re: IPhone 5s, Very Strange

2014-11-02 Thread Vicky Collins
I get the same thing with my iPhone 6 plus when I use siri, but
not when I open the message app and send manually or with
dictation. This just started with iOS 8. It happens with my
contacts who either don't have an iPhone, or have one and have
cellular data turned off. I do have the option to send as SMS
when iMessage is unavailable turned on; and, when I go into the
message app after using siri and get that failure notice, I see
that the message has indeed been sent, something always later
confirmed by the recipient.

Subject: IPhone 5s, Very Strange

Hi friends,

Just noticed something very strange, when I use SIRI and say text
and the name of a contact, it goes through the process fine and I
send the message but it comes back with a message send failure.
When I open the failure text message, it seems to be trying to
send an IMessage even though the recipient is not an IPhone, so
confused, sure I am doing something very simple wrong, does
anyone have any ideas?
This has only been an issue since IOS but that could be totally
unrelated.

RE: IPhone 5s, Very Strange

2014-10-31 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Are you sure they don’t have an iPhone and maybe iMessage is disabled? Also,
make sure you are sending to their mobile number and not to their email
address. If they had, for example, an iPad, they might have iMessage enabled
using their Apple Id email address and for some reason the message might fail.

I would also try to text that person by entering the number manually, then when
you are in the edit field where you type your text, see if Voiceover says if it
is an imessage or text message. Lastly, check under Settings, Messages and make
sure you turn on to send as a regular SMS if iMessage is not available then
your message should go either way.

Regards,

Sieghard
