[Bug 1066410] Re: lightdm doesn't load correctly on Ubuntu 12.10

2013-02-25 Thread Steffen Sindzinski
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 969489 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/969489

I have the same problem but btrfs as filesystem on a normal hard disk.
The btrfs overhead seems to slow down the boot and lightdm is respawning
once then exiting. Switching to btrfs raid 0 seems to fix but I want
raid 1 or no raid at all.

[Bug 1132769] Re: external mic does not work

2013-02-25 Thread David Henningsson
There is some confusion here that needs to be sorted out first.

1) Some machines (only from Asus AFAIK) have a single 3-pin jack, that
can accept either a headphone or a mic, but not a 4-pin headset. When
plugged in, you need to manually select headphone or mic in order to be
able to use it. This is what the codec proc file tells me that this is,
and this also is what the bug Anthony points at concerns. I wouldn't
give my word that it was fixed in quantal, because nobody came back to
me and confirmed that it actually worked in the distro, and also, this
fix has not been completely backported to precise (and I don't want to
SRU that before someone tells me that what I've done in quantal actually
works).

2) Many more machines have a single 4-pin jack where you can plug either
a 3-pin headphone or a 4-pin headset, but not a 3-pin mic. This is what
Jeff says that this machine is.

3) If you go to Asus' specifications of the X401U, (
https://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/X401U/#specifications ), it
says that there is one 3-pin headphone jack, one 3-pin microphone jack
and one line-in jack. Just to add to the confusion.

In order to proceed I need from someone with the hardware to reconfirm
what type of jack this really is.

[Bug 1133162] [NEW] video does not recover after suspend with nouveau driver

2013-02-25 Thread Jeff Lane
Public bug reported:

When running 12.04.2 with the nouveau driver, the system (X) does not
recover after suspend and the system eventually freezes.

The machine starts to recover from suspend, however, the screen remains
black, or in one case, became a weird black and white zig-zag pattern
with a mouse pointer visible. At this point, the machine churns for a
bit then completely freezes, requiring a power-cycle to return to a
working state.

Installing the nVidia proprietary driver resolves this issue:
ii nvidia-common1:0.2.44.2
  Find obsolete NVIDIA drivers
ii nvidia-current-updates 304.64-0ubuntu0.2
NVIDIA binary Xorg driver, kernel module and VDPAU library

Using that as a workaround, I am able to suspend and resume this
machine.

[Bug 1133138] [NEW] Newer version is available (3.0.2)

2013-02-25 Thread Novikov Andrey
Public bug reported:

For now, there is version 3.0.2 of Aegisub is already released and
available on the official site: http://www.aegisub.org/downloads/ and
version 3.1 is "work in progress":
http://devel.aegisub.org/milestone/3.1.0

Is it possible to include it into the upcoming ‘raring’ Ubuntu release
(13.04) while it's not released?

Thanks.

[Bug 1133120] [NEW] gnome-session failing to load dude to timeout error on random boots

2013-02-25 Thread Britt Yazel
Public bug reported:

On seemingly random boots, gnome-session fails to load and simply goes
to a black screen after first showing the "gnome stiped blue background"
for around two seconds. the greeter log in var/log/gdm (see attached)
reports this error

"gnome-session[2272]: WARNING: Session 'gdm-shell' runnable check
failed: Timed out" only on the sessions where gnome-session fails to
load, on all of the sessions where the computer boots fine this error is
not present. The error seems to happen multiple times in succession, but
then on a 3rd or 4th attempt booting will rectify itself and will load
fine.

I am running Ubuntu raring x64, using the Ubuntu-Gnome-Remix base. I
also have the gnome-staging ppa installed.

** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

The issue has existed with 12.10 as well... and as per the report
itself, this is a daily-build Live CD (obviously not an upgrade) that
this bug was reported on.

[Bug 1133077] Re: Don't terminate download the Oneric installationth

2013-02-25 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I noticed that you are installing an older version of
Ubuntu, unless you have some specific requirements to run an older
release I recommend trying to install the latest LTS version of Ubuntu.
We released version 12.04, in April of 2012, and it is a Long Term
Support release. You can find different ways to obtain it at
http://download.ubuntu.com. In the event that you really want to run
the older version of Ubuntu please set this bug's status back to New.
Thanks!

I can confirm that installing wine with aptitude on Ubuntu 12.10 does
not work right out (asks me to make decisions about packages (gettext)

But using just plain apt works fine.

[Bug 1133107] Re: Hidden MicroSHAFT ULA when installing Ubuntu Restricted Extras

2013-02-25 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1133107/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

2013-02-25 Thread Michael McCool

Windows. Now it works. Rebooted into Ubuntu, touch works. Rebooted
into Windows, touch works. Shutdown, waited, rebooted into Ubuntu,
touch works. Shutdown, waited, rebooted into Windows, touch works.

Huh.

Well, I wasn't hallicinating, but the problem seems to have gone away.

It turns out that this is because the gcc-linaro.diff patch is not
applied for ubuntu builds, only Debian-arm64. So there is no aarch64
support to build.

Fixing this by re-enabling the gcc-linaro patch for arm64 allows builds
to proceed (although it does not complete)

  ifneq (,$(findstring $(DEB_TARGET_ARCH),arm64))
with_linaro_branch = yes
  endif

The changelog talks of reverting to using upstream, which is probably
fine for other arches, but there is no aarch64 support in upstream 4.7.
