I find that the current Gutsty rhythmbox fails in the way "who_cares"
describes above, but it does work (with a complaint) with the "-n"
option. Like this:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Downloads $ rhythmbox --version
GNOME rhythmbox 0.11.5
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Downloads $ rhythmbox
[EMAIL PROTECTED] Downlo

I got a bit more data from rhythmbox by killing the process I found running and
restarting it.
Here's what happens when I click play:
