[Bug 1951491] Re: Can't run snaps: .slice/session-1.scope is not a snap cgroup
Ok, so the logs you attached earlier are: 2021/12/03 15:21:45.540312 tracking.go:45: DEBUG: creating transient scope snap.chromium.chromium 2021/12/03 15:21:45.543273 tracking.go:185: DEBUG: using session bus 2021/12/03 15:21:45.547127 tracking.go:290: DEBUG: StartTransientUnit failed with "org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited": [Process org.freedesktop.systemd1 exited with status 1] 2021/12/03 15:21:45.547174 cmd_run.go:1187: DEBUG: snapd cannot track the started application 2021/12/03 15:21:45.547199 cmd_run.go:1188: DEBUG: snap refreshes will not be postponed by this process When snap starts the /usr/bin/snap binary tries to create a scope for the application. The scope is needed so that the app can run in a separate cgroup which is then confined to access specific devices. Unfortunately this is the only way to set this up on a cgroup v2 system. The setup is done by talking to your `systemd --user` instance. In the log it's clearly indicated that it failed and systemd exited, thus no scope and the app cannot be run, because the confinement would break your session cgroup (.slice/session-1.scope). I'm afraid I don't know enough about your setup to guess what could be wrong there and why the user instance may have exited. Perhaps reviewing the user logs (journalctl --user) could help uncover the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1951491 Title: Can't run snaps: .slice/session-1.scope is not a snap cgroup To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1951491/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1954711] Re: application can't open a window without network-manager connection
Hi Tobias, thank you for getting in touch! I just tried installing the manuskript snap, and verified that indeed it does not start. After a few seconds it prints this line: Qt: Session management error: Could not open network socket I'm not sure where this error comes from; I suspected that it could be coming from the QSessionManager class, but a quick grep in manuskript source code did not find anything (though maybe it's being used by some of manuskript's dependencies?). A useful tool to debug such cases is `snappy-debug`: you just start it with the -f flag, and then start the application you want to debug: snappy-debug -f This will start monitoring the system log for error messages, and print out some information that might be useful to fix the issue. In our case, it prints: === = AppArmor = Time: Dec 14 09:50:27 Log: apparmor="DENIED" operation="capable" profile="/snap/core/11993/usr/lib/snapd/snap-confine" pid=16204 comm="snap-confine" capability=4 capname="fsetid" Capability: fsetid Suggestions: * adjust program to not require 'CAP_FSETID' (see 'man 7 capabilities') * add one of 'account-control' to 'plugs' * do nothing if program otherwise works properly = AppArmor = Time: Dec 14 09:50:56 Log: apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" profile="snap.manuskript.manuskript" name="/proc/16204/mounts" pid=16204 comm="python3" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=1000 ouid=1000 File: /proc/16204/mounts (read) Suggestions: * adjust program to not access '@{PROC}/@{pid}/mounts' * add one of 'mount-observe, network-control' to 'plugs' = Seccomp = Time: Dec 14 09:50:58 Log: auid=1000 uid=1000 gid=1000 ses=3 pid=16204 comm="python3" exe="/snap/manuskript/467/usr/bin/python3.6" sig=0 arch=c03e 41(socket) compat=0 ip=0x7efe6992dd57 code=0x5 Syscall: socket Suggestions: * add account-control (if using NETLINK_AUDIT) * add audio-playback (if using NETLINK_KOBJECT_UEVENT) * add bluetooth-control (if using AF_{ALG,BLUETOOTH}) * add firewall-control (if using NETLINK_{FIREWALL,IP6_FW,NETFILTER,NF_LOG,ROUTE}) * add hardware-observe (if using NETLINK_{GENERIC,KOBJECT_UEVENT}) * add netlink-audit (if using NETLINK_AUDIT) * add netlink-connector (if using NETLINK_CONNECTOR) * add network (if using AF_INET{,6}, AF_CONN, NETLINK_ROUTE) * add network-bind (if using AF_INET{,6}, NETLINK_ROUTE) * add network-control (if using AF_{APPLETALK,BRIDGE,INET,INET6,IPX,PACKET,PPPOX,SNA}, NETLINK_{DNRTMSG,FIB_LOOKUP,GENERIC,INET_DIAG,ISCSI,KOBJECT_UEVENT,RDMA,ROUTE,XFRM}) * add network-observe (if using SOCK_RAW, AF_INET{,6}), NETLINK_{GENERIC,INET_DIAG,KOBJECT_UEVENT,ROUTE}) * add raw-usb (if using NETLINK_KOBJECT_UEVENT) * add time-control (if using NETLINK_AUDIT) * add unity7 (if using NETLINK_KOBJECT_UEVENT) * add upower-observe (if using NETLINK_KOBJECT_UEVENT) * add x11 (if using NETLINK_KOBJECT_UEVENT) = AppArmor = Time: Dec 14 09:50:58 Log: apparmor="DENIED" operation="dbus_method_call" bus="system" path="/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager" interface="org.freedesktop.DBus.Properties" member="GetAll" mask="send" name="org.freedesktop.NetworkManager" pid=16204 label="snap.manuskript.manuskript" peer_pid=3317 peer_label="unconfined" DBus access Suggestion: * try adding one of 'network-manager, network-manager-observe' to 'plugs' === There are a few things we can do at this point. The first one, in my opinion, is to figure out where in manuskript code these operations are triggered, and understand what they are used for, and whether they are really needed (maybe there are other ways to accomplish the same task). Once we have decided that all these operations are necessary, we need to find out which of the denials above is actually preventing the application from working: it's very well possible that not all of the denials are fatal, and maybe we just need to fix one of them. The instructions given by Ian in the forum thread you linked to (https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/request-for-auto-connection-of-jami- network-manager/22833/17) can be adapted here too. Please let me know if you manage to find out what exactly is blocking manuskript, and then we can discuss on how to proceed. [Bug 1954716] Re: rpi nfsroot vers=4 not supported anymore?
