[Bug 992409] [NEW] lm-sensors reports incorrect temperature

2012-04-30 Thread Liam
Public bug reported:

The acpitz virtual device on my laptop reports an incorrect temperature.
This also leads to poor fan control (fan is either on full, or
completely off). I would expect the temperature to be similar to that
from k10temp.

Adapter: Virtual device
temp1: +1.0°C (crit = +105.0°C)

k10temp-pci-00c3
Adapter: PCI adapter

Quick update to my previous update: after rebuilding initrd image with
dmraid & kpartx it's all good, now 3.2.0-24-generic finds the root
partition and loads the OS.

2012-04-30 Thread Mario
Public bug reported:

Was upgrading from 11.10 (which was upgraded from 11.04 and so on going
many, many versions back). Then while upgrading, the computer froze,
then the screen lost its signal, and finally the computer eventually
attempted to reboot it seems. It froze in text mode with some boot up

[Bug 988802] Re: squid3 killed by ABRT signal. assertion failed: disk.cc377: "fd >= 0"

2012-04-30 Thread Amos Jeffries
Upstream bug referenced here is about cache storage failures during
startup/reconfigure. Which seems a bit at odds with resolv.conf loading
errors, although it may be a secondary bug result of the resolv.conf
reconfigure action being successfully triggered very early after
startup.

A stack trace is required to identify and confirm the code path leading
to this crash. To be compared with the traces already available
upstream.

[Bug 939795] Re: package lxc (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-04-30 Thread xlyz
more detailed information on how I installed lxc with a bridge already
configured:

# sudo aptitude install lxc

installation will abort (as in the first post)

edit /etc/default/lxc changing USE_LXC_BRIDGE from true to false.

# sudo aptitude remove lxc && sudo aptitude install lxc

that's it.

(don't forget to set the right bridge in /etx/lxc/lxc.conf )

[Bug 941874] Re: (fakeraid) root device not activated during boot

2012-04-30 Thread apircalabu
Apparently I have a related problem after an upgrade from 11.10 done using
"do-release-upgrade". The troubled server has all the partitions on a software
RAID 1. With the new kernel (3.2.0-24.37) it failed to mount the root
partition, dropping to a busybox shell. After booting the ol kernel I found
there's no dmraid package installed on the server. Installing it also pulled
kpartx-boot as dependency and now I have
/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/kpartx in place. update-initramfs appears to
have generated a bootable initrd this time, but I haven't had the chance to
test it yet.
Also, looking at the initrd images for 3.0.0-16-server and 3.2.0-24-generic I
found there are no dmraid & kpartx related entries in 3.0.0.16 image.
Is it perhaps worth to have dmraid & kpartx-boot as dependencies for a basic
installation? For some reason they were not installed previously. Should I file
a new bug for this? I haven't found anything similar yet.

[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd

2012-04-30 Thread Craig White
adejong@138

Put that entry into /etc/nslcd.conf as you suggested (and as the man
page suggests) and removed my 'host' attribute which should prevent me
from logging into my upgraded 12.04 system but it didn't. (NSCD & NSLCD
running, libnss-ldapd and libpam-ldapd installed & configured)

Obviously I can't expect the pam_check_host_attr in /etc/ldap.conf to
work with this configuration but I did hope that the nslcd.conf would
work and prevent me from being able to login - it didn't. This was after
a reboot so I'm reasonably sure that nothing was cached in nslcd or nscd
that would have impacted.

[Bug 989355] Re: Unable to create Node: timed out

2012-04-30 Thread Mark Furneaux
Julian, I see the same delay in the cobbler log, however it is 27
seconds in my case. There is nothing else running on the system and I
have already run maas-import-isos. I am running this in a VM at the
moment to experiment before I do a real hardware install. The VM has
access to 8 cores and the host OS is idling. According to the cobbler
command, the node is still added though despite the error.

[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd

2012-04-30 Thread Arthur de Jong
You can replace "pam_check_host_attr yes" with
  pam_authz_search
(&(objectClass=posixAccount)(uid=$username)(|(host=$hostname)(host=$fqdn)(host=\\*)))
See the nslcd.conf manual page for more details (the 0.7 series doesn't have
the fqdn value yet).

Btw, you can use libpam-ldap fine together with libnss-ldapd if you
prefer.

Also note that nslcd is no replacement for nscd. nslcd doesn't do much
caching and nscd (or unscd) can still be used to reduce the load on your
LDAP server.

The only real things that are missing in nss-pam-ldapd are nested groups
and LDAP password policies. Patches are welcome ;)

Julian, this is a fresh install maas-servers only. I reinstalled the

one, again the time out error. I do this *after* the maas-import-isos.

[Bug 992128] [NEW] sg_start --readonly has no effect

2012-04-30 Thread Ralf Zozmann
Public bug reported:

Some days ago i updated my old Debian 5 system to new 'Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS'
(as a complete/fresh installation).
In my old installation i used the command 'sg_start --stop /dev/sdd' to spin
down a external harddisk after backup (it's a SATA disk connected via USB).
In 12.04 the command does not work; the drive is spinning up immediately after
a short click indicating a spin down. This problem seems to be related to

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=561876

and

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hdparm/+bug/388506

The common solution is to access the drive in a read only mode to
prevent change events triggered by udev. But modifiying my command to:
'sg_start --readonly --stop /dev/sdd' has no effect, the drive keeps in
spin up state.

