I do not see that NodeMangers have this set up as I read [comments|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-1590?focusedCommentId=13890374&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-13890374] in YARN-1590, slaves do not need this. Given above point is considered, I also see an issue in collector service login in non-auxillary service mode. It always tries to replaces with an bind-host which is wrong. {code} private void doSecureLogin() throws IOException { Configuration conf = getConfig(); InetSocketAddress addr = NetUtils.createSocketAddr(conf.getTrimmed( YarnConfiguration.TIMELINE_SERVICE_BIND_HOST, YarnConfiguration.DEFAULT_TIMELINE_SERVICE_BIND_HOST), 0, YarnConfiguration.TIMELINE_SERVICE_BIND_HOST); SecurityUtil.login(conf, YarnConfiguration.TIMELINE_SERVICE_KEYTAB, YarnConfiguration.TIMELINE_SERVICE_PRINCIPAL, addr.getHostName()); } {code} This is high time to defines new set of configurations for reader and collector service. One of the most interesting use case for this is even though timeline service version is set to 2, some of the downstream projects(HIVE, TEZ) who were writing into v1.5 without knowledge of applicationId will continue to use of ATS v1.5 by overriding timeline.version from client. So basically TimelineReader and TimelineService can be started at same time. *But current configurations do not allow to start both TimelineServer and TimelineReader at same time*. This makes us very strong reason to have new set of configurations for reader and writers. > [Atsv2] Remove timeline.service.address dependency for starting Timeline > Reader in secure mode > --- > > Key: YARN-7662 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-7662 > Project: Hadoop YARN > Issue Type: Bug >Reporter: Rohith Sharma K S >Assignee: Rohith Sharma K S > Attachments: YARN-7662.01.patch, YARN-7662.01.patch > > > While starting Timeline Reader in secure mode, login happens using > timeline.service.address even though timeline.service.bindhost is configured > with 0.0.0.0. Looks fine to me as its similar in case of NodeManager principal also. > [Atsv2] Remove timeline.service.address dependency for starting Timeline > Reader in secure mode > --- > > Key: YARN-7662 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-7662 > Project: Hadoop YARN > Issue Type: Bug >Reporter: Rohith Sharma K S >Assignee: Rohith Sharma K S > Attachments: YARN-7662.01.patch, YARN-7662.01.patch > > > While starting Timeline Reader in secure mode, login happens using > timeline.service.address even though timeline.service.bindhost is configured > with 0.0.0.0. This causes exact principal name that matches address name to > be present in keytabs. > It is always better to login using getLocalHost that gives machine hostname > which is configured in /etc/hosts unlike NodeManager does in serviceStart. > And timeline.service.address is not required in non-secure mode, so its > better to keep consistent in secure and non-secure mode -- This message was sent by Atlassian JIRA (v6.4.14#64029) - To unsubscribe, e-mail: yarn-issues-unsubscr...@hadoop.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: yarn-issues-h...@hadoop.apache.org
