[Bug 190751] Re: [hardy] Sometimes GNOME freezes since last updates...

2008-03-03 Thread Dany700
Hi,
sorry for the long time.
I made a memtest on my machine (4 passes) and no problems...
I think the problem is due to GNOME, drivers, or something because aMule can't
freeze the system (runs as normal user...) itself.
If i don't mistake this is a bug that came from a previous update of GNOME, so
i think the bug is in there.
I readed the documentation but there's nothing that should be do in a system
freeze; so if anyone could tell me what to do to...
Thanks.

ilh

[Bug 190686] [NEW] 2.6.24-7 kernel gives many problems

2008-02-10 Thread Dany700
Public bug reported:

New kernel 2.6.24-7, came with the updates, give many problems.
Reboot does not work (and when closing the desktop environment often crashes),
it stops on a black screen with a blinking pointer...
And GNOME seems working slower...
Instead, loading the previous kernel (2.6.24-5) everything works well.
For more info, feel free to ask.

[Bug 190751] Re: [hardy] Sometimes GNOME freezes since last updates...

2008-03-12 Thread Dany700
I still continue to get this bug also with all the latest aMule/gnome updates.
I recognized that only X freezes, because i can use the magic keys; but i don't
know exactly what to do to debug/check the problem.
Could anybody PLEASE give an hand on this?
Thanks in advance
goodbye

[Bug 84780] Re: Partitions are not recognized by installation process

2007-06-03 Thread Dany700
Hi Brian Murray, i am so sorry for the so long delay, but i got frustrating
problems to my internet connection for months! Everything is working now and i
can give more info about this problem.
I didn't tried the smartmontools because i already tried a lot of testing
programs in windows (scandisk, disk doctor, chkdsk, parttion magic, etc...) but
nothing seems to report an hardware failure.. Rather, i think it's an hardware
incompatibility that could be corrected. I'll explain you why i think so:

- the mobo is an old Asus P5A Socket 7 (AMD K6-2 400Mhz)
- the hd is a 160gb maxtor PATA
- bios auto-detecs about 31 or 34gb (it has the last firware: year 2002)

tryng installing other OSes (like windows, or the old mandrake 10.0), they
detect only the bios size but they can install..
insted, ubuntu detecs about 120gb (good thing!) but can't see any formatted
type of space (not even the bios size that works with the other OSes) so i
can't install :(
i thought that ubuntu does not care about the bios when installing, but in this
way, it can't recognize and manage old hardware properly.
Here, i hope i've been clear and i hope to gave you enought info about this
problem, but if you need more explanations feel free to ask everything info you
need!
I thank you again a lot for your availability!

P.S. i've not tried ubu 7.04 yet, however i think my problem hasn't been
corrected.

[Bug 84780] Re: Partitions are not recognized by installation process

2008-07-02 Thread Dany700
I've find out the way to make partitions to be recognized (thanks Jack_Sparrow,
in #ubuntu :))
Just add to the kernel string the parameter all_generic_ide, at the boot.
However i think Ubuntu should be able to recognize when the system is an old
ide-related-issues one, by itself.
So, this is, actually, a bug.

What do you think about? Which files from GParted do you need? Let me know.

[Bug 84780] Re: Partitions are not recognized by installation process

2007-09-11 Thread Dany700
Ok. Sorry, but i must now confirm that the bug really exists. I thought
everything was due to the mobo's limitation, but i've tried using
GParted Live CD (v0.3) and IT RECOGNIZES the partitions! Even if it
can't manage beyond the 32gb (can only create an extended partition
there, but windows 2000 crashes on reboot), however it can see the
partitions that are on the hd. Ubuntu's installer can't, so i
definitively confirm the bug.

[Bug 138920] Re: Matrox Millennium G200 AGP fails 1024x768 resolution

2008-09-11 Thread Dany700
Hi Peter,
first of all thanks for your clear explanation, and sorry for my bad english
but it's not my native language.
I have to say that, yes, the monitor CAN support 1024x768 as i was using that
in Windows. As far as i have understood from your explanation, the problem is
the monitor and i think you're right. The monitor as always been
unrecognizable (Unknown monitor) also by Windows. This issue has always been
known also by the original producer (Olidata) and they said to Ignore/Force
this thing; just setting the monitor as PlugPlay compatible in the monitor's
settings, to make it working properly. A part from this, it always worked fine,
also with 1024x768.
So it'll be very good if there's any way to make it working also in
Linux/Ubuntu at 1024x768.
As far as i have understood the issue can be solved by looking for specs, as
they're not detected by the system automatically.
The monitor is an Olidata MR1502 (15''). But i can't find it's specs over
Google :( Maybe could you try it for me, please?
Can i give you any other useful info in any way? Let me know, feel free to ask.
:)
Thanks again for your support.

[Bug 138920] Re: Matrox Millennium G200 AGP fails 1074x768 resolution

2008-09-04 Thread Dany700
Hi there,
i recently tried the latest GParted Livecd, and i took a look at the screen
resolution: it was 800x600 :-/

I would not that maybe i was mistaking when i said GParted is able to load
1024x768 (and ubuntu's not) :-/
Sorry, i was not sure, simply the screen resolution seemed better than a simple
800x600.
But maybe i was wrong :-/ Is there any way to check out if mga driver can
effectively work at 1024x768, anyway? 'Cause 800x600 is pretty bad :(
Greetings.
