[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 129041] Re: xterm icon available by default

2011-08-04 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Since the default session is unity, which doesn't have a menu as classic
GNOME, I'm inclined to close this bug as 'opinion' rather than implement
'NoDisplay', as the package in oneiric does install .desktop files by
default.

The rationale is that apart from Ubuntu/Xubuntu, the other variants
don't seem to include xterm by default, so if people install it they
most likely want to see the app in the desktop menu as well..

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 829334] Re: Xorg doesn't start after the update

2011-08-22 Thread Timo Aaltonen
We don't support hand-installed upstream drivers. Ubuntu provides a
driver version for Nvidia, and it's the only version that's supported.

When you install the vendor driver by hand, the installation script
builds the module for the current kernel ABI version, so you need to
build a version for the new update. Or just purge the driver and use
what Ubuntu provides (with automatic kernel module builds etc).

2011-08-23 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Can you boot with 'drm.debug=0x06' added to the kernel cmdline (edit it
via the grub menu), and attach the dmesg output here. I assume that the
virtual terminals don't work either, so you probably need to install
'openssh-server' too and connect to the machine via ssh to get the logs.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 828893] Re: left mouse button ignored

2011-09-07 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hmm, it should've added a lot more to the bug.. You should then attach
/var/log/Xorg.0.log manually, and check the mouse device from 'xinput
list' and run 'xinput list-props id xinput.txt', and attach
xinput.txt as well.

this might be something in the session breaking it.. you could also try
with a fresh user account if it can be reproduced.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 820370] Re: Tries and fails to remove /etc/gdm

2011-09-09 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Scott, I've just uploaded a new version of xorg (which builds
x11-common), could you verify if you have /etc/gdm left after the
update? I hope it'll get removed on upgrade now that there are no
conffiles left in the directory.

Otherwise the x11-common.preinst script would need changing, and it's a
bit scary to remove the dir and make sure it's not used etc..

Picard works for me with the ppa _if_ I first move the old config away.
With it, it'll start in fullscreen mode and works fine until I put it in
windowed mode. Then I need to kill picard, which results in compiz
crashing and needing a restart. Haven't been able to reproduce it with a
clean config.

I've attached the config (sanitized the paths, removed my musicbrainz
login info), if you want to figure out what happens there..
