[Bug 64125] Re: BUG: soft lockup detected on CPU#0!

2007-01-09 Thread luna
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 63418 ***

It doesn't happen only with intel wireless chips. I had this message
when booting on an old HP Omnibook XE3 (pentium III-M) for a fresh
install. However, as soon as I removed the PCMCIA D-Link DWL-G650
Wireless card, the system continued to boot.

Same issue here. Two machines upgraded to Focal. unison version is
2.48.4 on both machines. Yet I get the error message as in the bug
description. For recompiling the packages I need some advice how to do
that.

[Bug 1931773] [NEW] ubiquity-frontend-kde: the secure boot configurations are not in the disabled state when "installing third-party drivers" is unselected

2021-06-12 Thread Luna
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Enable secure boot;
2. Open ubiquity kde_ui and go to next screen after the keyboard one.

Observed behavior:
The third-party drivers checkbox is unselected and the secure boot
configuration is not disabled like in ubiquity-frontend-gtk, suggesting that
secure boot should be configured even if the third-party drivers option is
disabled. I tested here and configured the secure boot without checking the
drivers option and ubiquity didn't show any warning.

[Bug 1915598] Re: Use calamares as kubuntu installer

2021-05-20 Thread Luna
Calamares doesn't have an option to leave /boot unencrypted (the way
Kubuntu/Ubiquity does currently), which causes some problems:

https://github.com/calamares/calamares/issues/1311#issue-556802034
https://github.com/calamares/calamares/issues/1311#issuecomment-834167109

An option will be add and the pull request is yet to be made. I think
the switch should happen only after the implementation of this option.

Workaround:

1. Install ubiquity-frontend-gtk;
2. Edit the "Install Kubuntu" shortcut. In the command field, instead of
"ubiquity kde_ui", put "ubiquity gtk_ui".

Done!

Wouldn't switching to Calamares solve this problem?

[Bug 1929369] [NEW] Disk decryption screen has several usability problems

2021-05-23 Thread Luna
Public bug reported:

1. If you press enter (accidentally or not) while typing the password
and start typing again, GRUB will "leak" your password in the screen
while entering GRUB rescue. While decryption is in progress, keyboard
should not register anything aside from keyboard shortcuts.

2. Why just one incorrect attempt makes the GRUB enter in rescue mode?
Three attempts is a standard.

3. There is no message indicating that decrypting is in progress. You if
don't press enter correctly, you won't know if the decryption started or
not. This affects directly problem 1.

4. Password characters doesn't appear in the screen as asterisks while
you typing. This is very useful to check if the system registered two
characters instead of one.

5. Backspace doesn't work.

6. There isn't a blinking underscore to show if the PC is frozen or not.

[Bug 1930122] [NEW] When installing Kubuntu, the password inputs don't appear when choosing "physical volume for encryption"

2021-05-29 Thread Luna
Public bug reported:

Summary:
When installing Kubuntu, the password inputs don't appear when choosing
"physical volume for encryption". After creating the partition, the password
inputs also don't show, making impossible to install Kubuntu with manual
encryption. After a while, an error appears: "unable to create the keyfile".

Steps to reproduce:

1. In the Kubuntu installer, create a partition and choose "physical
volume for encryption".

Expected results:
The password inputs should appear, just like in Ubuntu installer.

[Bug 1926909] [NEW] When decrypting the disk, every keystroke is registered as a character of the password. Even with backspace this happens

2021-05-02 Thread Luna
Public bug reported:

Even Control + Alt + Del doesn't work, the Control is registered as a
character of the password just like backspace. It seems that this can be
triggered by pressing the Fx keys to get the text-based decryption
screen and then going back to the GUI decryption screen. I tested here
in a VM and if I press F1, the text-based screen ppears; if I press F2,
the GUI appears, the F3, the text-based and so on). The only way to
workaround this issue is force rebooting the computer using the physical

[Bug 1926533] [NEW] Please add "KClock" (an official KDE app) to Ubuntu repositories

2021-04-28 Thread Luna
Public bug reported:

Currently, there are KTimer, Kronometer, KAlarm, KTeaTime. If you use
chronometer, alarms and timer, you'll need to install 3 different
programs. Also, the interface of KTimer and KAlarm is not practical to
manage alarms. There is a KDE app made for both Plasma Mobile and Desktop
named KClock: https://invent.kde.org/plasma-mobile/kclock

KClock is very similar to GNOME Clocks: it has regional clocks, timer,
stopwatch and alarms.

[Bug 1926563] [NEW] Include an option to encrypt /boot

2021-04-29 Thread Luna
Public bug reported:

Currently, Ubiquity doesn't have an option to encrypt /boot, which
enhances security (some distros have this by default like KDE Neon and
Manjaro). Encrypting /boot can be done with the command line, though, by
creating the partitions scheme and setting up LVM. However, having this
option in Ubiquity would be handy.

[Bug 150930] Re: Black screen, and bad usplash.conf

2007-10-21 Thread Bruno Luna
I confirm also this bug in my laptop (asus f5r, video card ati Xpress
200M, 1280x800, 60Hz). Same problem as the other guys, that means,
without boot splash screen during start and shutdown of the system, and
also the really slow boot(as mentioned by sirwitti). But I used the same
workaround (usplash.conf set to 1024x768) and executed sudo update-
initramfs -u -k `uname -r`) and everything is working fine now, boot
splash is there and the whole process is much faster! So, I just would
like to thank you guys very much for the help!!! See ya!

