. If you need more examples, you can look at http://people.canonical.com

[Bug 533279] Re: Remove need for .lernid configuration files

2011-06-07 Thread Nathan Handler
We are usually fairly good about making sure all sessions in an event
have the same name. So having Lernid assume that the Event name will be
the same is fine. The tricky part is, for something like Ubuntu Open
Week, which occurs twice each year, you would not want to display
sessions from prior Open Week events in the schedule. At the same time,
for events like the Packaging Training Sessions, which happened once
each week (when they were occurring regularly), I think showing that
there is another session scheduled for next week would be nice. Maybe
only show the previous n and next m sessions in the list, and then have
the list automatically scroll down to the current session.

Also, I think we already sorted this out, but we do not include the []s
around lines in the ical. I think we made them optional a while ago in
Lernid, but this should be double checked.

I also like the idea of having the config files ship with lernid rather
than pulling them from a remote server. Maybe add a feature to allow the
user to manually configure a new classroom for lernid from within
lernid.

It might also be nice to pull the classroom URL from the ical's
description. We have not used this calendar description in Ubuntu, but
having https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Classroom mentioned in there seems fine
to me. This would mean one less value that would need to be hard-coded
into the config file.

[Bug 612682] Re: KVIrc security release 4.0.2 avaible

2011-03-14 Thread Nathan Handler
This patch should resolve this issue. It is based on the patch applied
upstream (https://svn.kvirc.de/kvirc/changeset/4693) and in Debian
(http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=5;filename=kvirc_3.4
.0_security-team.debdiff;att=2;bug=590745). Ubuntu Maverick, Natty, and
Debian already have this patch. The patch applies, and the resulting
package is able to be built
(https://launchpad.net/~nhandler/+archive/ppa/+sourcepub/1550219
/+listing-archive-extra). I am waiting on confirmation from another
member of freenode staff (or anyone else in the community) to confirm
that this patched version of the package successfully resolves the
vulnerability present in the current version of the package.

[Bug 606640] Re: Please merge model-builder 0.4.1-5 (universe) from Debian unstable main

2010-07-20 Thread Nathan Handler
Angel, I have looked into this a little. Version 0.4.1-4 did indeed
Build-Depend on python-central (= 0.6.0). This can be seen in the svn
branch: http://bollin.googlecode.com/svn/model-
builder/tags/0.4.1-4/debian/control . However, there is no mention in
the changelog of why this change was reverted. It very well could have
been by mistake. Can you contact the Debian Maintainer for the package
and ask them about it?

[Bug 587734] [NEW] [needs-packaging] ubuntu-wallpapers-history

2010-05-30 Thread Nathan Handler
Public bug reported:

Please see https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-
devel/2010-March/030365.html

Since the ubuntu-wallpapers package is updated each release, the idea
behind ubuntu-wallpapers-history was to have a separate package that
provided all of the old wallpapers for people who do not like the new
wallpapers or like the old ones more.

[Bug 520889] Re: Please sync banshee 1.5.3-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2010-02-12 Thread Nathan Handler
This package currently cannot be synced. It needs libboo-cil-dev to
build (which is in the boo source package). However, boo in lucid only
builds libboo2.0-cil. The boo in unstable does build a libboo-cli-dev
package. We should get this new boo into lucid before syncing banshee.

I made a small adjustment to the maintainer field. In the changelog,
there is no need to mention changing the maintainer field to comply with
Ubuntu policy. You were also missing a blank line in your changelog
entry. I have made the changes and uploaded. Thanks for your
contribution.

[Bug 490193] Re: Please sync virtualbox-ose 3.0.10-dfsg-2 (universe) from Debian testing (main)

2009-11-29 Thread Nathan Handler
It looks like this package was previously merged from Debian:

virtualbox-ose (3.0.8-dfsg-1ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * Merge from debian unstable (LP: #444812), remaining changes:
- Enable DKMS support on virtualbox host and guest modules (LP: #267097)
  - Drop virtualbox-ose{-guest,}-modules-* package templates
  - Recommend *-source instead of *-modules packages
  - Replace error messages related to missing/mismatched
kernel module accordingly
- Autoload kernel module
  - LOAD_VBOXDRV_MODULE=1 in virtualbox-ose.default
- Disable update action
  - patches/u01-disable-update-action.dpatch
- Virtualbox should go in Accessories, not in System tools (LP: #288590)
  - virtualbox-ose-qt.files/virtualbox-ose.desktop
- Add apport hook
  - virtualbox-ose.files/source_virtualbox-ose.py
  - virtualbox-ose.install
- Add launchpad integration
  - control
  - lpi-bug.xpm
  - patches/u02-lp-integration.dpatch
  * Try to remove existing dkms modules before adding the new modules
(LP: #434503)
- debian/virtualbox-ose-source.postinst
- debian/virtualbox-ose-guest-source.postinst
  * Don't fail if dkms modules have already been removed
- debian/virtualbox-ose-source.prerm
- debian/virtualbox-ose-guest-source.prerm

Could you please explain why these changes are no longer needed in
Ubuntu? Have they all been applied upstream? Are they no longer needed?

