[Bug 527593] [NEW] Printing Problem with Images on HP Officejet K550 using Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS Server
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups On a Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS Server CUPS Version 1.3.7 (hpijs 2.8.2) is installed. A HP Officejet K550dtn is connected via port 9100. The printer seems to work correctly an prints e. g. OpenOffice documents without problems. However, if I try to print a bigger image (3mb or above) the printing job is canceled without any errors. I don't think it arrives at the printer for the printer's job list does not show any new jobs. The problem is solved when I use a newer version of CUPS at a Ubuntu 9.10 workstation. Unfortunately I cannot reinstall the whole server in order to solve the problem and I am not very experienced in installing packages manually (an I am afraid of crashing our server) For this reason I would like to ask whether it was possible to publish an update for cups for the LTS Server version. I can imagine that a lot of problems beside mine would be solved. Or can I solve my problem anyhow else? [Bug 310250] Re: ltsp-client: attempted to send on closed socket
This seems to be the same problem. http://www.mail-archive.com/ltsp- disc...@lists.sourceforge.net/msg35112.html Solution (see there): Hello, because of importance of these probĺems we have now 3 ways to protect the clients from freeze because of loosing connections: 1. TCP-Keepalive tuning (the cleanest way) /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_time = 600 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_intvl = 10 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_keepalive_probes = 50 2. Using 'nbd-client' with '-persist'-Option (helps sometimes when 1. fails) 3. Using 'cron' script, which checks every minute ... if (the connection is lost) { if (nobody uses that client){ reboot / shutdown } } Here you have to remember, that the programs 'reboot/shutdown/poweroff' and their libs have to be cached, before the connection breaks Now it works fine: even if somebody does something stupid like turn off a switch or disconnects a cable. I cannot believe that this is a problem of xinetd. I converted the inet.conf via xconv.pl, it should do exactly what inetd does. [Bug 140460] Re: Evolution : On startup unable to connect to POP server
I can confirm this bug. On http://forum.ubuntuusers.de/topic/159154/?p=1354627#1354627 I could find a possibility to stop that annoying error messages: First save your old emails. Then go to the evolution folder and delete all files called inbox*. Afterwards move your emails back to the newly created inbox . [Bug 34505] Actually a problem of the DHCP Client?
I wonder if that problem is actually a (single) problem of DHCP. - I am using ndiswrapper (Broadcom Chipset, bcm43xx native driver disabled) - NetworkManager cannot establish a connection at all (that is maybe a different problem. I uninstalled it completely) - a network configuration was established via /etc/network/interfaces and wpa_supplicant; ifdown/ifup commands were registered in rc.local (without any effect!) - After Ubuntu has started up in many cases a connection to the access point has not been established; I need to set it up manually (first ifdown eth1 in order to close an existing connection, then ifup eth1) - After connection has been corrupted (i. e. standby mode) I have to retry disconnecting/connection several times (my wlan device eth1 is not displayed in the ifconfig printout anymore after a wakeup from standby). The DHCP client first seemed to be the problem (did not get an IP address), but even after static IP configuration the problem has NOT been solved. However, connection on bootup is started correctly with a static IP. - the dmesg printout often contains the error message eth1: no IPv6 routers present. I tried to disable the ipv6 module - no effect - I think I could reduce the number of disconnecting/connection retrials needed to connect by setting the ap_scan variable in wpa_supplicant.conf to 2 (formerly 1) but I don't know I don't know if my problem is really the same problem as described above, but perhaps I can help to solve that bug on Ubuntu.
