Re: [U2] Record Locking Problems
Hi Karen, For reference although the RECORDLOCKU statement does not support an array in it's syntax it does read the record on UniVerse, it does not on UniData. Your assumption is correct that it shouldn't read the record, as it only needs to access the lock table which is a memory structure, if you want to test this for yourself do a test on UniData and UniVerse on RECORDLOCKU v READU and you'll see there is almost no time difference on UniVerse. [U2] U2U UK You Need to Be There (BTW Register Now and Win an IPod)
Hi All, Following on from the successes of U2U in Denver and Sydney it's rolling it's way towards the UK and London. There are many reasons why you should be attending U2U but if need convincing here are some for you. There are over 40 Technical Tracks from which everyone will learn, no matter what their skill or experience level. It's a chance to meet the developers and engineers that you would not normally get. It's a chance to see some of the new functionality and technology's we are adopting and putting into the products before they become formally released and as such you will have a chance to influence the direction we are taking with these. Free U2 Certification tests in Administration and Application Development. Now if that's not enough, anyone attending U2U in London will be entered into a draw for an Ipod. All this for less than the cost of a formal training course ... what more can I say excellent value for money and you need to be there. Hi All, Final tip for UniVerse install on Linux it will require compress / uncompress which is not installed by default onto Linux, so suggest you get it installed or maybe try linking compress to zip etc. Regards, Jonathan D Smith SWG Client Support - Software U2 Service Delivery Team Technical Support Consultant HOT: U2 University - Register today for the Premier U2 Event Unless stated otherwise above: IBM United Kingdom Limited - Registered in England and Wales with number 741598. Fw: [U2] [UV] QSELECT in transaction
Hi All, Just needed to clear up where we are with QSELECT question for everyone on the list. We've done some researching on the issue, as it is also a currently active support case asked by a customer in South Africa. Previous comments about the interaction with the SAVEDLISTS file would be incorrect, after all SAVE.LIST is also allowed in a transaction. We are unsure at this time if the omission of QSELECT was by design or an oversight. We have been able to get QSELECT to work within a transaction by a simple change, however we are still looking to see if this change has any unwanted interactions or implications in other areas of the transaction or UniVerse. The good news is that, if the tests go well then you will be able to make the same change for yourselves without having to upgrade UniVerse. [U2] Re: Identifying UD files
Adam, Here is how to identify if a VOC pointer is a valid UniData File ... You will also notice a handy tip in the ELSE clause code. OPEN "VOCNAME" TO F.FILE THEN FILETYPE = FILEINFO(F.FILE,3) ; * Refer to UniBasic Commands Reference Manual for full list (For Reference 2 Hashed, 3 Dynamic, 4 Directory, 5 Sequential, 7 nfa, 8 os) END ELSE CRT "Cannot Open File" ; * Also check udterrlog file as this will explain why the file couldn't be opened (6.0.7 onwards) from 6.0.9 onwards reporting is controlled via the UDTERRLOG_LEVEL environment variable END Regards, Jonathan Smith IBM Certified Solutions Expert Advanced Support Engineer - U2 Advanced Technical Support IBM Data Management Solutions Support Phone 0800 773 771 Support mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.ibm.com/software/data/u2/support - Open, Query, Update, Search - Online! RE: [U2] DATE conversion problems
Hi, You are correct by default UniVerse will use the American Format unless overridden by DATE.FORMAT in the LOGIN or UV.LOGIN paragraph. However, a little used method (which is documented, but ignored by most) is to force the Date Format in the conversion you use. For example if you use the conversion 'D4/' then today would appear as 01/10/2006 or 10/01/2006 depending upon DATE.FORMAT. However if you use the conversion 'D4/E' it will always appear as 10/01/2006 irrespective of the DATE.FORMAT command. So where you are using a date conversion , add 'E' to the end and it should work.
