[Bug 1393548] [NEW] libvirt's apparmor profile denies access to sgabios.bin
Public bug reported: Attempting to use the sgabios ROM to capture early boot BIOS messages on the serial console. Typically this can be done via libvirt domain configuration: Resulting in the qemu process being launched with a '-device sga' argument that should load the optional ROM. The sgabios package installs the ROM @ /usr/share/misc/sgabios.bin and symlinks to it from /usr/share/qemu/sgabios.bin I noticed the expected serial output was missing and found that apparmor is preventing sgabios from loading when spawning the VM: [ 1378.106921] type=1400 audit(1416255684.049:23): apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" profile="libvirt-c08c4756-2e2c-4c62-a519-0e3ac0cf643d" name="/usr/share/misc/sgabios.bin" pid=13182 comm="qemu-system-x86" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=110 ouid=0 Worked around by manually installing the sgabios.bin file directly to /usr/share/qemu/sgabios.bin ** Affects: libvirt (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1393548 Title: libvirt's apparmor profile denies access to sgabios.bin To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/1393548/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

Was able to test the proposed package and verify the issue is resolved. Test: 1) - Boot a fresh trusty VM using libvirt - Install cloud-init - Reboot SUCCESS 2) - Shutdown - Using libvirt, add a serial device / pty to the domain - Boot same VM FAIL (boot hangs) - Shutdown - Remove serial device - Boot same VM, boot succeeds - Install proposed cloud-init 0.7.5-0ubuntu1.1 - Repeat boot with and without serial port attached and boot succeeds in both case. [Bug 1262788] Verification report.
Please find the attached test log from the Ubuntu Server Team's CI infrastructure. As part of the verification process for this bug, the OpenStack components have been deployed and configured across multiple nodes using saucy-proposed as an installation source. After successful bring-up and configuration of the cluster, a number of exercises and smoke tests have be invoked to ensure the updated package did not introduce any regressions. A number of test iterations were carried out to catch any possible transient errors. These proposed packages were deployed and tested in several different configurations. Attached are tarballs with various test logs from each configuration. In addition to the base components, variables in deployments include: saucy_havana_nova-network: - nova-network (FlatDHCP) - glance (Ceph backend) - cinder (Ceph backend) saucy_havana_iscsi: - nova-network (FlatDHCP) - glance (local backend) - cinder (iSCSI backend) saucy_havana_neutron: - neutron (OVS plugin) - glance (Ceph backend) - cinder (Ceph backend) Please note the versions_tested file in each tarball, which contains details about relevant package versions installed and tested. For records of upstream test coverage of this update, please see the individual bug reports. [Bug 1241202] Verification report.
Please find the attached test log from the Ubuntu Server Team's CI infrastructure. As part of the verification process for this bug, the OpenStack components have been deployed and configured across multiple nodes using raring-proposed as an installation source. In addition to the base components, variables in deployments include: raring_grizzly_nova-network: - nova-network (FlatDHCP) - glance (Ceph backend) - cinder (Ceph backend) raring_grizzly_iscsi: - nova-network (FlatDHCP) - glance (local backend) - cinder (iSCSI backend) raring_grizzly_quantum: - quantum (OVS plugin) - glance (Ceph backend) - nova-volume (Ceph backend) Please note the versions_tested file in each tarball, which contains details about relevant package versions installed and tested. For records of upstream test coverage of this update, please see the individual bug reports. As per the provisional Micro Release Exception granted to this package by the Technical Board, we hope this contributes toward verification of this update. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241202 Title: Meta bug for tracking Openstack 2013.1.4 Stable Update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1241202/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1210253] Re: With Havana 2 installed, Launching horizon UI results in the error " NameError: name 'Dashboard' is not defined"
Just tested with a fresh system and fresh package installation from the Cloud Archive Havana proposed pocket. Installed horizon 1:2013.2~rc1-0ubuntu2~cloud0 (havana release candidate) and everything is working fine. Steps to do minimal test: apt-get install openstack-dashboard edit /etc/openstack-dashboard/local_settings.py, update OPENSTACK_HOST to point to your keystone hostname. restart apache2, surf to http://$host/horizon, login. Be sure you're using the most recent package version. [Bug 1210447] Verification report.
