We're in code-freeze now, getting ready for a new STABLE release within the next two weeks or so. Please take a look at the language files in the xastir/config/ directory to see if any strings need translation. Other than that one exception, these are the rules until we push out the 'Stable' release: *) Do not commit patches which add new enhancements. *) Only commit bug-fix patches. We'll let the code settle for a week or two, then I'll ask for a go/no-go vote. If people are reasonably happy with the stability, we'll push the 'stable' out the door and lift the code-freeze. Consider updating to the latest CVS 'HEAD' version and putting it through its paces, plus report bugs quickly so we can get them fixed. Various Linux distributions will be picking it up, so the more stable we can make the codebase, the better. As I said, I just updated successfully for the first time just tonight. So this will be the second time and it should go fine from here on out. Since it took the 1.9.4.3 to 1.9.9 using the update-xastir file, I expect all is there. Go have fun with those boys and thanks. I will run the update after a week has gone by. I tried using the binary version after trying the MacPorts route, which consisted of installing the dependencies (except for lib db45), but still had the same behavior of an immediate closure after trying to open Xastir. Re: [Xastir] Mac OSX errors
Then, obviously, I am incorrect. I seem to recall there is a problem with Macports installing db45- one must use an older version I believe. Macports doesn't want to do it on 10.6. After trying to build it all from source, mainly without a good instruction set- what most linux/command line nerds seem to enjoy is watching newbies such as myself struggle with substandard instructions and then snarky comments when you ask a question; I gave up and used the binary. Not sure how to make it work other than to knock out the file Jeremy suggested, make sure the binary is in Applications and go from there. You may need to find the hidden .xastir file- so check out how to do that in the finder and you will be good as gold. Hopefully. -Chase W4TI On Mon, Oct 4, 2010 at 9:24 PM, Nikita Bogdanov nikita_bogda...@yahoo.comwrote: I tried using the binary version after trying the MacPorts route, which consisted of installing the dependencies (except for lib db45), but still had the same behavior of an immediate closure after trying to open Xastir.
