[Bug 1301720] Re: [Text Entry] Missing English input in Simplified and Traditional Chinese default enviroment
hello @xnox Those random characters was generated by ibus-bopomofo, and that float- panel does provide you a way to switch in between traditional chinese and english alphabets, but not all the chinese input methods provides similar way to switch input characters. As following your steps with trusty beta 2 image, the default input source in traditional chinese should be ibus-chewing, which does not have float-panel, user still have to add english input source. Although in simplified chinese, provides ibus-pinyin which uses english alphabet to generate simplified chinese characters, a stand-alone english input source still missing compare to japanese and korean( see comment #9 ) to @gunnarhj it should be just one input source here, I've double checked with beta 2 image, please check my attachment. ** Attachment added: "Default input source in Traditional Chinese at Trusty Tahr eta 2" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1301720/+attachment/4083140/+files/default%20input%20source%20in%20zh_TW%20-%202014-04-14%2014_27_12%20___.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1301720 Title: [Text Entry] Missing English input in Simplified and Traditional Chinese default enviroment To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/1301720/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1307233] Re: Acer Aspire 3003WLMi does not power off or reboot
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected trusty ** Description changed: I just Installed Ubuntu 14.04 RC on an old Acer Aspire 3003WLMi, after a very successful install on a Dell Inspiron 6000. Both machines seems to have the same capabilities. BUT : 1- NO wifi detected on the ACER. (OK on the Dell) My first installation hang on kernel configuration for the wifi driver. I found on a blog that un-checking the "use proprietary modules" solved the problem and allowed the installation 2- Machine completely unresponsive with Unity (3D accelerator seems absent) but completely functional with Xubuntu desktop) (Surprisingly smooth on the Dell) 3- NEVER power off when "shutdown" or "reboot" is requested. Every thing seems stopped. but the machine remains powered and the "shutdown screens" continue to run with its animation - I think that this is caused by missing specific/proprietary drivers, BUT - when I check for "proprietary drivers" none are proposed + I think that this is caused by missing specific/proprietary drivers, BUT when I check for "proprietary drivers" none are proposed + --- + ApportVersion: 2.14.1-0ubuntu2 + Architecture: i386 + AudioDevicesInUse: Error: command ['fuser', '-v', '/dev/snd/seq', '/dev/snd/timer'] failed with exit code 1: + CurrentDesktop: XFCE + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=2da3c1b7-27be-485a-af85-6bc2c870368d + InstallationDate: Installed on 2014-04-10 (3 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS "Trusty Tahr" - Daily i386 (20140409) + IwConfig: + lono wireless extensions. + + eth0 no wireless extensions. + Lsusb: + Bus 001 Device 002: ID 13fd:1840 Initio Corporation INIC-1608 SATA bridge + Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub + Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub + MachineType: Acer, inc. [Bug 994921] Re: 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/app.crash' (and even more so, 'apport-cli -c /var/crash/app.crash') should still allow manual bug filing in stable releases
I'm closing this as wontfix. We really want crashes to go to http://errors.ubuntu.com only for stable releases. Launchpad isn't suitable for these, both for privacy problems (stable users are much less prone to be able to decide whether a report might contain sensitive data), as well as scalability (Launchpad doesn't deal well with hundreds of duplicates, and a bug tracker isn't meant to). As you found out, there is still a way to do this manually upon request of a developer, but we don't want to make this any easier. > 1) 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/application.crash'; This works for (non-crash) bug reports and is integrated with the MIME system, i. e. you can file those by merely clicking on .crash files. IMHO this would make it too easy to send crashes to LP. So from what I've heard from Evan and Matthew we eventually want to move to errors.u.c even for the development release, and create bug reports off errors.u.c. when necessary. ** Changed in: apport (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix ** Changed in: apport (Ubuntu Precise) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/994921 Title: 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/app.crash' (and even more so, 'apport-cli -c /var/crash/app.crash') should still allow manual bug filing in stable releases To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/994921/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1205643] Re: VIA P4M800 graphics broken in Lubuntu/Xubuntu Saucy & 12.04.4 candidate

The patches have received testing in Saucy/Debian/Trusty and upstream, so presumably should be fairly safe. The number of people using openchrome is relatively small compared to the main X drivers, so the scope of risk is rather small here. + - check that xorg sessions work as they should. The patches have received testing in Debian/Trusty/Saucy and upstream, so presumably should be fairly safe. The number of people using openchrome is relatively small compared to the main X drivers, so the scope of risk is rather small here. -- Saucy Hardware Enablement Stack: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack --- Please bear with me and read all of this. Since I can't get a working display in Saucy with that graphics chip I need to use this method to file the initial bug report, but I can provide info using a chroot or replacing the "quiet splash" boot parameter with "text" which takes me to a tty interface. I hope using the tty interface provided by using the "text" boot parameter I can use "apport-collect" to collect the info needed from an installed Lubuntu 13.10 but I won't do so until asked by a dev in case some "switch" needs to be set to collect the appropriate info. I also want to say that I'm fully aware that graphics chip is not supported by Ubuntu/compiz itself, or even GNOME's mutter window manager, but I think it should still work with the openbox, metacity, and Xfwm window managers .. at least I hope so :^) So onto what actually happens. When I try to boot either Lubuntu or Xubuntu Saucy Alpha 2, either the live image or an installed version, I just get a frozen progress bar. So it's just 5 frozen dots on the screen. If I try booting through the recovery mode or otherwise trying to "startx" or "'sudo service lightdm start' I just get a blank screen. I can see the backlight is working but that's all. This is the specific hardware: VIA C7 CPU @ 1500MHz VIA CN700/P4M800 Pro/P4M800 CE/VN800 Graphics [S3 UniChrome Pro] (rev 01) VIA VT8233/A/8235/8237 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 60) Ethernet controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. [Bug 1307274] [NEW] gedit crashes and locks up the system when dragging tab bar
