here. You've to set the password method to "sasl" and configure the realm in
the configuration to achieve this.
Note that the sasl password method was initially done with external service
configuration in mind.

I am implementing GOsa for the Debian-LAN setup. The idea is to use
SASL to authenticate users in the setup with kerberos. To implement
that, I use passwordDefaultHash="sasl" in gosa.conf.
However, when I add a user in GOsa, I end up with:
