[Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in muxless hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade
I'm hitting this bug, and I can't get any of the workarounds to work. I'm on Kubuntu Saucy, and I've tried fglrx, fglrx-updates, fglrx from x-edgers (https://launchpad.net/~xorg- edgers/+archive/ppa?field.series_filter=saucy), and three versions of the AMD binary driver (13.4, 13.9, and 13.11 beta). Nothing works, I get segfaults with everything, straight after it tries to load GLX (the segfault byte identifier is different each time, but I guess that could be because of un-related code changes). I didn't try the andrikos version (https://launchpad.net/~andrikos/+archive/ppa) because it's not available for saucy. [Bug 939863] Re: Warning message from ffmpeg program needs update
I agree with reagle. From a user's perspective, this is a really low move on the part of the libav/ubuntu/debian team. Regardless of the semantics, the name ffmpeg is inevitably linked to the ffmpeg.org project. The message "THIS PROGRAM IS DEPRECATED" is highly deceptive, especially now that ffmpeg and libav have started to diverge a bit more. While it may be true that the /usr/bin/ffmpeg link in ubuntu is deprecated, it's just an outright lie to say that the ffmpeg program is deprecated. That's like saying making a link from msword to lowriter, and then stating that Microsoft Office is deprecated. Anyway, it's been, what, 3 or 4 versions of Ubuntu since this switch was made? Why not just deprecate it already? [Bug 371114] [NEW] massive artefacting in qt4 text areas (kate, skype, etc)
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libqt4-core When I use Qt4 applications, I randomly get massive artifacting in text areas. Artefacts appear either as parts of the desktop (including widgets), or as random chunks of large (20-40px?), bold text, in an un- related font. This happens once every 5-20 minutes, and can be fixed by re-drawing what's on each pixel (ie. by highlighting the area of text under the artefact, or scrolling the affected areas out of view) This mostly happens in Kate, but also in skype, and possibly other programs. [Bug 356924] [NEW] [KDE] click to block auto-suspend does not work.
Public bug reported: If kde's battery monitor applet is set to auto-standby after a set period (ie. 10 minutes), it pops up a notification saying: "The computer will suspend to disk in 10 seconds. [Bug 298902] Re: Closing lid after telling computer to shut down results in hibernate
This happens for me too, and has happened for me since dapper. I've always run Kubuntu, I'm not sure it that's relevant. Other related behaviour is that in 8.10, powerdevil hibernates when the battery level is critical, but sometimes it takes longer than expected (ie. "will suspend to disk in ten seconds" disappears, and hibernate doesn't start for another 30). In this case, I sometimes manually hibernate, hoping to avoid completely depleting my battery. The last time I did this, I plugged in before booting, and then booted. immediately after resuming from hibernation, the coputer immediately hibernated again. I Propose these changes to behaviour: - After one task begins a hibernation/sleep/shutdown/reboot process, all subsequent such tasks are immediately cancelled, or not allowed to start. - No hibernation/sleep/shutdown/reboot processes may start within 5 (or 3?) minutes of resuming from sleep or hibernation. This would allow the user to save any documents open before the computer runs the critical battery task (ie. hibernation, or shutdown) ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: New => Confirmed -- Closing lid after telling computer to shut down results in hibernate https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/298902 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 259278] Re: knetworkmanager will no longer connect
Jonathan: There is no info in the bug to indicate it's an API problem. [Bug 259278] Re: knetworkmanager will no longer connect
grahamt: the knetworkmanager in the intrepid repos is a dummy package - it doesn't do anything by itself, it just depends on netowrk-manager-kde (which is knetworkmanager renamed). If you installed from a CD, knetworkmanager shouldn't be installed, and installing it won't change anything (unless network-manager-kde also wasn't installed). If you upgraded, the Hardy knetworkmanager is replaced with the dummy package, which requests that network-manager-kde is installed. In otherwords, if you already had the knetworkmanager program running, then installing the knetworkmanager doesn't make a difference. The only reason that might have fixed your problem, that I can think of, is that network-manager-kde was somehow reconfigured at the same time, however, I tried "sudo dpkg-reconfigure network-manager-kde" and it didn't fix anything for me. -- knetworkmanager will no longer connect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/259278 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 297955] [NEW] crystal icon theme in system settings doesn't work
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kde-icons-crystal If I apply the Crystal SVG icon theme from system settings, it simply doesn't work. the Icons don't show up on plasma, nor in konqueror or dolphin. I'm stuck with the ugly ozone theme. I've tried re-installing the relevant packages, I get nothing.