Please find the attached test log from the Ubuntu Server Team's CI infrastructure. As part of the verification process for this bug, the OpenStack components have been deployed and configured across multiple nodes using raring-proposed as an installation source. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1210447 Title: Meta bug for tracking Openstack 2013.1.3 Stable Update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1210447/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Blueprint servercloud-s-openstack-charms] OpenStack Charm work for Saucy/Havana
Blueprint changed by Adam Gandelman: Whiteboard changed: User stories: John is maintaining some openstack juju charms. When he wants to push a change affecting multiple charms, he does not want to duplicate his work across bash and shell. Mike wants to ensure deploying specific configuration of OpenStack is supported and tested. Bob from Bob's Super Storage Systems Inc wants to easily deploy his cinder plugin alongside our Juju charms without making changes to the cinder charm itself. Risks: - Charm changes break backward comparability with existing upstream - charms. + Charm changes break backward comparability with existing upstream charms. + Network configuration being added to charms may conflict with future work in MAAS/Juju wrt network abstraction. + Test Plan: Implement some automated integration testing on all charm changes, as specified in WIs. [Bug 1214982] Re: Ubuntu theme in Havana is broken
First, it looks like the traceback in the original report is using a different configuration than the default we ship. We ship with COMPRESS_OFFLINE = True, but by the looks of the traceback it was enabled. Would be interested in the configs used there. That said, the default saucy package we're shipping atm is definitely broken. The ubuntu theme, however, is not culprit. It is "good" although the theme itself could use a general refresh for Havana. Installing it currently requires working around Bug #1218535 and Bug #1216019. After installed and enabled and making the minimal config in /etc /openstack-dashboard/local_settings.py to point to my keystone server, the dashboard is expected to function. However, I get a 500 and compression exception in apache error log: OfflineGenerationError: You have offline compression enabled but key "3ddd89d27fa2e162d4efd30c103a072b" is missing from offline manifest. You may need to run "python manage.py compress". This would typically mean the pre-compressed JS and CSS we ship with the package are outdated but in this case django.core.base:BaseHandler is catching and masking a SuspiciousOperation exception (Invalid HTTP_HOST header (you may need to set ALLOWED_HOSTS) and continuing to process the request. As far as I can tell (as a django novice), this is causing templates to later be rendered with empty/incomplete contexts that lack STATIC_URL, and messing with the hashing algorithm used by compressor to map requested URLs to the compressed files, which results in the OfflineGenerationError / key error. As a work around in the meantime, adding ALLOWED_HOSTS = '*' to /etc /openstack-dashboard/local_settings.py should resolve it. We either need to find a sane default for ALLOWED_HOSTS or help fix horizon so such errors cause fast failures. ** Summary changed: - Ubuntu theme in Havana is broken + STATIC_URL is missing in context if ALLOWED_HOSTS not set. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to horizon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1214982 Title: STATIC_URL is missing in context if ALLOWED_HOSTS not set. [Bug 1218535] [NEW] openstack-dashboard no longer installs a functioning webserver
Public bug reported: Previously, installing openstack-dashboard would install an apache2 server (if required) and configure and add a configuration entry for the dashboard. Using saucy, this is no longer the case. apache2-bin is installed, but there is no server running, nothing listening on port 80, and only the minimal required apache config installed in /etc/apache2: ./conf.d ./conf.d/openstack-dashboard.conf ./mods-available ./mods-available/wsgi.conf ./mods-available/wsgi.load ** Affects: horizon (Ubuntu) Importance: High Status: New ** Affects: horizon (Ubuntu Saucy) Importance: High Status: New ** Also affects: horizon (Ubuntu Saucy) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: horizon (Ubuntu Saucy) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to horizon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218535 Title: openstack-dashboard no longer installs a functioning webserver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/horizon/+bug/1218535/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1218459] [NEW] nova-compute-kvm does not function without manually loading kvm module
Public bug reported: Note: This bug affects the precise-havana Ubuntu Cloud Archive pocket only. In saucy (and Havana UCA), changes were introduced to the qemu package that modified how the CPU-specific kvm-intel/kvm-amd get loaded at package installation time. Where it was previously modprobe'd from a maintainer script, it now relies on entirely on udev and modalias magic to automatically load the correct kvm-* module for the current CPU at boot. This works fine in Saucy, however this all depends on 3.5+ kernels. When using the UCA on precise with the default 3.2, we end up needing to manually load the kvm_intel module before nova-compute-kvm+libvirt can do anything useful. Short of back-porting a newer kernel to UCA, it was proposed that we carry a small delta in the qemu package that reinstates the previous module loading. ** Affects: cloud-archive Importance: Critical Status: New ** Affects: nova (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Affects: qemu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Invalid ** Also affects: cloud-archive Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: qemu (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: cloud-archive Importance: Undecided => Critical ** Changed in: nova (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: qemu (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1218459 Title: nova-compute-kvm does not function without manually loading kvm module To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/cloud-archive/+bug/1218459/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

If a user wishes to run nova-compute using one of the drivers that directly offloads compute tasks to an external resource (VMware, oVirt, etc), they'll install 'nova-compute' (and libvirt-bin, qemu-kvm, etc.) I propose it would make sense to include a package (nova-compute-minimal?) that depends on nova-common + python-nova and installs only the minimum, eg: an upstart job and an empty /etc/nova /nova-compute.conf. ** Affects: nova (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to nova in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1207930 Title: nova should provide a nova-compute-minimal (or similar)package To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nova/+bug/1207930/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
