[Bug 439538] Re: Grub2 don't provide a option for rename menuentry on /etc/default/grub

2009-10-29 Thread dreamon
I think this "bug" should have more priority.

Most notebook they have a recovery partition to recover to factory settings.
grub2 takes the menuentry with nearly same name Name in grub.cfg
-> "Windows Vista (/dev/sda1) -> This one boots Windows
-> "Windows Vista (/dev/sda2) -> This boots the recoverymode -> With this its
possible to delete hole Linux partitions

So I want this to rename for other people to clearly see that this is really
dangerous to start.

Is it possible to change by hand ? and how?

[Bug 463381] Re: moodle package is lacking critical dependancy on php-db

2009-10-29 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Moodle in both Debian and Ubuntu uses postgresql by default. If someone
wants mysql, they will have to do more work. Basically, they will need
to do something like:

sudo aptitude install moodle mysql-server php5-mysql

If they do this, neither postgresql or php5-pgsql will be installed and
moodle will work just fine with mysql. Although php5-mysql is a small
file, I'm not sure that we should install it for everyone. Basically,
moodle works with either postgresql or mysql but if you want mysql you
have to know what you're doing.

Maybe we should add a note that if you want mysql, you'll have to
install php5-mysql.

I believe this bug will also occur if someone already has mysql-server
installed without php5-mysql.

** Changed in: moodle (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => New

** Summary changed:

- moodle package is lacking critical dependancy on php-db

[Bug 353090] Re: (jaunty) Text hidden on "Who are you?" step

This problem showed up in the Kubuntu Karmic Desktop install CD. There
were, in a few places, not enough space for the lines of text the system
tried to display.

[Bug 452208] Re: devkit-disks-daemon crashed with SIGSEGV in dbus_g_method_return_error()

2009-10-29 Thread David Reyna Jr.
I'm installing 32bit 9.10 on a AMD X2 be-2400 with an ASUS board that
has one 500gb SATA drive, sorry I'm not sure which info is relevant... I
got this error during live install and the apt portion took a long time
so I eventually suspected that the crash report might have damaged the
install and started skipping portions that took a long time, I'm going
to reboot and reinstall without going through the live desktop (I only
started there because I needed to move some data around use GParted a
little...)

[Bug 308530] Re: Wait for network before downloading ssh credentials or user-data

2009-10-29 Thread ChipAnderson
We hit this same problem trying to use the "Official" Hardy Server AMI
images that are listed in the Amazon ECS Management Console. The only
AMI we can connect to is the i386 version ("ami-5d59be34") on the
m1.small type of server. Using the AMD version of the AMI ("ami-
2959be40") or using the i386 version on the larger server types results
in not being able to connect to the instance using SSH.

Was a new "Official" Hardy AMI image "spun out" from this fix? I can't
find any "official" AMIs on the Amazon site that were created after this
bug was supposedly fixed.

Hardy is important to us to because of the LTS aspect of Hardy support.

I'm affected too.
This still happens on the final Karmick on 2.6.31-14-generic
I've checked and the snd_hda_intel module is loaded,
but my device is recognized as "Internal Audio" Output.
This used to work on jaunty

[Bug 379052] Re: [regression] Broadcom 4312 Not working in 9.10 (Kernel 2.6.30 restricted modules ?)

2009-10-29 Thread hackel
I just installed 9.10 on my Dell Mini 9 (from the LPIA alternate
installer CD), and sadly the BCM4312 is not being detected, nor is the
option to install the driver available from the Hardware Drivers control
panel (or jockey-text). The "wl.ko" file present in Jaunty is nowhere
to be found, leaving me without networking... This is such a hugely
popular network card, as crappy as it is, that this bug should really
have been fixed before releasing 9.10. Doesn't leave a very good first
impression!

[Bug 464243] [NEW] [karmic] mplayer & enca don't work

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mplayer

Hello!
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 (amd64), and I want to use Mplayer with enca, but it
doesn't work. In Jaunty all was working properly.

