Aha! libzeitgeist-gio appears to be the culprit. It was removed in
Natty in bug #724199, so my freshly installed system doesn't have it,
and my upgraded system does (or did).
There's still a glib bug here in that libglib2.0 has broken ABI without
sufficient packaging metadata changes.

Sure - i went to the "Ubuntu start" icon and went to "Main menu".
With "Main menu" open, click "New item".
A few seconds will pass and it will report that Main menu has crashed; a new

related to #802747: /apps/metacity/general/capture_before_unmap is set
to false but if I change the preferences setting to select windows on
mouseover, capture_before_unmap remains false but terminal windows fail

I have a system with Oneiric i386 installed, with yelp 3.1.2-0ubuntu1
and alltray 0.71b-1, so I tested it on that. (I doubt this problem is
machine-specific, and in any case, the machine on which I had previously
produced this problem is a VM which I have since deleted.) I was not
able to produce t
I tried with oneiric alpha 3.
Nothing changed, in big boxes, the black dot is visible, but in the small
boxes, it is nearly invisble (1 px).

Here is .xsession-errors. It doesn't change when I try to add a
bookmark.
I haven't created any other users yet - this is a fresh install +