Public bug reported: I originally reported this bug upstream, and now it appears to be fixed upstream. I will repost here the parts I believe are most relevant. https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=679355 It is my hunch that the bug is actually in a gtk library. I'm using Gedit_3.4.1 on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit. I'm reporting a bug that is also experienced by someone using Gedit 3.3.0 on Fedora 16. Because of this, I hope it's safe to presume this is an upstream bug. fedora bug link https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=808789 Description of problem: Gedit crashes and freezes system when dragging a file from one Gedit window to another. Reproducible: 100% Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open Gedit from the menu, and open a file in that Gedit. 2. Use nautilus (or any file manager) to open another file with Gedit. (It will open in a new Gedit window) 3. Try to combine the files onto a single Gedit window by dragging the files tab. Results/symptoms: -XWindows gets locked up with a dragging mouse cursor. -System must be hard rebooted, or Gedit killed from TTY1 for the system to continue. -The mouse pointer turns into a clenched (dragging) icon. -The mouse can still be moved around the screen, but has no more capability to function. -Pressing Alt+F2 still brings up the Run dialog. -In the Run dialog, I can still type in keys on the keyboard, but Space and Enter (and perhaps all whitespace?) are not being received. [Bug 1304035] Re: [ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. T300LA] suspend/resume failure
Håkon Emil Olsen, as per http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/ASUS_Transformer_Book_T300LA/HelpDesk_Download/ an update to your BIOS is available (207). If you update to this following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BiosUpdate does it change anything? If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. [Bug 1307251] Re: xfdesktop doesn't save the arrangement of desktop icons after a resolution change
Launchpad has imported 1 comments from the remote bug at https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10813. If you reply to an imported comment from within Launchpad, your comment will be sent to the remote bug automatically. Read more about Launchpad's inter-bugtracker facilities at https://help.launchpad.net/InterBugTracking. On 2014-04-14T00:14:18+00:00 amigamagic wrote: - PACKAGE: xfdesktop VERSION: 4.11.6-1ubuntu1 - Given that the process "xfdesktop" creates a file in ~/.config/xfce4/desktop whenever the user moves or creates an icon on the desktop, I found the following anomalies: 1) I noticed that if I change the position of an icon, it will not be saved immediately in the appropriate file in ~/.config/xfce4/desktop, but only after about 8 seconds. This delay determines that if I move an icon, and right after that I log out (before 8 seconds have elapsed), after the log in I will find that icon in the position it was before the last placement. 2) Suppose you have a particular personal arrangement of icons. Now, if you set a screen resolution never used so far, bigger than the previous one, the icons will be correctly arranged as they were before the resolution change. However, now if you don't touch the desktop anymore (I mean you don't have to move/edit/create icons) and you log out, at the following log in you will find that the icons have been rearranged on the left side of the screen and reordered alphabetically. It's happened because after the resolution change, xfdesktop did not create the appropriate file in "~/.config/xfce4/desktop". This file was created only after the next login (when it was too late for xfdesktop to know the previous icons placement), so at this point xfdesktop makes an automatic standard arrangement of the icons on the left side of the screen (losing your previous arrangement). This would not have happened if xfdesktop had created the new .rc file immediately after the resolution change. 3) The files that are created in ~/.config/xfce4/desktop should include the resolution values in their names. But actually they do not correspond to the actual res values. For example, if I use a resolution of 1024x768, the file created will be called "icons.screen0-1008x720.rc", instead of "icons.screen0-1024x768.rc". [Bug 1256349] Re: anthy icon does not differentiate between romaji input or hiragana/katakana
Ah, yes, that works for me too. What doesn't work though is the icon changing when I switch between hiragana/katakana. In KDE, GNOME, and earlier versions of Ubuntu (I want to say this worked in 12.04, but I'm not 100% sure on that), the icon will change from あ to ア or A (and half- width equivalents) depending on the current mode. I've tried with both Anthy and Mozc and neither update their icon as expected. It seems as though newer versions of Unity, or whatever handles the display of the indicator icon, only updates the input method icon when the actual input method changes and doesn't pick up when the current input method changes it's typing mode. It seems like something simple to fix, but unfortunately I just don't have time to dig in to the code. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1256349 Title: anthy icon does not differentiate between romaji input or hiragana/katakana To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/anthy/+bug/1256349/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
