Hi,
The "run intltool-update to build a translation template" could likely
be done out of the build system. I'm not sure that we could do some of
the other changes like adding domain to desktop entries out of the build
though since those change the deb content and would require
be nice to let the rules
use cdbs if you can...

The Debian menu is only a submenu in GNOME and I'm not sure this is
worth spending time and efforts for something that's redesigned upstream
right now. Perhaps we should let it in this state for Sarge and wor
a menu is an usability problem
imho (it's very annoying to search an item in the middle of long
menus). If you are using non KDE/Gnome apps you should perhaps add some
launchers in the desktop for them ?
I've added the gnome/kde in the Cc: field because I think it's rather a
desktop's problem than a mentors/devel problem.
