[Bug 902548] Re: apt: add option to compress files in /var/lib/apt/lists
Though this is not a bug,i like this idea as it could save some diskspace. I once had 700 mb of database cache as I never knew that with every update i.e "sudo apt update",the database would get updated and sync and just dump the new one.Never ever the old and not needed would still exist as memory hog. Though now days I clean the cache aka "sudo apt clean" every week. The process could be like apt first gets the new update, then as soon as it reaches 99% it compress the copy in a file named apt_[date:time].zip. Then it would perform any additional task if required. When every thing is over it would remove the uncompressed files(flat file). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/902548 Title: apt: add option to compress files in /var/lib/apt/lists To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apt/+bug/902548/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1562333] Re: iptstate assert failure: *** Error in `iptstate': munmap_chunk(): invalid pointer: 0x000000000193c990 ***
The issue you are facing is [1]. It is easy enough of a backport to try to help you quickly by preparing a debdiff (and more) rather fast. In 2.2.6 there were a few more minor changes and reworks on the doc and on a variable naming. But still for the SRU process we should only backport what is needed. There are two fixes directly for this issue. Further fixes are not stricly needed for the SRU as e.g. [2] can be achieved by just adding -L on your own. Likewise for [3] that can be avoided by enabling counters via -C. That said there is clearly no workaround for [1] so the backport should include [4]+[5]. Since zesty is already on 2.2.6 and Trusty working due to the older compiler only Xenial is needed. I have a test build in [6], please try that - if you can confirm it works we can push forward to add an SRU Template to the bug and get review of the change by the SRU Team [7]. [Bug 1667113] Re: System users appears in Ligthdm and user switcher (Accountsservice has no filter for shell types)
KDE and Gnome seem to not have the issue in general (To admit - I didn't try myself the Gnome case yet), so in Artful it might be resolved by the switch to Gnome. I didn't hear from the Desktop Team yet about accountsservice getting a fix. Also for now there is a workaround in [1] If this gets no attention for a (more correct and preferred general solution by the desktop Team) we might add that in a libvirt update, but as it is a symptomatic fix only I'd prefer the other solution. And in turn all the affected packages would have to get such a fix (probably even more and in general as users could add "hidden-shell" type users on their own - and those shouldn't be displayed as well. I thought the GeForce GTX 1060 didn't support VDPAU at all. Anyway, as discussed at the links in comment #4, VDPAU doesn't support 10bit HEVC. I recommend that you use NVDEC (either by passing the NVDEC flag or the CUDA flag to mpv or ffmpeg). [Bug 1673548] Re: evolution-ews changes the from field to invalid@invalid
Ubuntu 16.04.3 here. I can confirm this issue with Amazon WorkMail. I ran Evolution with EWS_DEBUG=2 and dumped out the transaction between the client and AWS. The transaction itself is successful. However, if you un-MIME the actual message being sent, you will notice in the headers: From: (Literally, the from field is blank.) I wiped my Evolution configuration and started from scratch and yielded the same result. I also have an EWS account configured with Exchange 2013 and have been using it successfully. I have attached three files that demonstrate the situation: debug.log - The dump of the interchange between AWS and Evolution soap_post.xml - The prettied up version of the POST sent to AWS containing the message payload mime_decode.txt - The decoded message as contained within the MimeContent field in the XML I am happy to provide more information; let me know what is needed. seliger@core:~$ dpkg -l | grep evolution ii evolution 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.2 amd64groupware suite with mail client and organizer ii evolution-common3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.2 all architecture independent files for Evolution ii evolution-data-server 3.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64evolution database backend server ii evolution-data-server-common3.18.5-1ubuntu1 all architecture independent files for Evolution Data Server ii evolution-data-server-online-accounts 3.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64evolution data server integration with Ubuntu Online Accounts ii evolution-ews 3.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64Exchange Web Services integration for Evolution ii evolution-plugins 3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.2 amd64standard plugins for Evolution ii libebackend-1.2-10:amd643.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64Utility library for evolution data servers ii libebook-1.2-16:amd64 3.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64Client library for evolution address books ii libebook-contacts-1.2-2:amd64 3.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64Client library for evolution contacts books ii libecal-1.2-19:amd643.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64Client library for evolution calendars ii libedata-book-1.2-25:amd64 3.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64Backend library for evolution address books ii libedata-cal-1.2-28:amd64 3.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64Backend library for evolution calendars ii libedataserver-1.2-21:amd64 3.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64Utility library for evolution data servers ii libedataserverui-1.2-1:amd643.18.5-1ubuntu1 amd64Utility library for evolution data servers ii libevolution3.18.5.2-0ubuntu3.2 amd64evolution libraries -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1673548 Title: evolution-ews changes the from field to invalid@invalid To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution-ews/+bug/1673548/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1357093] Re: Kernels not autoremoving, causing out of space error on LVM or Encrypted installation or on any installation, when /boot partition gets full
This bug has just hosed a system I installed for my parents. An unattended-upgrader that breaks your system if you don't attend to it IS broken. Having known about this problem for many years, the least you could have done is added a warning to the installer that choosing lvm or encryption will make a system that breaks itself. The idea that novice users can just run script workarounds is entirely unrealistic. a) They don't know about the problem if they haven't been told (burying it deep in the manuals or text that whizzes by is not good enough) b) from a security PoV they shouldn't be run anything they cut & paste in The general attitude to a major showstopper that is causing a lot of pain for novice users shown in this bug is frankly appalling and I'm pretty much inclined to ditch Ubuntu because of it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1357093 Title: Kernels not autoremoving, causing out of space error on LVM or Encrypted installation or on any installation, when /boot partition gets full To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unattended-upgrades/+bug/1357093/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1712858] Re: system freezes occasionally for several minutes
This sounds like it might be the pulseaudio process getting stuck in a system call that's particular to your sound hardware/driver. Please try running 'lspci -k' and pasting the output here. Also, the problem might not be audio-related at all. It might be some other part of your kernel that's hanging and pulseaudio is just mentioned in the syslog because it's the only one with realtime threads. That doesn't mean those threads caused the problem necessarily. Please also try the latest live image (just boot from USB and leave it running for a while): http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete ** Changed in: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1712858 Title: system freezes occasionally for several minutes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1712858/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. [Bug 1716246] Re: i dont know whats going on
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -> About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete.