I tested mplayer and mplayer-nogui

mplayer-nogui:

I tested with "subcp =enca:ru:cp1251" option(in ~/.mplayer/config)

Subtitles has utf-8 encoding, but I see "?" symbols instead of normal
text. I quoted strings from Mplayer log file:

SUB: Detected subtitle file format: ssa

[Bug 443004] Re: Eclipse GTK is not working correct - especially buttons

2009-10-29 Thread hiunlink
I just upgrade Ubuntu 9.10 yesterday, and It also has the problems like
GUI freeze, no respese. And I download Eclipse IDE for C/C++ Developers
from offical website for testing this problem. When I open the new
eclipseIt had a warning message telled something like eclipse would use
the gcj(GNU Compiler for the Java) for running eclipse. So I thought
those problems maybe be occured by GCJ, and remove it. It surprisely
solved those problems. I do not read comment wrote by your guys detaily,
so this comment just for someone have eclipse problem when upgrading
Ubuntu 9.10.

[Bug 464239] [NEW] install-package displays no details

2009-10-29 Thread Adric Riedel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: install-package

I'm running a fresh-from-CD install (although I kept my local
configuration files from an 9.04->9.10RC install) of Kubuntu 9.10, and
when attempting to use the Firefox installer, or install the recommended
Amarok plugins, I get a Package Install window, with no details of any
kind.

install-package: version 0.4.2

Expected behavior: Clicking 'Details' should display a terminal running
the apt commands to install packages.

Observed behavior: Empty white box.

[Bug 463259] Re: kubuntu install disk setup disk size wrong

2009-10-29 Thread Jochen Skulj
I just installed Kubuntu in a VirtualBox environment, but I can't
reproduce this bug. The display of the partition size of the new Kubuntu
partition seems fine for me (see attachment). Can anyone reproduce this
bug? Unfortunately I don't have vmware installed on my machine.

Besides this, it's difficult for me to see any translation issues in
this bug. Obviously the detection of the partition size doesn't work
correctly and te bug repoort says that this problem also occurs in an
English environment.

[Bug 464237] [NEW] Dual screen layout misplaces splash screens, panel, menu items

2009-10-29 Thread udippel
Public bug reported:

I am running dual monitor, with 1600x1200 on top of 1024x768. In jaunty, all
splash screens (e.g. Open Office) were out of center in the 1600x1200, to the
left top corner (I guess, placed according to the other monitor (laptop
build-in). In karmic, they are centered, I guess, in the middle on the virtual
screen. That is, in the lower part of the 1600x1200.
Alas, karmic is worse than jaunty: The autohide top panel supposed to be at the
top of 1600x1200 is inevitably on the top of 1024x768, and 'autohides' into the
bottom of 1600x1200, where I am running an awn-panel. And from there, all
dependent menu items show dislocated from their parents. And clicking awn items
like 'files and folder' is not possible, because they disappear the moment when
the mouse moves away from the parent.

[Bug 185177] Re: Synaptoc package manager locked by hung install

2009-10-29 Thread trevor foster
I had enormous problems trying to install Adobe flash plugin on Jaunty, and
gave up in the end. Even after learning how to unblock synaptic and try again,
it just wouldn't download even if I used the terminal.
The same thing is happening in 9.10

[Bug 454113] Re: digikam crashes when click on download selected

2009-10-29 Thread Stilor
Could somebody update the digiKam package to 1.0.0beta6? The upstream
bug is marked resolved/fixed, with the submitter claiming that
1.0.0.beta6 worked for him.

With this bug, digiKam is unusable for me in 9.10... :(

[Bug 322210] Re: [needs-packaging] PPD for Dymo LabelWriter 400 not complete

2009-10-29 Thread DanielV
@George: compiling and installing the driver manually does not work for
me. Download URL:
https://global.dymo.com/enUS/RNW/RNW.html?pg=std_adp.php&p_faqid=101

According to the readme what you need to do is:

1) Download the .tar.gz and extract it. Fine.
2) Open a terminal and browse to the extracted directory. There run
./configure. That went fine after I installed a package first, I have to search
on the internet to find the command again.

3) Run make. Errors:
