[Bug 89909] Re: slowdown caused by network-admin
As a matter of fact, I do. I think it was possibly a kernel issue. -- slowdown caused by network-admin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89909 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 89909] Re: slowdown caused by network-admin
The problem has occured several times after I posted this. Anyway, it seems that the bug disappeared after a few updates. Sorry for not replying to the message above. It was lost in the various labels of my email inbox, and I read it only now. In any case, this is the output of ifconfig while the PC is connected to the net with the same configuration that used to cause the trouble: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0C:6E:6C:43:71 inet addr:151.100.117.114 Bcast:151.100.117.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 inet6 addr: fe80::20c:6eff:fe6c:4371/64 Scope:Link UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:108166 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:28723 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:7528 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:33911360 (32.3 MiB) TX bytes:5865577 (5.5 MiB) Interrupt:11 Base address:0x6000 loLink encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 inet6 addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:28 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:28 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:2376 (2.3 KiB) TX bytes:2376 (2.3 KiB) Thank you for your kind attention, and sorry again to have missed the reply. -- slowdown caused by network-admin https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/89909 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 89909] slowdown caused by network-admin
Public bug reported: I am testing feisty herd5. when I switched from automatic DNS to a static IP configuration via network-admin, the system had a terrific slowdown. This means like 2minutes to open a terminal on a P4. From top, both CPU and memory had very little load. I rebooted several times, both connected (the net was working, only it took 2 min to open the browser) and disconnected (wire off), but the system was terrific slow (it took very long to open applications, even nautilus). I switched to flwm interface, but it was the same. Finally I switched to automatic DNS again, and now everything is ok. Weirdest behavior ever on my PC. Hope that can help ProblemType: Bug Date: Mon Mar 5 17:51:50 2007 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 7.04 Uname: Linux mlap 2.6.20-9-generic #2 SMP Mon Feb 26 03:01:44 UTC 2007 i686 GNU/Linux ** Affects: Ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- slowdown caused by network-admin https://launchpad.net/bugs/89909 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
