[Bug 27463] Re: [needs-packaging] 389 Directory Server for Ubuntu
We should package the LdapImport script from http://wiki.babel.com.au/index.php?area=Linux_Projects&page=LdapImport#toc1 as it is one of the Fedora recommended tools to migrate from other LDAP servers or /etc/passwd files. I've tested it importing from /etc/passwd|shadow|group and it works very well with 389. If it is already done, doh! If you want me to do it, let me know. Seems that in addition to the script files, the following are necessary: - libnet-ldap-perl, libnet-dns-perl, liblog-log4perl-perl, liblog-dispatch-perl ** Attachment added: "LdapImport perl scripts" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/27463/+attachment/2808758/+files/LdapImport.tgz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/27463 Title: [needs-packaging] 389 Directory Server for Ubuntu To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/27463/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 425808] Re: Extension Manager Fails to Add New Extensions
I tried the "Report Builder" and "Lorem Ipsum" extensions as well as a couple random ones that I do not recall from: http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/ The one that is really important for me at the moment, though, is Zotero's OO.o integration extension from: http://www.zotero.org/download/integration/OOo-Plugin-2.0a2/Zotero.oxt I have attempted to install it running as a normal user (UID=1000) and as root. In both cases, the error was as initially reported. Unzipping the .oxt files shoes that the extension binaries look sane and uncorrupted. I seems that the extension manager is somehow mangling the file descriptor, though this is an uneducated guess. [Bug 384167] Re: [HP 2133] wl module causes hard lock
FWIW, Andrew Aylett's patched openchrome module did not resolve the problem for me. You can find his patch at https://launchpad.net/~andrew- aylett/+archive/ppa/+sourcepub/608672/+listing-archive-extra . In addition to disabling the WLAN device in BIOS, I can also boot into single user mode, "modprobe -r wl; modprobe -r ssb" and then continue booting and avoid the hard lock. This problem looks superficially similar to https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331952 however, that bug references the Jaunty kernel not the Karmic one. It seems like the wl module and the openchrome module are stomping on each-others toes; but, I am not sophisticated enough to debug their operations. For those of us on the Mininote 2133 platform, this is a killer bug, since netbooks without WiFi lose much of their appeal. -- [HP 2133] wl module causes hard lock https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/384167 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 384167] Re: [HP 2133] wl module causes hard lock
Well, I remembered that I have disabled the WLAN (BCM4312) via BIOS so that I can use my computer. So, to get you a version that shows the bug, I re-enabled WLAN and rebooted. The system hard-locked as expected. I powered off manually and, after disbabling the WLAN controller, I am attaching Xorg.1.log which shows where the lock occurs. [Bug 384167] [NEW] wl module causes hard lock
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bcmwl-kernel-source Using the latest, as of now, version of dkms and bcmwl-kernel-source, the wl module builds seemingly find. Doing a depmod -a and update- initramfs cycle, the module loads on boot; the laptop (HP Mininote 2133) WiFi light transitions to blue indicating that the driver loaded. Upon kdm starting up, however, the entire system hard locks. The three finger salute does nothing, nor does . The only way to recover is to force a power cycle. Making things even more wierd, this is very repeatable; however, if one keeps the cursor moving continuously using the integrated Synaptics touchpad while kdm/X11 are loading, the system boots without locking. In this latter case, the eth1 wireless interface shows in the logs, but any attempt to interact with it, e.g. iwconfig, causes an immediate hard lock. This particular BCM4312 device worked well with ndiswrapper through hardy and with the wl module in LRM in intrepid. It never worked with the Jaunty kernels; which motivated my upgrade to karmic. Unfortunately, it still does not work. Being a laptop, this is a serious regression. Note that with the Jaunty and Karmic kernels, neither wl, nor ndiswrapper, nor b43 work. With Intrepid and earlier, I used the VIA modules for the Chrome9HC video. For the Jaunty and Karmic kernels, this is not available from VIAarena, so I am using the openchrome module that ships with Ubuntu. Let me know how I can help as this is driving me (more) bonkers (than normal :)). ** Affects: bcmwl (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- wl module causes hard lock https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/384167 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 39078] Re: gnome-cups-add causes cupsd/cups-driverd to spin forever
/usr/share/ppd is where the PPDs are located for me. And, sorry, by removing the recursive symlinks, I no longer have this issue. It was pretty straightforward, as I remember. In /usr/share/ppd/foo/bar there would be a link to /usr/share/ppd/foo. When the update script ran, it would recursively add /usr/share/ppd/foo/bar/foo[/bar/foo/bar...] which is why the process seemed to hang. I have no idea at what point in time these links were created, only that I did not do so myself. On this system, I started with a fresh install of Hardy and dist-upgraded to Intrepid. [Bug 33269] Re: root filesystem fails to mount (sata_nv module is loaded)
I am having a very similar problem. I am using a Pentium D 805 dual core on a ECS RC410L/800-Mv2.0, 3 IDE HDDs, 0 SATA devices, 1 IDE HDD. I have tried installing from both the 6.06 alternate install CD and the 6.06 desktop CD. In either case, the system works fine, but with only 1 CPU used. When I apt-get install linux-image-smp (and the associated restricted modules), the system will begin to boot, but stop at "mounting root file system..." and never respond again, even after long (multiple hour) waits. I can boot back into the 386 uniprocessor kernel just fine, so it does not prevent me from using the system. I then tried doing a dist-upgrade to edgy; and, this also works with the default UP 386 kernel. But, apt- get'ing the 686 smp kernel again stops at the same place. I tried using kpkg to build my own kernel and, again, had the same failure. I have tried dpkg-reconfigure udev before rebooting into the new kernel, to no avail.
