Read more about Launchpad's inter-bugtracker facilities at https://help.launchpad.net/InterBugTracking. On 2010-03-20T15:45:29+00:00 Charlie Kravetz wrote: This bug was reported on Ubuntu Launchpad as: https://launchpad.net/bugs/490410 When resizing the main application window, it does not resize correctly. In particular, when the top or left boundaries of the window are used to perform the resizing, the application's title-bar, main menu and icons are not redrawn correctly and become inaccessible. Steps to reproduce: 1) From the Applications menu, start one of the OpenOffice applications (Word Processor, Spreadsheet or Presentation). 2) Attempt to resize the window by dragging the top or left edge of the application window (you may need to click the application window's "(un)maximise" button (top right, next to the "X" for closing the window) to allow resizing). What I expect to happen: The application's layout (including the title-bar, main menu and icons) should be adjusted and re-drawn dynamically as the application is resized, and then finally when the resize operation is complete. What happens instead: The application's layout is not adjusted, and the title-bar, main menu and/or icons become inaccessible. WORKAROUND: Right-click on the application in the panel at the bottom of the screen, and choose "Maximise" from the pop-up menu... then repeat and choose "unmaximise". The application is redrawn correctly in it's new size. (This does not work with "Minimise - Unminimise"). Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 Package: openoffice.org-core 1:3.1.1-5ubuntu1 [modified: var/lib/openoffice/basis3.1/program/services.rdb] I only get the redraw problem when I specifically resize the application from the top/left edges. I've not been able to reproduce the problem in any other applications besides OpenOffice (including Firefox, GIMP, Inkscape, Rosegarden, Audacity, Ardour, NetBeans, Synaptic Package Manager). I just discovered that installing the "openoffice.org-gtk" package in Xubuntu somewhat resolves the problem, but it gives the whole spreadsheet contents a faded appearance (black text appears grey) which is not good. [Bug 1519207] [NEW] crc32 polynomial documentation
Public bug reported: The crc32 polynomial needs to be documented in the man page. There are multiple CRC polynomials that are defined in the community for 32-bit calculations. It is my understanding that the polynomial is the ANSI X3.66 CRC-32 or 0x104C11DB7. Another deficiency in the documentation is the initial value of the CRC and the Endean-ness of the binary data. Changing this library function will be next to impossible; however, documentation of these items will enable us to correlate results on other platforms. Other unexplainable results: 1) Providing a 4 byte binary file with all zeros reports a value of "2144df1c". This implies an initial value of 0x2144df1c. 2) Providing a 4 byte binary file with the value of 0x1c, 0xdf, 0x44, 0x21 reports a value of "6522df69". 3) Providing a 4 byte binary file with the value of 0x21, 0x44, 0xdf, 0x1c reports a value of "5cf8b7c4". Since neither #2 or #3 cause crc32 to report a value of "", the CRC calculator inside this utility is inconsistent with all of the CRC algorithms I know of. [Bug 1486841] Re: from click import commands: ImportError: cannot import name 'commands'
Colin, Thank you for the suggestion! I generated the strace output as you suggested [see attached file] and looked through it before attaching it. I realized it was looking in my ~/.local/ directory. So, I guessed [I only know some Python...not too knowledgeable about it] renaming ~/.local/lib/python3.4/ might help and indeed it worked and click installed successfully. Of course, I don't know if it will solve other people's problems, but it solved mine. Hopefully the attached strace output can help you come up with a better solution for others? I'm not too sure what I've broken by renaming that directory...I guess as it's local to my home directory, it should be fine. Thank you! ** Attachment added: "strace output for running click" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/click/+bug/1486841/+attachment/4524449/+files/click.trace -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1486841 Title: from click import commands: ImportError: cannot import name 'commands' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/click/+bug/1486841/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1516531] Re: Fullscreen Freeze.
Alright, so it happened again. I'm sure it would have happened sooner, but I stopped myself from putting Kodi into full screen because I was scanning a drive, I pulled from another computer, for badblocks, and it happened while in the 1st stage of the 74 hour scan and I had to start over. This time, xorg DID boot me out into a non-interactive console view. I switched over to tty1 to try the apport, but apport-collect needs a gui. The thing is, while in tty1, before I logged in, it switched me back to the gui login (tty7?). I DID see a kodi entry along with xorg at the time of the crash in the journal. For the times/cases when xorg only freezes in fullscreen (though mouse still moves), what parameters should I use for apport-cli, for when I switch to tty1? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1516531 Title: Fullscreen Freeze. [Bug 1511301] Re: Failed to upgrade fglrx from 14.502 to 15.200 on Trusty.
Hi Serenity, First, be sure the APT is updated: $ sudo apt-get update Then you can remove old fglrx by `apt-get purge`: $ sudo apt-get purge fglrx fglrx-core fglrx-amdcccle Finally, reinstall them: $ sudo apt-get install fglrx fglrx-core fglrx-amdcccle And supposedly, this should fix your upgrading problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1511301 Title: Failed to upgrade fglrx from 14.502 to 15.200 on Trusty. [Bug 1516531] Re: Fullscreen Freeze.
