[Bug 386867] Re: package mysql-server-5.0 5.1.30really5.0.75-0ubuntu10.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Umm, I'm really trying to help here. Note that my patience is running thin, and I don't appreciate the patronizing tone. Here is what I've done to disable AppArmor on my system: sudo invoke-rc.d apparmor stop sudo update-rc.d -f apparmor remove After this, everything on my system works smoothly, including mysql. I don't need apparmor, so there is no point in trying to configure it, or to put it in complain mode, or whatever. I own this machine, therefore I and only I decide what can run on it and what can't. I decided to get rid of AppArmor. I do not want to disable any profile. I simply choose to not run AppArmor at all. The repro steps are pretty simple. Once AppArmor is disabled (as per above), every update that wants to restart mysql fails, because it also starts AppArmor before that. Since AppArmor has never been configured on this machine, you can imagine that the defaults will break a lot of stuff. I asked that the update leave AppArmor alone, if it's stopped or disabled. It shouldn't be a big deal. It's not a problem for me anymore, since I removed the apparmor script from /etc/init.d, but perhaps it will help other people. This is about all the info I can provide. Thanks for your patience and help. -- package mysql-server-5.0 5.1.30really5.0.75-0ubuntu10.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/386867 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 345957] Re: iscsid is looking for targets prior to network being available
As of 2009.06.15 the issue remains in intrepid (2.6.28-11-server). Moving S25open-iscsi to S50open-iscsi does not resolve the issue. As a temporary workaround, I have added the following to /etc/rc.local so that iSCSI volumes/devices configured with the _netdev option in /etc/fstab are mounted after boot: mount -a -O _netdev Granted, the _netdev option is not currently effective during normal boot, but this does allow the (re-)mounting of only those devices. I have also found it helpful at this point to change the restart and shutdown order so that iSCSI targets are logged off prior to stopping networking, as follows: $ sudo mv /etc/rc0.d/S41open-iscsi /etc/rc0.d/S32open-iscsi $ sudo mv /etc/rc6.d/S41open-iscsi /etc/rc6.d/S32open-iscsi -- iscsid is looking for targets prior to network being available https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/345957 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to open-iscsi in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 359309] Re: mysql client package has broken SSL support
That upstream bug looks likely to be the cause. I don't use client certificates. But regardless of the source of the error, shouldn't Ubuntu build its package in a way that works rather than one that doesn't? OpenSSL is already installed on the stock system (even openssh relies on libssl) - does YaSSL provide some compelling advantage? What rationale was there for building MySQL against an alternative library? I doubt that whoever made that decision reasoned it through; if they had, they would probably have tested the most common use case for SSL connections and made sure the two libraries could be interchanged. I think the right solution here is to switch MySQL to build against OpenSSL rather than yassl, in the absence of an upstream recommendation or a solid rationale for making the opposite decision. -- mysql client package has broken SSL support https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/359309 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to mysql-dfsg-5.0 in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Re: [Bug 373513] Re: mysql fails to install
Problem solved! I'd moved /var/lib to /home/var/lib (to save space) and made /var/lib a symbolic link to that directory. This must have caused a problem with apparmor, as per the line below: Jun 15 19:19:02 micks-t400 kernel: [29451.814871] type=1503 audit(1245107942.002:30): operation=inode_create requested_mask=a:: denied_mask=a:: fsuid=0 name=/home/var/lib/mysql/micks-t400.lower-test pid=1895 profile=/usr/sbin/mysqld Copying /home/var/lib back to /var/lib (after removing the symbolic link) fixed the problem, and mysql installed successfully. [Bug 387171] [NEW] dkim-filter fails to work if it cannot open a TCP connection to nameserver port DNS
Public bug reported: I noticed that when running ubuntu 8.04 Server edition, dkim-filter will work properly if it can not open a TCP connection to the nameserver port DNS. [Bug 370978] Re: Package failed to install and crashed...
