[Bug 1185592] Re: pam_systemd not enabled in saucy upgrade
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1176910 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176910 I got bit by this bug. I had Fedora 20 Beta installed on my system. Formatted that partition and installed Kubuntu 13.10. On first boot and on the LiveCD, everything worked fine. Then did a "sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade", rebooted and the following things in KDE did not work: - Wifi network - Sound - Shutdown/restart The comments here helped and the problem indeed is systemd missing in pam. However, none of the suggestions worked. Then added the following line in /etc/pam.d/common-session and everything works: session optionalpam_systemd.so My /etc/pam.d has a lot of *.pam-old files. [Bug 1172852] Re: USB keyboard and mouse don't work
Dee Bee, can you try the following ? : 1. Suspend the PC or laptop 2. Start the PC or laptop 3. Try if you can key in anything I have a HP Pavilion g4 laptop that I bought last year. I've been installing few Linux distributions and had the same issue. In the beginning I was using Ubuntu 12.04 and had no problem. After I upgraded it to Ubuntu 13.04, I had the same issue as reported in this thread. After googling a little, and tried some solutions provided in other threads, nothing worked. So I decided to suspend the PC and wake the PC up again, and I found out that I was able to use my keyboard. I am not sure if it will work on your case, but please give it a try. [Bug 1020210] Re: Race condition using ATOMIC_FASTBINS in _int_free causes crash or heap corruption
Sorry for the previous comment. After testing with jemalloc and valgrind, I found the problem was caused by a double free within a class destructor, that was being used within an std::unordered_set, so the copy constructor was causing deletions and accesses to the deleted memory. It helped to have the debug compilation of jemalloc, so it would have been helpful to have the equivalent debug compilation of the glibc malloc available, but it may not have enough assert statements to catch this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1020210 Title: Race condition using ATOMIC_FASTBINS in _int_free causes crash or heap corruption To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/eglibc/+bug/1020210/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1256590] Re: J. Random User Showing In Unity Power Menu Indicator
I have no idea which package caused it. That's for you (the developers) to figure out. In my posting, I let you know already that the only 'first time' usage of an app which may be related to this is "Remmina Remote Desktop Client". you can also use turn on traepoints to check whether you receive multiple unsol events is realted to trigger sense or not Tracepoints ~~~ The hd-audio driver gives a few basic tracepoints. `hda:hda_send_cmd` traces each CORB write while `hda:hda_get_response` traces the response from RIRB (only when read from the codec driver). `hda:hda_bus_reset` traces the bus-reset due to fatal error, etc, `hda:hda_unsol_event` traces the unsolicited events, and `hda:hda_power_down` and `hda:hda_power_up` trace the power down/up via power-saving behavior. [Bug 1256591] Re: The system is unable to read from a PTP camera.
It apparently is known that one may access photos from Shotwell despite this bug, but one should not have to install Shotwell when running Kubuntu. This is only a workaround. It does not allow one to open the camera in a file viewer. Apparently, this is a problem in Nautilus and Nemo as well. For me, it also does not work in Konqueror either. I cannot even get it to work using sudo dolphin or even logging in as root. The problem with Shotwell is that once you have downloaded a photo from the camera and answered no to delete the photo, you can't go back and delete it again. This can lead to many cameras becoming too full to take any more pictures or videos. We just had Thanksgiving here in the USA, Hanukkah has started, and Christmas is coming. What a time to find out one's camera is full and one cannot delete saved photos. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1256591 Title: The system is unable to read from a PTP camera. [Bug 1218547] Re: Clevo W350ST brightness keys don't work on Kubuntu
Surak, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please just make a comment to this. Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc1 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. [Bug 1256590] [NEW] J. Random User Showing In Unity Power Menu Indicator
Public bug reported: Yesterday I encountered an issue that was very concerning, at least until I investigated a bit more, and found that it may only be due to debug/test code that's still be present in released software. The search I made brought me here. Please redirect me if I'm in the wrong place. "J. Random User" appeared in the Ubuntu 13.10 (x86_64) Unity Power indicator list, below 'Lock' and above '{my user name}'. This was only noticed as I was about to lock the screen, which I do a number of times per day, however, this time "J. Random User" was visible. There was no User Account for that entry in System Settings > User Accounts. There was no one else logged onto the machine except my own username (checked by '$ w'). There seemed to be no rogue processes running (checked in log and current processes). >From a security point of view, it was very concerning. But after my searches on the matter, I belive the machine not to be compromised, but tickled by 'developer test code'. Restarting the computer removed the issue. It could be coincidence, but the only bit of new software I tried (for the first time ever) was the "Remmina Remote Desktop Client" to see if was interested to remotely connect to another computer on the home network. After restarting my computer and running that software again, it did not cause a "J. Random User" to appear in the indicator, so it could be a red-herring. It could also be related to this? : https://code.launchpad.net/~larsu/ido/custom-menu-items/+merge/165498 Hope you know something about it, or can redirect this bug report elsewhere. Public bug reported: I attempted to install from the 20131130 PPC LiveCD via usb flash drive. I used the erase entire drive option. The installation window proceeds until where the slide show would begin. At that point, there is a blank area where the first slide would normally be. The progress text reads copying files. After about 30 seconds, the entire installation window vanishes, and all that is left is the spinning gear. After 90 minutes, the installation never finished. I ran ubuntu-bug ubiquity from a terminal, and then I did a forced shutdown from the power button on the computer. I could not get to a console. Examining the hard drive, the installer looks to have partitioned the drive, but only installed three folders: /etc., /lost+found, and /media. [Bug 1255700] Re: [Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8740w] suspend/resume failure
Hi Christopher, Did some testing as you requested via live usb. In 12.04 and 12.04.3 the issue is the same. Also saw that mainline kernel v3.13-rc2 was available, so tested with that also. No difference, and like v3.13-rc1 shutdown doesn't work. Changed the tag from kernel-bug-exists-upstream-v3.13-rc1 to kernel-bug- exists-upstream-v3.13-rc2, if thats ok. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1255700 Title: [Hewlett-Packard HP EliteBook 8740w] suspend/resume failure To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1255700/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
