes, both Slim/Logitech and One For All that I've programmed with Slim hex codes.
