[Bug 131580] Re: ltsp-build-client restart X server of the host
This bug was marked Incomplete for a long time now, nobody confirmed it either. I wasn't able to reproduce it during my test installations, X was also changed quite a lot since Feisty (based on the time of the bug report) so I think it's fair to assume that the bug disappeared (as Intel video card are pretty common). dammit. Not sure why it was really necessary to actually delete the folder from the repos though, rather than just not updating it - makes maintenance much harder. [Bug 315542] Re: X hangs on ubuntu 8.1 intrepid laptop
I just experienced this issue on a Q45 running Intrepid. Xorg locked up just after receiving a message in Pidgin, before the message displayed. Got a bunch of [mi] mieqEnequeue: out-of-order valuator event; dropping. [mi] EQ overflowing. The server is probably stuck in an infinite loop. in Xorg.0.log. Eventually the mieqEnequeue messages stopped and it just spun with EQ overflowing. Killing Xorg turned it into a zombie process. I had to log in using SSH and reboot the machine that way. The video was locked up, and graphics corruption occurred during the shutdown process. lspci -vvnn and Xorg.0.log to follow... -- X hangs on ubuntu 8.1 intrepid laptop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/315542 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 318358] [NEW] Audio does not work for some wmv files
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: totem Looking at the properties for the file, the following information is given: Video Codec: Microsoft Windows Media 9 Framerate: 8 frames per second Audio Codec: Windows Media Audio Speech Properties also claims that no audio channels are present, however I have played the file in Windows Media Player (Grudgingly) and it definitely had audio. This is a problem on several files from the same publisher (New Mexico State University, but the download site is password protected and I would have to get permission to post somewhere else). Some files from the same site work great. [Bug 318354] [NEW] package linux-image-2.6.27-9-generic 2.6.27-9.19 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess pre-removal script returned error exit status 2
Public bug reported: I'm using grub2, so there seems to be an incompatibility with the kernel uninstall script that means I need to switch back to grub 1 whenever I need to remove an old kernel. Also, the reason I needed to uninstall the old kernel was because the update-grub script was building the grub.cfg kernel list in the wrong order and loading on the of the older kernels by default. [Bug 313724] Re: hibernate doesn't work
I also have exactly the same bug in Intrepid amd64 when using swapfile instead of swap partition. Unfortunately, swap file is the only option to use on a tripple-boot MacBook/Pro (Ubuntu, Mac OSX, WinXP). Long story short, individual limitations of GRUB, Mac OSX, WinXP and EFI conspire against using any extended partitions, limiting to 4 MBR partitions, one of which is taken by GUID/GPT/EFI partition. That leaves no swap partition. I hope use case on MacBook/MacBookPro will raise priority of the bug. Just my 2 cents: It looks like the disk is removed before the memory image has been written. It smells like a race condition. Perhaps, somewhere in the kernel/PM code there is a check for not removing or postponing removal of a swap partition, but for partition with swap file there is no such check. Ubuntu is not alone here - cross to Red Hat Bug #466408 (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=466408). Thank you for your bug report. To maintain a respectful atmosphere, please follow the code of conduct - http://www.ubuntu.com/community/conduct/ . Bug reports are handled by humans, the majority of whom are volunteers, so please bear this in mind. This is said in direct reference to: d) why can't ubuntu get anything right! nothing ever seems to work, you get 99% there and then there is always a glitch of some sort. and when help is offered it is usually given in 100 lines of code that old fashioned windows users simply don't understand. [Bug 317370] Re: A program shouldn't get the focus if the focus has been changed between the start and the ready state of the program
Well, that's one opinion. I think it's a matter of perspective. I think the fact that it's an issue, but the only way to solve it is to write code...makes it a bug. To me this kind of functionality should be configurable. It doesn't seem to be. Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to a question in the support tracker. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but it would make more sense to raise problems you are having in the support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are bugs. [Bug 175191] Re: f-spot changes timestamp in an incorrect way
Is anything being done about this? F-Spot is touted as a major feature of Ubuntu: http://www.ubuntu.com/products/whatisubuntu/810features/photos/ but this bug ruins date and time data attached to imported photos, and for good. It makes F-Spot completely unusable for me since I want this information intact. I imagine there are few, if any, people who feel differently. It seems as though this should be considered of High importance at the Gnome bug-list, yet there's been no activity at all. That is, as far as I can tell. I see the "attachments" at the bottom of the Gnome Bugzilla page but don't know what to make of them. It looks like the first step is to elevate the Priority and Severity of the bug: http://live.gnome.org/Bugsquad/TriageGuide#head-a30bd0d8437bffda426b7aba01a1f9ac32acb0c5 Is that right? Or perhaps it would be better to drop into the #bugs IRC channel to see if I can generate some discussion on this topic: http://developer.gnome.org/projects/bugsquad/ Anyway, if there's any way I can help please let me know.
