It is not a fix, but launchpad has no status 'worked around'.
Yes, it's a shame that such trivial thing stayed for a year or so and after
that we only got a workaround which most users were applying anyway. So there
is a lack of workforce in Ubuntu and open source in general, but YOU can help.

Personally, I'm quite sure it is a gThumb issue. gThumb shows the model
of the camera correctly, and even imports the thumbnails from the camera
correctly beneath this weird error dialog. This weird dialog appears
when there is camera and even when there is none, it's some sort of
gThumb bug.

dialog, because this error message takes the focus and the program hangs

Default only has sense when you have checked separate layout for each window.
It is the default layout for newly appearing windows. If you have global layout
(like I see you do), you start your session with the language first in the list
(USA in your case), that's it.

Goom visualization works as expected as 'Small' size. But if I increase
it to 'Normal', 'Large' or 'Extra Large', totem sucks up 1 CPU to
