[xmail] Re: Send 'delivery failed' report to 'From' address?

2007-02-06 Thread CLEMENT Francis

As xmail is a MTA, it don't care about the mail content itself and its
headers, it only take the delivery info from the smtp session, so the
'error-report' email will be the smtp sender (MAIL FROM)

You have two simple choices (not exhaustive):

1 - Use the 'Mail From' address as the 'MAIL FROM' (smtp)
Effectively your server can be banned or rejected by many servers =
running
anti-spam software doing checks like spf, sender-id, reverse mx checks, =

2 - If the MailFrom sender email don't change on each sent mail =
(mailing ?),
create a special account (a real account or a cmd account) owned on =
your
server like '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' (or on a special domain to avoid
confusion with your domain), setup this special account to redirect to =
the
real MailFrom sender (method depends of real or cmd account, see xmail =
doc)
and ask your friend to use it as the MAIL FROM sender.=20

[xmail] Send 'delivery failed' report to 'From' address?

2007-02-06 Thread Ivo Smits
I have a website of a friend running on my server. People often register
with incorrect(?) e-mail adresses. I ('MAIL FROM' address) get the failure
report and the website ower ('From' address) gets nothing. The e-mail header
looks like this:
Received: from /spool/local
by UFO-Net.nl with [XMail 1.24 LMAIL Server]
for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> from <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>;
Sun, 4 Feb 2007 11:26:00 +0100
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Subject: example
From:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
X-Mailer: PHP/5.2.0-8
Date: Sun, 4 Feb 2007 11:25:59 +0100

Is it possible to deliver the report to the 'From' address? (I think
changing the MAIL FROM address is not an option, since at least gmail and
hotmail would reject my email).

[xmail] Xmail MX search

2007-02-06 Thread Brian
Is there a way to force Xmail to us MX record searches instead of
realizing a domain is on it's local machine?

I have my xmail server as the primary for domain A and want to make it
the secondary for domain B.

Currently though XMail looks and say hey Domain B is on this local
server so I'll just send it without looking up the MX record.

Any config options that will force it to use DNS?