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 ubuntu wily ** Description changed: Related?: http://askubuntu.com/questions/692405/ubuntu-15-10-unity-freezes-after-escaping-full-screen-video https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1509622 I've been having cases of unusual screen behavior, particularly when Kodi 16 is being used (maybe it's just a Kodi thing). There have been times before when coming out of fullscreen video using either Chrome or Kodi would drop me to a console screen with no input. I think I would be able to kill the gnome session in tty1. Now, after a bios upgrade as well as the latest display manager and kernel update, Kodi has frozen in fullscreen a couple of times and yet audio will still play from Kodi. I created the bug report in tty1. I've also been noticing that if I pause a Kodi video, other non-Kodi applications may not update their window content. For example, I may be in a webpage in Chrome and I try to mousewheel scroll, yet not see the scrolling effect. Or I will click on a different tab and the window doesn't show the switch. BUT, if I continue playing the Kodi video, Chrome will update it's screen, and if I switch back to the tab I scrolled, the scroll will have already occurred. I will say that I have at least not had a fullscreen GUI crash me out to console. Another peculiarity is when booting Ubuntu, I used to be able to press ESC to view the kernel/system booting output, but now it just shows a black screen with a cursor. The downside to that in 15.04 was I'd lose my mouse cursor when the GUI login screen came up. - Let me know what other output you'd like (or whatever test you'd like me - to try) "when" it happens again. + Let me know what other output you'd like (or whatever test you'd like me to try) "when" it happens again. + --- + .tmp.unity.support.test.0: + + ApportVersion: 2.19.1-0ubuntu5 + Architecture: amd64 + CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' + CompositorRunning: compiz + CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' + CompositorUnredirectFSW: true + DistUpgraded: Fresh install + DistroCodename: wily + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 15.10 + DistroVariant: ubuntu + EcryptfsInUse: Yes + ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes + GraphicsCard: + Intel Corporation 4th Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:041e] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) +Subsystem: ASRock Incorporation Device [1849:041e] + InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-10-28 (26 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.10 "Wily Werewolf" - Release amd64 (20151021) + MachineType: To Be Filled By O.E.M. [Bug 1511301] Re: Failed to upgrade fglrx from 14.502 to 15.200 on Trusty.
hi kai and alberto, alberto, am i right in thinking it sounds like there is a new fix and i should try and the software updater method matthew described to see if it will sort itself. when i tried it last it just crashed. kai, and if that doesn't work then you're saying that it's safe to just purge the fglrx. that won't break it worse? (can it get worse lol) is it sudo apt-get purge fglrx? then sudo apt-get fglrx installer? is there a dash between fglrx-installer? i know such things can be important. thanks guys. indeed i do think my issue is a bit different from what little my geekling understanding allows me, but also looks like some of the ways of fixing it might be similar. i did post a separate bug when i realized that in case that allowed the unbuntu gods to help sort it. haven't been back in ubuntu in a few days. been updating/upgrading my windows partition so i have a functional operating system, even if it's not my beloved ubuntu. will wait to try out the fix till later. am geekling tech brained out right now after windows 10 upgrade. i think it might have eaten a teenie tiny bit of my soul =P -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1511301 Title: Failed to upgrade fglrx from 14.502 to 15.200 on Trusty. [Bug 1519172] [NEW] Latest Wily install fails when installing Grub 3x in a row. Checked md5, all fine
Public bug reported: Three attempts at installing Wily alongside Trusty 14.04.1. Steps: dd /dev/zero bs=16M count=128 to ensure all previous partitions and data are gone. Boot from Trusty 14.04.1 USB drive, select erase and install. Install without errors (none I'm alerted to or aware of, anyway) Shut down - not that no updates or upgrades were performed... Reboot from latest Wily 15.10 USB. Select "install alongside 14.04.1" Installer fails when grub installer is running for the 2nd time (?). I watched it run and create the 4.2 linux kernels and initrds. Upon inspection, they appear properly installed in /boot. jpeg, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 3.13 to 3.19 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ? [Bug 1506995] Re: Ubiquity facilitate attack on crypto LUKS
LUKS keys are not randomly generated during boot; they are fixed at LUKS creation time. As time passes, more and more of the swap space will be filled with randomish data, reducing the surface area of this attack, but at least after a fresh install, if you can assume that all or most of swap is filled with zeros in the plain text, then it makes crptanalysis of the cihphertext to obtain the key easier. It still isn't easy, but it is at least easier than it would be if we did *not* zero the swap device. Since it makes crtyptanalysis easier, and also is a waste of time, we should at least simply not zero the swap device and leave its contents as is. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1506995 Title: Ubiquity facilitate attack on crypto LUKS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1506995/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
