After a very successful late winter raptor tour (March 25-28) with my
Godfather from Venezuela, he's eager to make it back and try to photograph
a few raptors in nesting behavior.

Following up on an eBird report this morning of a Swallow-tailed Kite flying
over I-25 n of Wellington, I went on a wild kite chase late this morning and
afternoon. I did NOT find a Swallow-tailed Kite. At Hamilton Reservoir:1 FOY
Bonaparte's Gull in basic plumage1 FOY Turkey Vulturegood assortm
I was fortunate to have several nice birds in an afternoon jaunt around Weld
county today.
At a pond off of County Road 26 just west of County Road 17 I had a female
BARROW'S GOLDENEYE. This pond is part of the Saint Vrain Sanitation District
and can be viewed from CR 26.

I saw my FOY Say's Phoebe yesterday hawking insects from the fence line at
the pdog colony (N Table Mt Park) 1 block from my house! I am hoping it is
one of my pair that fledged 7 young last year in a box under my eaves!

For those tracking lateness of the redpoll invasion... had 5 males today,
along with 4 Cassin's finch (3m), 5-6
Pinyon jays, 2 pair of western bluebirds, and a pair of mountain bluebirds
(bb's checking boxes).
Also a flyby bald eagle and sharp-shinned hawk.

It is a fairly large body of water but the water line is substantially lower
than last year. That being said, it has set up enough sand bars on the north
side of the reservoir for a group of at least 40 American white pelicans. The
other waterfowl and diving birds included:

a real turkey. Watched a Wild Turkey spend about thirty minutes in our bird
feeding area. Spent time pecking under feeders and walking (i.e. pacing)
along the split rail fence.
