RE: installation prerequisites
Hi Sharu, If you are only looking to try out trafodion from an end-user perspective, you can try the sandbox that Amanda created recently. You can find the details in this March archive http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-trafodion-user/201603.mbox/browser under the topic “Trafodion 1.3 Sandbox” Note that this sandbox is based on Hortonworks 2.2 not CDH, if that will work for you. Re: installation prerequisites
Hi Sharu, I think you can install CDH 5.3 on a supported Linux version (RHEL or CentOS 6.x) directly, rather than a VM. Trafodion doesn' run on Windows. The VM and the asssocated helpers in the instructions are there to make it easier. Once you've got Trafodion installed, there are various things you can do with it - see the quickstart page at http://trafodion.apache.org/quickstart.html and feel free to make suggestions or contributions as you discover things that could be done differently to make it easier! Hello Sharu, I don’t know if you are trying to install Trafodion binaries to use it as a user, or trying to build Trafodion code to contribute features, fixes etc. If the second option, then follow the “contribute” tab on Trafodion web site. The build environment include a local version of Hadoop, you should not have to worry about getting it from cloudera. The build environment setup will take care of installing a one node full setup of all Hadoop component needed, good enough for development, Welcome to the Trafodion community, Eric *From:* Sharu Gupta [mailto:gupta.sh...@gmail.com] *Sent:* Friday, April 1, 2016 2:59 PM *To:* user@trafodion.incubator.apache.org *Subject:* Re: installation prerequisites Thank you for your reply. Yes, you could build the code yourself and then create a tar ball to install.
