I now have Open Office on my Window 10 Desktop. I have not been able to open
documents that I already had. I get a boxes that ask me for Character Set
(regions, I’ve tried changing to some that might work, but haven’t had any luck
yet.), The whole box is titled ASCII Filter Options. Default fonts on Times
New Roman. Language – English (USA) Paragraph break CR & LF. Other options
CR or LF. I have used Open Office before and have never run into this problem.

Can you tell me what I need to do to open a document.

Try renaming your OO user profile.

If you are using Windows close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File
Explorer. Copy and paste %appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer (sometimes
called Windows Explorer)
Address Bar and press Enter. Rename the "user" folder - "user.old" is a good
choice. Start OpenOffice.

This cures most spellcheck problems.

Hello,
I use Apache Open Office and would like to insert the file/path into the

other, file name (type), path/file name (format) and insert. When I do this I
don’t get the path and file name – all I get is “path/file name” added but
that’s not what I need. How do I add the proper file name of my document that I
just typed?

Thanks so much.

It appears that you are having no difficulty downloading the
installation file and as "a veteran user of open office" you are no
doubt downloading Apache OpenOffice from the official source:

Apache OpenOffice.

If the install fails, it is likely to be a local issue with the computer
configuration. Substantial pre-release testing of version 4.1.3 was
performed on a number of Windows 10 computers. Apache OpenOffice has
been downloaded by just under four million users this month, a large
proportion of which will have been installed on Windows 10 computers,
with very few problems being reported.

Hope this helps.

You could tell your email provider to filter specific emails

and for all those which meet the specific criteria,
you could then suggest that they get placed
either in the spam folder, or in the trash.

I hope with the myriad of difficulties, someone will write a book.

I wanted to use OpenOffice to paste everything before printing
but some kind person suggested I (not me specifically) download Adobe PDF
reader.
That was a great help. I don't know exactly who to thank.
You see, when you upgrade to Windows 10
there are programs that are removed,
and one of them, I believe was Adobe PDF reader.
The Adobe PDF reader allows you to print the PDF with odd numbered or even
numbered pages.
That's a big help.
And it's free.

I'm just guessing now. When you have the current program that is telling you
that the same program is also running, try going to the upper right hand corner

Once the current screen is diminished, then anything that was working in the

Subject: Custom number format code problem

Greetings,

AOO 4.1.2 on Slackware Linux 14.0 (K3.10.17).

I seem to be having a problem with a custom number format in Writer
table cells in a template. What I want is to display 2 digits to the
right of the decimal point if the value's third digit and beyond is zero
and 3 digits if the value's third digit is non zero. Examples:
 Value Display Result
 123.45 > 123.45
 123.456 > 123.456
 123.4562 > 123.456
I am using the following format code to do this:

[$$-409]#,##0.00#;[RED]-[$$-409]#,##0.00#

This format code works as long as I do not change the document's
template (update). When I open the document again, I get the message
that the template has changed and when I update the template, the format
in the document returns to:

[$$-409]#,##0.000;[RED]-[$$-409]#,##0.000

The root problem seems to be in the template save. When I change the
template format code to .00# and save it with the save icon, the next
time I open or use the template, it has reverted back to .000. I
re-read the help on custom format codes and it confirms that what I am
doing is supposed to work. In fact, it is one of the examples.

Is there something I need to do to make this format code sticky in the
template or is this a bug?

Thanks.
Girvin Herr
