[Bug 1772936] Re: Apparmor enforcment blocks image permissions in libvirtd
Hi Stephen, it would be useful to hear what release you are on going further. But we didn't have an apparmor change in libvirt/qemu that puts on more restrictions in any release, but maybe a side effect of somthing else? I quickly retries and on all of my systems but can still start guests on all of those. The apparmor profile is generated based on your guest xml, and will be in /etc/apparmor.d/libvirt/libvirt-.files Usually disk entries in that file are added as rules, so I'd like to see the xml and profile to check if something is missing. Questions: 1. what Ubuntu release are you on 2. what is the version of your libvirt and qemu packages 3. could you share your guest xml (virsh dumpxml ) 4. could you share the generated apparmor profile (virsh dominfo to get the uuid, then check the file path) With those we might find what is going on. ** Changed in: libvirt (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772936 Title: Apparmor enforcment blocks image permissions in libvirtd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1772936/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

There could be two things thou: 2. a "uvt-kvm purge " command that will remove the files it would create for a guest of that name - with big warnings - that would avoid everyone having to learn which paths to look for 1. on uvt-kvm destroy with an undefined guest uvtool should emit a warning why it can't and mention the purge action Doesn't change anything on the current triage of this, but I came by and wanted to share my idea for it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1452095 Title: uvtool won't clean up storage if vm does not exist To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/uvtool/+bug/1452095/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1773085] [NEW] extra non-image storage added later breaks destroy action
Public bug reported: Hi, when you add further images to a uvt guest delete will still clean up fine in my experience. [Bug 1773004] Re: qemu-system-x86_64 segfaults during guest kernel boot
Hi Tuomas, per the guest serial console this seems to be when it initialized the disks. I tried to reproduce with a guest I had that worked fine on a system with Luns, and added a lun snippet just like yours (ater making sure multipath let it go on the host). This auto-adds a controller like: This matches the one you have (other than the arch difference). I can't use a trusty guest like you did as the system I had luns accessible was a mainframe which only started to be supported with Xenial. So I did xenial and Bionic guests and both worked fine. Before I go hunting for a different system with a free lun to test I'd have a few questions to you: 1. could you try if this depends hard on the guest version and or your snapshot Get a few basic default guests easily via # will pull in latest daily images $ uvt-simplestreams-libvirt --verbose sync --source http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/daily arch=amd64 label=daily # will spawn a basic guest based on the cloud images for each release $ for rel in trusty xenial bionic; do uvt-kvm create --password ubuntu $rel arch=amd64 release=$rel label=daily; done # once they booted up and did their first init, shut them all down # then virsh edit your Lun passthrough snippet # then start each of them one by one, checking for the disk (lsblk) in the guest Q: is the error occurring in these clean Tursty/Xenial/Bionic? 2. On the actual crash I only see in dmesg [ 9659.700041] qemu-system-x86[26709]: segfault at 4 ip 559d63fdba53 sp 7f6db1de1fb0 error 4 in qemu-system-x86_64[559d639a4000+8d1000] [ 9659.813263] sdb: sdb1 sdb2 sdb3 [ 9659.816659] sda: sda1 sda2 sda3 [ 9659.819971] sda: sda1 sda2 sda3 That not a lot to check what might have broken, but I assume you get a .crash file for it. Please could you try on your system: run apport on your crash like [2] but with stdout and then report bag the ouput here as well: $ apport-retrace --confirm --stdout --sandbox system --verbose --cache /mypath/cache/apport-retrace --output /mypath/apport-retrace/appname.1000.crash /var/crash/_usr_bin_appname.1000.crash If you run into issues [1][3] have many infos on that. Odd, I don't remember where I had the -224 kernel from exactly - even in proposed it isn't :-/. The next one still is a bit out it seems per bug 1772960 I agree that the last you can currently get is linux-image-generic 4.4.0.127.133 But with that as well it just works fine for me. I suffer with you on every comment seeing you are still blocked, but lacking any way to circle in closer on the actual issue from your data or reproduce it on my side my hands are tied. [Bug 1722074] Re: warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.01H:ECX.vmx
Hi, this is not a show stopper at all. It is just a warning and it is fine. It is a trade-off between the "ease to use nested virt" vs "this warning". For example on an intel chip you'd get: qemu-system-x86_64: warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.8001H:ECX.svm And that as well is no issue. Since this is Ubuntu downstream decision to prefer simplicity for nested virt I marked upstream qemu task invalid. There you'd not see the warning, but instead would have to jump a few extra whoops to get nesting working. And finally, this code really is like that for longer than I take a look at it, so it might be that today one could solve it differently. There could be much more magic code to make it work as comfortable on both platforms and avoid the warning, but honestly - it wasn't an issue for many years, and I think it still is none. So for the Ubuntu portion, I'll set confirmed+low(est) prio until it is clear that this really breaks something it didn't in the past years. ** Changed in: qemu (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => Confirmed ** Changed in: qemu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Wishlist ** Changed in: qemu (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist => Low -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1722074 Title: warning: host doesn't support requested feature: CPUID.01H:ECX.vmx To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qemu/+bug/1722074/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find. ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772640 Title: package python-pkg-resources 20.7.0-1 failed to install/upgrade: 설치한 post-installation 스크립트 하위 프로세스가 오류 1번을 리턴했습니다 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-setuptools/+bug/1772640/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1772279] Re: 2018.05.21
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -> About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete. Thanks! ** Information type changed from Private Security to Public ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1772279 Title: 2018.05.21 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1772279/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Your bug report is more likely to get attention if it is made in English, since this is the language understood by the majority of Ubuntu developers.