Derrick: Thanks for the report. Your steps to reproduce the issue seem somewhat roundabout to me. Bear in mind that any time you have to build packages from source in order to reproduce a bug, there is probably a better (simpler) way to do things! Nevertheless, I tried to follow your approach. Here is what I tried to reproduce this issue: (1) Create a new virtual machine, and install Ubuntu Desktop 9.04 i386 on it. (2) In a terminal window in that newly created Ubuntu 9.04 machine, do: # Install older Jaunty version of bibledit sudo apt-get -y install bibledit (3) Now to try to reproduce your approach and this issue. In a terminal window, do: # Install basic development tools sudo apt-get -y install build-essential devscripts # Grab the latest bibledit source package 3.7-1 from Ubuntu archives mkdir -p ~/packages/bibledit cd ~/packages/bibledit dget ftp://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/b/bibledit/bibledit_3.7-1.dsc dpkg-source -x *.dsc # Install build dependencies sudo apt-get -y build-dep bibledit # Install more build dependenceis for the newer package sudo apt-get -y install rcs libenchant-dev libgtkhtml3.14-dev git-core sudo apt-get -y install libcurl4-gnutls-dev libgtksourceview2.0-dev # Build new version of bibledit from source cd bibledit-3.7 debuild -us -uc # Install it sudo dpkg -i ../*.deb This works fine, and bibledit (version 3.7) now runs normally on this system. HOWEVER, after more experimenting, I did find a way to reproduce the issue -- it seems to require that you install bibledit-data before installing/updating bibledit itself. NOTE: The simpler way by far to get to this point in Jaunty at the moment would be to use the CrossWire Packaging Team PPA and so avoid needing to build anything from scratch, by replacing (3) above with: wget https://launchpad.net/~pkgcrosswire/+archive/ppa/+files/crosswire-ppa_1.6~09.04_all.deb sudo dpkg -i crosswire*.deb sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y install bibledit Job done -- this approach also works fine, needs no development tools, and is a *lot* quicker :) Oh, and you'll get updates as we release them into the PPA, too! Once Karmic is released, we expect to be able to get a backported version of bibledit 3.7 into the jaunty-backports repository, so people can enable that and install from there, rather that needing to use a (less trusted) PPA. I'll package Bibledit 3.7.42 (the latest source tarball release of Bibledit) and correct this issue.
[Bug 387179] [NEW] usability issue in quick connect
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tsclient We are getting a lot of people in our office to start using Ubuntu - and Terminal Services is an important part of it. I have seen a lot of people expecting the following: 1. The Quick Connect dropdown has a list of saved profiles 2. When you select a particular profile from Quick Connect, the Logon Settings section gets populated with the profile settings. 3. When you press connect, terminal services connects according to the logon settings (which came from a saved profile) 4. With reference to Bug #160038 , the last N hosts connected to (but not saved *explicitly* as a named profile) should still be available in the Quick Connect dropdown, named as the IP address of the machine you used. The explicitly saved profiles and the auto-saved last-n-hosts can be separated by a separator. 5. Do NOT save passwords unless a checkbox (Save Password?) is ticked. This is to prevent a sysadmin temporarily using a machine to connect and having the password saved. I have had a lot of people being surprised when selection of a profile (#2 above) causes a connection to launch. These people are used to the way putty handles profiles and it was very puzzling for them. It would be great if these usability issues are addressed! thanks. ** Affects: tsclient (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- usability issue in quick connect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/387179 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 379593] Re: 3G sierra wireless card cannot connect. Driver Loads but unable to dial.
Hi Bejay, et. al. I have a Fujitsu T2010 that has a built in Sierra MC8780 3G modem. Like you worked fine in earlier versions now in 9.04 it doesn't. Connects, logs in and then gets reset/closed. I updated the Driver - but this did not resolve the NM issue. It did however let me manually use pppd to connect. When comparing the logs for NM vs. direct I noticed that direct uses /dev/ttyUSB0 for comms whilst NM appears to be trying to use /dev/ttyUSB2 for comms. It would appear that NM is trying to talk across the wrong device in my case, but at this time I am not sure how to change NM's behaviour. Can anybody help with this?? As a result - there appears to be a bug in the NM environment in choosing the correct device.
