(In reply to :Gavin Sharp (email ga...@gavinsharp.com) from comment #54) > You can type "Admin", and then click elsewhere to dismiss the autocomplete > popup before submitting the form, right? > No, Gavin. As soon as the password field is clicked, the username reverts to the saved case. Entering the password first, and then the "correct" username reverts to the saved username upon hitting the submit/login button. It's very frustrating. The only real workaround is as previously described: delete the existing saved password entry - or edit it. But Firefox of course still remembers the > old "admin" username, and force-downcases it when I attempt to log in as > "Admin". There seems to be no gesture I can make at the form field that > will cause it to simply leave alone the text I typed. You can type "Admin", and then click elsewhere to dismiss the autocomplete popup before submitting the form, right? I just want to make sure I understand the scope of the issue completely. [Bug 1261049] Re: Synaptic appears twice when adding things to application launch bar
Hi, The reason why Synaptic appears twice is that the Synaptic package comes with two desktop files ("one to bother the other"). Under /usr/share/applications there are synaptic.desktop, and synaptic- kde.desktop. The last one contains this line: OnlyShowIn=KDE; which doesn't seem to make much effect, because it is most often showing twice when it should not. Maybe would it be possible to try a "NotShowIn=LXDE; GNOME; Openbox;" or such instead of a "OnlyShowIn=KDE;"? At least you can check what I am saying by simply moving the file out of the way ( cd to /usr/share/applications then "sudo mv synaptic- kde.desktop synaptic-kde.desktop-SAVE"). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1261049 Title: Synaptic appears twice when adding things to application launch bar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxpanel/+bug/1261049/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1229195] Re: Openconnect will not connect under Saucy -- openssl problem?
Cory: "By looking at the code in auth.c, it appears that the user supplied authgroup is now validated against the list returned from the server as part of the xmlpost code. Adding --no-xmlpost corrects the problem because there's no list to validate against." The current --authgroup implementation can only select options that appear in the list. [Bug 1259999] Re: new windows don't get focus in Ubuntu 13.10
** Description changed: This bug seems to be somewhat related to this bugs: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1234470 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1231588 but for me it affects all windows no matter if firefox was started or not. Reproduce: 1. I start up Ubuntu 13.10 2. I open a window, let's say the settings window 3. I try to move the window, but the window border gets no focus, within the window I can click everything correctly 4. I open a new window - this sometimes works, sometimes not 5. Focus for mouse and keyboard stays in settings window 6. Focus for keyboard I can switch with ALT-TAB, but mouse focus stays in settings window + Workaround to fix the problem: + + What seems to fix the problem in every case: + + - CTRL-ALT-F1 + - type something in console + - CTRL-ALT-F7 + - Not the focus problems are gone + What I tried: - uninstall unclutter, but it was not installed - uninstall firefox and chrome -> no change - using Gnome instead of Unity -> no change At all i realized this behaviour even on installation process. I had no chance to do things where more than one window openes -> for example the partition tool. So I think this has nothing to do with type of desktop environment. [Bug 1246929] Re: no audio in KVM virtual machines : cannot select alsa or pa
Hi Brian, so the first steps in fixing this are as follows: 1. in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf add the lines vnc_allow_host_audio = 1 user=bmullan group=bmullan 2. in /etc/init/libvirt-bin.conf, add the line export QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=pa right before the final exec, so 'script' block at the bottom of the file becomes: script [ -r /etc/default/libvirt-bin ] && . /etc/default/libvirt-bin export QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=pa exec /usr/sbin/libvirtd $libvirtd_opts end script 3. Add the following lines to /etc/apparmor.d/abstractions/libvirt-qemu : @{HOME}/.config/pulse/cookie rwk, @{HOME}/.config/pulse/** rwkl, @{HOME}/.config/ r, @{HOME}/.config/pulse/ rw, owner /run/shm/pulse-* rw, /usr/bin/pulseaudio PUx, /etc/pulse/daemon.conf r, /tmp/pulse*/*.lock rwk, /proc/* r, /proc/*/fd/ r, With all this, though I still do *not* have working sound. There may be a pulseaudio server setting I haven't found, or there may be a silent apparmor denial. If we get this working then we can put most of the apparmor lines in the policy, and to put hints in the config files for the rest. