[Wikidata] Twitter search is spammed

I sometimes search Twitter for the word "Wikidata" to get updates beyond 
this mailing list. The past couple of times I have experienced that a 
considerable part of the posts are from fake accounts issueing more or 
less the same post "The file numbers are also being added to Wikipedia 
biographical articles and are incorporated into Wikidata." I tried to 
report and block these posts but find that it really doesn't help.


Are there any others that have tried to block these accounts and posts? 
I imaging it might help. Or is Twitter going down?

Yes.  Exactly.  I'm 100% with you.  Yet Wikidata supports a 1:1 relationship 
between a Wikipedia article and a Wikidata item.  In this task/discussion I'd 
like to advocate for making that relationship more flexible so that it can 
account for some of the nuanced correspondences between WikiData items 
(concepts) and Wikipedia articles.

This is about changing the exiting UI. Currently there is a race conditions in 
the UI for editing an item value in a statement. After typing but before the 
PropertySuggester shows its item suggestions, ESC cancels the edit. If the 
PropertySuggester shows, ESC only closes the property suggester. The current 
behavior is different depending on latency. Making the UI more predictable has 
the nice effect of allowing us to easily make a non-flaky browser test.

[Wikidata] "Presenting Wikidata knowledge" article

I wrote an article about the Wikidata API for the Web APIs hub [1], which
encourages third-party developers to use Wikimedia data and APIS, <

It shows Maxime Lathuilière's inventaire.io as it talks about associating
Wikidata entity IDs with your app and showing data. I welcome any feedback,
or you can fix obvious misteaks. Cast your mind back before you knew how to
make Wikidata API request. Would this have helped you? What's missing?

In the article "Presenting Wikidata knowledge" [1], I've Been a bit Bold
and specified a recipe:

1. Find existing interesting wiki pages in the domain of your application.
2. View the Wikidata information for those pages, choose interesting
properties.
3. Associate Wikidata entity IDs with entities of your application.
4. Display their Wikidata information in the user's language.
5. Use the Wikidata "sitelinks" information about the item to provide links
to the full Wikipedia (and Wikiquote, Wikivoyage, etc.) article about the
entity in the user's language.

But I realize for something like a reference app there won't be Wikidata
items for every entity in your app for step 3: not every book in print has
a Wikidata item, nor does every musical recording, etc. For those there are
already identifiers such as ISBNs and "MusicBrainz release group ID"s (mmm,
brains). I assume reference app developers already use these more complete
identifiers and so I'm inviting them to add Wikidata entity IDs where
available.

I think these other identifiers are all "Wikidata property representing a
unique identifier" and there are about 350 of them [2] But surprisingly, I
couldn't find an easy way to look up a Wikidata item using these other
identifiers.

I found you can do it one-by-one in Wikidata Query [3] and in Wikidata
Query Serivce [4] but neither seems amenable to doing a query on the fly
"Get me the Wikidata item for each of these 100 ISBNs "2-7071-1620-3", ...

Also, is this a temporary thing? Will Wikidata eventually have items for
every book published, every musical recording, etc. and become a superset
of all those unique identifiers?

TASK DESCRIPTION
  1. Go to https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q428581 (Possession book)
  2. at the bottom of Statements, click [add]
  3. choose publication date, enter 1990
  4. click [add reference]
  
  Result: nothing happens  (is it a bug that the UI doesn't show any error?). 
If you look in developer console, there's an error "Error: Required option not 
specified properly".
  
  I found from `?debug=1` that the error is in jquery.wikibase.referenceview.js 
line 93 because `this.options.statementGuid` is null. It happens in Firefox and 
chromium.
  
  Maybe I'm meant to save the statement first? But if I click Save, I get
TypeError: edittoolbar is undefined
 btnSave = edittoolbar.getButton( 'save' ),
 referenceview.js (line 73, col 5)
  and again, no error shown to user.

I could reproduce the problem by following the steps in this ticket. When I 
press save after step 3, I can save the statement without problems. Saving 
doesn't work after I click add references (which shows no possibility to add a 
reference) and click save.

At least in sparql, this would be easy to do:

Unless I misunderstand what you mean here.