[Bug 155711] Re: Gutsy: Black screen on bootup and shutdown

2007-10-22 Thread Bruno Luna
I had the same bug in my Asus Laptop, just look here in the release notes of
ubuntu 7.10 in the ubuntu website, there is a link to a thread where the people
explained some workarounds that, at least for me, worked very well and I dont
have the problem anymore. You basically have to do the following:
1) changed the resolution in /etc/usplash.conf to 1024x768:
   xres=1024
   yres=786
2) executed the following:
sudo update-initramfs -u -k `uname -r`
And everything should work...
good luck!

[Bug 316364] [NEW] Unable to unmaximize window when running on dual monitors

2009-01-12 Thread Daniel Luna
Public bug reported:

When starting Thunderbird(*), it first of all opens on the wrong
monitor (i.e. not the same as last time) (**), but the big problem is
that is is maximized in a very strange way.

It is impossible to unmaximize it (as there is no titlebar I have to use
the right click menu in the bottom of window bar (whatever that is
called)). It is also impossible to move with Alt-mouse, and thirdly
it always places itself as the second window in alt-tab (which means
that it is the first window to be switched to no matter where it
*should* be on the window stack). The screen also blinks madly when
holding Alt-tab with the Thunderbird icon as selected.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10, with a standard gnome setup. Some of my config
files might be from the last version since I did an rsync of my home
directory. Let me know what config files you might need and I will
attach them.

btw. This problem only occurs when running dual monitor (I have one
1600x1024 (external), and one 1024x768 (laptop)). The erroneous window
gets stuck on the laptop monitor, and I have all the menu stuff on the
external monitor. The laptop is logically placed on top of the external
(because of limitations in the graphics card on my laptop).

The problem seems to occur whenever I start Thunderbird when it has had
an unmaximized size that is bigger than the small monitor resolution.

(*) This is probably not a Thunderbird bug, since it has happened at
least once with Firefox. It's only Thunderbird which has this behavior
almost every time though.

(**) This is bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/224845, but my report
is only related. It starts with the same behavior but this report is
about a different problem.

2011-09-04 Thread Diego Luna
You were right, it works perfect in Oneric, and now I can't wait to
October to install it, It's really great. Is there any way to install
the version of dmraid used in Oneric in Natty?, I'd prefer not to
install the beta. Thank you very much for the help.

2010-11-17 Thread Carolina Luna

Good afternoon
Thanks for your response
I will try to be specific, my english is not very good:

I tried to install Ubuntu netbook on my netbook vaio, through a USB bootable,
by installing it asks me to partition the hard drive, and has at least 2GB each
partition, which I could not do.
Somehow, I can have Ubuntu on my netbook, but only usb bootable, and when I try
to reinstall ubuntu, I replied that the computer hard disk is too old? I can
do, how I can successfully reinstall ubuntu netbook??
I wish I could help,
Thanks in advance

RE: [Bug 676610] Re: The installer has failed

2010-11-18 Thread Carolina Luna

Muchas Gracias,
no me interesa seguir guardando windows.

vuelva a tener problemas.

RE: [Bug 676610] Re: The installer has failed

2010-11-18 Thread Carolina Luna

Hola nuevamente!

ext 4, Tamano: 313780 MB, Usado: 5455MB/dev/sda5 Tipo: swap, Tamano: 6293 MB,
Usado 0 MB
no?Y solo quiero tener mi ubuntu y estar tranquila!!
Ojala una vez mas pudieras ayudarme
Gracias de antemano...

Carolina

Si no detecto ningún problema vuelve a hacer 1 y selecciona Probar Ubuntu
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingUbiquity/AttachingLogs

[Bug 1316740] Re: 1106:3106 [Asus P7H55-M/BR] via-rhine kernel module: PHY status 786d, resetting

2014-09-22 Thread Carlos Luna
I have testing and trying to solve or have some workaround, so I add noapic to
the kernel line and this make the net work fine, but after several minutes the
system freezes and disconect keyboard and mouse usb, as well I have tried with
noacpi with the same results, the best result is around 1 hour and half working
well but finally the system freezes.
Maybe to some persons could work add noapic or noacpi to the kernel line.

I have tested to add noapic and noacpi to the kernel line and the VIA-
RHINE card work fine, but after several minutes the system freezes,
first I have got the keyboard and the mouse both usb disconnected and
immediately the system freezes. But I think this workaround could work
for some people.

[Bug 1083565] Re: avahi malfunctions on a machine connected to the network via multiple interfaces

2014-09-22 Thread Carlos Luna
Some one could test if adding noapic or noacpi to the kernel line work
and the net card work fine? as well could some one test installing wicd
and uninstall network-manager to see if this work?

For me adding noacpi or noapic work for the net card but after one hour
more or less the system freezes, disconecting the keyboard and mouse so
I must restart the PC and with wicd I can make this work for me, wicd
does not detect the net card or may be I do not know how to configure
it.

I keep trying to find what the trouble is, so I`ve tested with another
kernels, even 2.6.32 and the trouble is the same, so I think now that
this could be Systemd problem.