[Bug 472824] Re: Change defaults for 'requestsync' and 'pull-debian-source' to 'testing'

2009-11-07 Thread Nathan Handler
I have just installed ubuntu-dev-tools from karmic-proposed. Both pull-
debian-source and requestsync are correctly using 'testing' instead of
'unstable' as the default setting. I was able to successfully download a
source package from Debian testing with pull-debian-source, as well as
successfully request a sync from Debian testing.

[Bug 441950] Re: dh-make-perl 0.59 FTBFS since NO_NETWORK is unset

2009-10-05 Thread Nathan Handler
Have you looked into dh-make-perl 0.60 at all? gregor said that this
issue is fixed in 0.60. Depending on the changes introduced, it might be
better to sync the package rather than maintain a delta. It will also
allow the package to continue to be automatically synced from Debian
once the lucid repositories open up.

[Bug 439906] Re: Push to debian the ubuntu-dev-tools that are relevant for them

2009-10-01 Thread Nathan Handler
Before we can actually submit the tools upstream to Debian, we need to
decide which tools are relevant. I have gone through all of the scripts
and marked what scripts I feel would be useful to have in Debian (O=Good
for Debian, X=Ubuntu-only)

X 404main - used to check what components a package's deps are in, for
doing a main inclusion report for example.
X buildd - give commands to the Launchpad build daemons from the command line.
O check-symbols - will compare and give you a diff of the exported symbols of
all .so files in a binary package.
O dch-repeat - used to repeat a change log into an older release.
X dgetlp - download a source package from the Launchpad library.
X get-branches - used to branch/checkout all the bzr branches in a Launchpad
team.
O get-build-deps - install the build dependencies needed for a package
reading debian/control.
X grab-attachments - download all bug attachments from a Launchpad bug
report.
  X grab-merge - grabs a merge from merges.ubuntu.com easily.
X hugdaylist - compile HugDay lists from bug list URLs.
  X lp-project-upload - upload a release tarball to a Launchpad project
X lp-set-dup - sets the duplicate of bug of a bug and its dups.
  X manage-credentials - manage Launchpad token credentials.
X massfile - fill multiple bugs using a template.
O mk-sbuild-lv - script to create LVM snapshot chroots via schroot and
sbuild.
  O pbuilder-dist - pbuilder wrapper script.
X pull-debian-debdiff - attempts to find and download a specific version of
a Debian package and its immediate parent to generate a debdiff.
O pull-debian-source - downloads the lastest source package available in
Debian of a package.
X pull-lp-source - downloads lastest source package from Launchpad.
X pull-revu-source - downloads the latest source package from REVU
X requestsync - files a sync request with Debian changelog and ratione.
O reverse-build-depends - find the reverse build dependencies that a package
has.
O submittodebian - automatically send your changes to Debian as a bug report.
O suspicious-source - outputs a list of files which are not common source
files.
X ubuntu-iso - output information of an Ubuntu ISO image.
X update-maintainer - script to update maintainer field in ubuntu packages.
O what-patch - determines what patch system, if any, a source package is
using.

I must admit that I am not very familiar with some of the scripts in
ubuntu-dev-tools, so I would appreciate it if some other people would
review my list and make any necessary corrections.

Once this is done, we need to decide how we will submit the scripts.
Should we simply request for them to be included in the 'devscripts'
package? Or would it be better to try and group them with related
packages (ex pbuilder-dist with pbuilder)?

[Bug 404272] Re: FTBFS: tests failed

2009-09-18 Thread Nathan Handler
We are past Feature Freeze, and since dh-make-perl has had a fair number
of changes to the debian/rules file and to its dependencies (much more
than just bug fixes), I think an ACK from motu-release would be
appropriate. I am subscribing motu-release and unsubscribing ubuntu-

[Bug 425640] Re: Please sync get-iplayer 2.22-1 from Debian

2009-09-18 Thread Nathan Handler
I am a little confused about what version of get-iplayer you are
requesting a sync for. The bug title says 2.22-1, your comment says
2.26-1, and I now see that there is a 2.36-1 package in Debian now.
Could you please clarify what version of the package you are requesting
a sync for?

[Bug 428809] Re: [Freeze Exception] [Sync Request] Sync lives 1.1.2 (universe) from Debian main unstable

2009-09-14 Thread Nathan Handler
Could you please explain what testing you have done with lives 1.1.2 ?
Have you actually confirmed that the bug causing it to crash on amd64
(as well as the other changes) are actually implemented and not just
mentioned in the changelog?