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command only once, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 1954716 When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu- bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs. Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954716 Title: rpi nfsroot vers=4 not supported anymore? [Bug 1916469] Re: Apps don't use Wayland by default
Most Ubuntu users stick to the default session type which is now Wayland. And most Ubuntu users probably never open Thunderbird. So the subset of users affected by bug 1932328 is small compared to the overall set size (millions?). A fix is committed for bug 1932328 and coming in the next update. We've been focussed on and discussing this issue for several years now, waiting for the right time to default to Wayland. We waited longer than other distros and made the switch in the April 2021 release. Asking to change it back for one Thunderbird bug makes no sense. Aside from anything else, you can just choose Xorg on the login screen if you don't like the Wayland session. Change it once and your choice is remembered. You will never see Wayland again. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916469 Title: Apps don't use Wayland by default To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/firefox/+bug/1916469/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1954705] Re: When the refresh starts, someting doesn't work right. I get an error message and stop the refresh. For two months...
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The ubuntu-release-upgrader` tool upgrades one Ubuntu release to another; eg. from 21.04 to 21.10. Is this what you're trying to do? as the package you've filed against is not used for normal update/upgrades. Bug reporting is mostly about finding & fixing problems thus preventing future users from hitting the same bug. I suspect a Support site would be more appropriate, eg. https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu. You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org, or for more support options please look at https://discourse.ubuntu.com/t/community-support/709 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954705 Title: When the refresh starts, someting doesn't work right. [Bug 1954693] Re: I can not upgrade
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. Ubuntu 16.04 (xenial) reached end-of-standard-support on April 29, 2021. See this document for currently supported Ubuntu releases: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases The installation reports your system was installed only one day ago using EOL media; I'd suggest starting again with a supported release of Ubuntu (standard support unless you plan on using ESM or extended support which is required for Xenial/16.04 from 30-April-2021) We appreciate that this bug may be old and you might not be interested in discussing it any more. But if you are then please install a supported release of Ubuntu version and re-test. If you then find the bug is still present in a supported Ubuntu version, please add a comment here telling us which new version it is in. ** Changed in: ubuntu-release-upgrader (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954693 Title: I can not upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1954693/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1954719] [NEW] Ubuntu Server 20.04.3 autoinstall - User not available until reboot
Public bug reported: As per documentation: - late-commands -- Shell commands to run after the install has completed successfully and any updates and packages installed, just before the system reboots. Doesn’t seem to be the case. At least during late-commands I would expect the system to be finished as per description, but i.e. the defined user in identity isn’t even in `/target/etc/passwd` nor in `/etc/passwd`. Caused my late-command script to fail. The specified user(s) in the `identity` or `user-data` section is/are not applied until the final reboot happens. Therefore, late-command is not being run in a complete state of the install! How to check? Watch both passwd or group until the installer finishes. Nothing happens there. On reboot everything is suddenly there. This prevents my late-command scripts to fail, `in-target target=/target`, i.e. `su: user USER does not exist`. Manually adding users in late-command using `useradd` causes this user to be id 1000 and every other following counted up. Furthermore those users added by the installer are not being able to login then because their home directory belongs to `root:root`. ** Affects: subiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954719 Title: Ubuntu Server 20.04.3 autoinstall - User not available until reboot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/subiquity/+bug/1954719/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1952234] Re: linux-azure: add Icelake servers support in no-HWP mode to cpufreq/intel_pstate driver
This bug is awaiting verification that the linux- azure-4.15/4.15.0-1129.142 kernel in -proposed solves the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-bionic' to 'verification-done-bionic'. If the problem still exists, change the tag 'verification-needed-bionic' to 'verification-failed-bionic'. If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed. [Bug 1954711] [NEW] application can't open a window without network-manager connection
Public bug reported: I'm maintaining the snap package for some weeks now and I encountered a very weird aspect of snaps: The application "manuskript" can be installed normally via snapcraft as snap and it can be launched but its window (using Python and Qt5) does not appear. However if you manually give the snap the permission to use the "network-manager" connection, the window appears during start as expected but it simply does not work without it... at least as long as I use Ubuntu 20.04 LTS or 21.04. I've not tried other Ubuntu derivates but it is very weird since this behavior does not exist on Manjaro KDE even though I thought snaps should perform best on Ubuntu? ^^' I double-checked by the way that Manjaro does not just open the connection "network-manager" automatically during installation or something. The snap just does not need it, like it should be. Another thing about this, why I'm saying "a very weird aspect of snaps": It does appear in other snap applications using Qt5 as well. For example in the Qt version of GNU Jami. That's how I encountered the work-around with enabling the "network-manager" connection: https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/request-for-auto-connection-of-jami- network-manager/22833/17 So maybe someone can help with this because I don't like recommending users to set a permission which needs them signing in extra. Also the application really shouldn't get a permission it does not need to have anyway. Maybe it's not even an issue with snapd but I don't know what could be the cause otherwise. So send me a link to track the solution for this issue please, if you have any more information. Thanks. ** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1954711 Title: application can't open a window without network-manager connection To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1954711/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
