Don't know about ARC (do you mean AlphaBIOS ?) (I have switched to
SRM long ago) but I run a Radeon 7500 without problems and boot off
IDE fine.
As Helge said, the latest SRM (5.8, IIRC) will boot just fine from the
builtin IDE controller.
And also, the 7500 works very well for me.