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246929 Title: no audio in KVM virtual machines : cannot select alsa or pa To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1246929/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Several latest releases i got random errors (at least they look random to me) after sleep, reboot and hibernate so I should just turn off apport to get rid of them. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/744088 Title: WARNING: at /build/buildd/linux-2.6.38/kernel/power/suspend_test.c:53 suspend_test_finish+0x86/0x90() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/744088/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1261096] [NEW] whoopsie-prefernces respawns whoopsie in an infinite loop
Public bug reported: 1. Go to system settings -> security and privacy -> diagnostics 2. wait about 1 minute 3. whoopsie-preferences starts respawning whoopsie in an infinite loop (If nothing happens after about a minute, try changes some preferences and waiting again) init (PID 1), dbus, polkitd and whoopsie-prefences then peg a cpu at 100%. [Bug 1249819] Re: couldn't install '' grub-efi-amd64"
I hit this as well, while upgrading from kubuntu 13.04 to 13.10. Here's as much debugging as I'm knowledgable to do, captured before I cross my fingers and reboot anyway... from term.log: ... I did a apt-get remove grub-efi-amd64, dpkg --purge grub-efi-amd64, apt-get install grub-efi to try and clear things; failure stayed the same, though there's no longer a previous version. export DEBCONF_DEBUG=developer /var/lib/dpkg/info/grub-efi-amd64.postinst configure || echo fail debconf (developer): frontend started debconf (developer): frontend running, package name is grub-efi-amd64 debconf (developer): starting /var/lib/dpkg/info/grub-efi-amd64.config configure debconf (developer): <-- SET grub2/linux_cmdline debconf (developer): --> 0 value set debconf (developer): <-- SET grub2/linux_cmdline_default quiet splash debconf (developer): --> 0 value set debconf (developer): <-- INPUT medium grub2/linux_cmdline debconf (developer): --> 30 question skipped debconf (developer): <-- INPUT medium grub2/linux_cmdline_default debconf (developer): --> 30 question skipped debconf (developer): <-- GO debconf (developer): --> 0 ok debconf (developer): starting /var/lib/dpkg/info/grub-efi-amd64.postinst configure debconf (developer): <-- GET grub2/linux_cmdline debconf (developer): --> 0 debconf (developer): <-- GET grub2/linux_cmdline_default debconf (developer): --> 0 quiet splash debconf (developer): <-- X_LOADTEMPLATEFILE /var/lib/dpkg/info/ucf.templates ucf debconf (developer): --> 0 fail So that seems to be a dead-end. Some tracing with echo statements added to the script narrowed it down to line 689 (the call to grub-install). grub-install --debug prints lots of stuff, but points the failure at the command: efibootmgr -q -c -d /dev/sdb -p 1 -w -L kubuntu -l \EFI\ubuntu\grubx64.efi All of those arguments look right - my EFI boot partition is indeed on sdb (an mSATA SSD, sda is the traditional hard drive), this is mounted at /boot/efi, so that path is right and the file exists. dmesg shows: efivars: set_variable() failed: status=8009 So I think I'm now as deep as I can get; it's a kernel/BIOS issue of some kind. [Bug 1261091] [NEW] [Ubuntu Touch] rc.local should be in /etc/writable

Here is the output of ls -l /etc/rc.local on Ubuntu Touch 13.10. -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 306 Oct 18 11:45 /etc/rc.local Instead, rc.local needs to be a symbolic link into /etc/writable . Here is an example of a file in /etc that has been made writable. lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 17 Nov 14 17:45 /etc/timezone -> writable/timezone One consequence of this (not the only one, just an example) is that a startup command cannot be added to turn off Bluetooth permanently. Joseph Eckstrom, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p linux Also, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available (not the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested. For example: kernel-fixed-upstream-v3.13-rc3 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER As well, please remove the tag: needs-upstream-testing Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed.