[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP+SSL breaks setuid applications like su, sudo, apache2 suexec, and atd

2012-04-30 Thread Craig White
See here's the deal...

Yes, the problem seems to occur with starttls being enabled but given
the choice...

- libnss-ldap
- libpam-ldap
- nscd

or

- libnss-ldapd
- libpam-ldapd
- nslcd

The first one fails if starttls is used to connect to the ldap server
The second one fails to respect 'pam_check_host_attr yes' setting

So I have problems no matter what I do. It's time for Ubuntu to clean
this up as I was able to function w/ Lucid (libnss-ldap/libpam-
ldap/nscd) but have only 2 lousy choices in Precise

- I re-up date the system, reboot the machine, added new node but nothing
+ I re-update the system, rebooted the machine, added new node but nothing
  changed...
+
+ I also deleted the old ephemeral images:
+
+ rm -rf /var/lib/maas/ephemeral/precise/ephemeral/amd64/20120418/
+ rm -rf /var/lib/maas/ephemeral/precise/ephemeral/i386/20120418/
+
+ So now,i'm working with the latest ephemeral available: 20120424

By the way, Francis J. Lacoste (flacoste) suggested to set
'STREAM=daily' in /etc/maas/import_ephemerals but apparently there is
no daily ephemeral build, this path is empty

[Bug 992075] [NEW] Commissioning status persists with cloud-init 0.6.3-0ubuntu1

2012-04-30 Thread Han-sebastien
Public bug reported:

Hi guys,

I've been through this issue
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/maas/+bug/981845
I followed the instruction of the comment #2 but the new version of cloud-init
didn't solve my issue.

I'm running 12.04 final release and up to date. (apt-get update && apt-
get upgrade)

The disk image:

root@ubuntu:/home# mount
/var/lib/maas/ephemeral/precise/ephemeral/amd64/20120418/disk.img /mnt/
root@ubuntu:/home# chroot /mnt/
root@ubuntu:/# dpkg -l | grep cloud-init
ii cloud-init 0.6.3-0ubuntu1 Init scripts
for cloud instances

MAAS version:

root@ubuntu:/home# dpkg -l | grep maas
ii maas0.1+bzr482+dfsg-0ubuntu1 Ubuntu MAAS
Server
ii maas-provision 2.2.2-0ubuntu4 Install
server
ii maas-provision-common 2.2.2-0ubuntu4 Cobbler
Install server - common files
ii python-django-maas 0.1+bzr482+dfsg-0ubuntu1 Ubuntu MAAS
Server - (django files)
ii python-maas-provision 2.2.2-0ubuntu4 Install
server - python libraries.

I re-up date the system, reboot the machine, added new node but nothing
changed...

By the way, Francis J. Lacoste (flacoste) suggested to set
'STREAM=daily' in /etc/maas/import_ephemerals but apparently there is
no daily ephemeral build, this path is empty
https://maas.ubuntu.com/images/ephemeral/daily/precise/.

Thank you in advance :)

You may want to try setting the cipher to use, as the issue seems to be
with a too-large header for some servers to handle.

http://php.net/manual/en/context.ssl.php

You can test what ciphers work with:

openssl s_client -connect server:port -cipher x

I'd recommend 'AES256' or 'AES128'

a) Wietse doesn't release patch releases to Postfix unless necessary

[Bug 991818] Re: package nis 3.17-31ubuntu0.10.04.3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-04-30 Thread Javier Oliver
I mean, I tried to install Adobe Flash player, but the installation
failed and the installer recommended me to do: sudo apt-get install -f,
and sudo dpkg --configure -a, which also failed because of the nis.

I tried to update the nis, but no luck.

Can anybody tell me what can I do? I am not good in linux... sorry.

[Bug 592442] Re: fopen fails on some SSL urls

2012-04-30 Thread chrone
i'm having the same problem here after upgrade from 11.10, my web server
could not set email using curl and google mail smtp.

i guess the culprit is either between php5-curl, curl, and openssl. :(

is there a way to downgrade each curl and openssl version but still
running on ubuntu 12.04 until this bug is fixed?

here's the apache error log:
PHP Warning: file_get_contents(): SSL operation failed with code 1. OpenSSL
Error messages:\nerror:14094410:SSL routines:SSL3_READ_BYTES:sslv3 alert

[Bug 991702] Re: package nagios3-common 3.2.3-3ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2012-04-30 Thread James Page
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug in Ubuntu.

It looks like your Nagios configuration files where missing prior to the
upgrade (see log entries in #2 and #3).

As a result the upgrade could not complete successfully for these
packages.

Please either restore you original configuration files or restore the
default configuration:

apt-get download nagios3-common
sudo dpkg --force-confmiss -i nagions3-common*.deb

You should then be able to complete your upgrade by running:

   sudo apt-get -f install

Thanks
