I stopped by Dryden lake around 530 and had very good looks at common
loons, horned grebes, a pied billed grebe, and buffleheads A great
blue flew over.

We still have at least 10 here in Caroline Center. Also today our FOS
Purple Finch.

Two VESPER SPARROWS are currently foraging with Song Sparrows at the far
end of the far parking lot of the Lab of Ornithology. They were along the
road north of Kip's Barn just before that.

Two male PURPLE FINCH just showed up. Also, forgot to mention that one
of "Ann Mitchell's" REDPOLLS is still here.
In my excitement in my post a few minutes earlier, I typed White-CROWNED
Sparrow. Obviously it was White-THROATED!!

We have been having many DARK-EYED JUNCOS for some time now (they love
the white millet that we spread on the ground!!). With the southerly
winds of a couple days ago, I was certain they would be moving on. My
suspicion seemed to be confirmed, as for most of the day yesterday we
had many fewe

Hi all,
I'm flying to South Carolina today, and I've been trying to figure out
whether I can get away with having my tripod in my carry-on. The TSA site
is not very specific about this. If it makes a difference, I'm flying out
of JFK.
If anybody has any experiences or information they could share
